Just purchased the new Sig p365 spectre comp and this is the quality control they let out the door I ended up with. Nicks in the barrel and something like lead or solder globs stuck like a bitch at the crown. WTF, below is their reply. Just pathetic, IMO they should be begging for it back to make it right.

This appears to be removable judging by the pictures and would not affect the performance of the firearm. I would suggest in the future that you use 0000 not 000 steel wool when cleaning finished metal as it’s a bit less abrasive. If you would like to send it to us for evaluation, I can still set you up with an RMA but I have had confirmation from others that they believe you should still have a perfectly functioning firearm.

Wanting to replace the rusted out firebox on a Brinkmann offset barrel smoker. Cooking chamber is still in really good shape.

Put out an ad on Facebook looking for local welders/fabricators and had one guy reach out to me.

I asked for something similar to the below, maybe in the 18x18x18 or 20x20 range and was quoted "somewhere between $250-300." No specifics discussed on steel gauge etc yet.

That smoker wasn't much over $600 10 years ago so I balk at that figure a little, but if that's reasonable, and dropping that much now can keep me running for another 5 years or more, I'd probably say that's good enough.

Has anyone got experience with McMillan firearms?

Not mcmillan stocks, but their firearms extension. I'm trying to buy a part for a rifle that a gentleman has agreed to hold for me for a couple of days whilst I get info from mcmillan. I sent a few emails asking about it, then used their online contact form, then went onto Facebook. All with the same question. No reply from email and I've been left on read on Facebook with no reply. What I had noticed though, was in my Facebook and email message history, there were a bunch of unanswered questions when I was trying to order a tac338 back in 2018. (Never got a response so never bought the rifle)

I'm guessing mcmillan firearms is now out of business and I'm just behind the times, but can anyone confirm this? Their website is a bit of a dog to navigate. There's no parts or accessories section so I can't even just ad to cart and try my luck.

The gentleman is only holding the rifle for 2 more days for me so I'm getting desperate

I wanted to get some ideas on how others would spend a $2000 budget for a full rifle build (stock, action, barrel, bipod, scope, mount, rings). I’m currently in this boat, looking to build a rifle for NRL22/long range target practice (300 yards).

Built this because I thought I was going to be 12-16 weeks out on a McGowen 6GT barrel and they had it built in 4 weeks. Took it out Saturday just to function test it, after adjusting the gas it put 3 rounds of Hornady ELD-M touching at 100 yards, not bad for a budget upper. It has a total of 6 rounds through it.

I have a NF NX8 4-32x50 F1 with the MIL-XT reticle. A very very nice scope that has only a couple of range trips on it. It wears a spuhr 3060 mount and has never worn rings (no scope marks). I wanted to ask how people carry a DSLR or Mirrorless camera while hunting or hiking. I bought this semi-rigid case and planned on keeping it on my hip, or maybe on the side of my bino case ( Alaska Guide Creations, classic with MAX pocket). I seems like it'll be kind of bulky on the bino pack, though I don't mind a heavily loaded chest rig.

A buddy is twisting my arm to get into nighttime yote hunting under thermal or NV.

I’m going to use this to justify a new build in 6.5G. So I am on the fence about NV vs Thermal-but that needs more research and a budget set by me.

I’m looking at the LaRue 6.5 match upper-but my buddy is admit-must be a 20” barrel. I’m not really seeing the gains for the 2” of barrel for a rifle that will live inside 300 most of its life and rarely reach 500.

That being said I’m down to the LaRue upper on a LaRue lower or building on a geissele receiver set I have laying and ordering up a proof stainless 20”.

I will be shooting suppressed, once my cans are freed from the federal pen. So much for E-forms being quicker.

Given y’all’s experience, which way would you go? Am I missing anything?

Up for sale is ZCO 5-27 scope with the MPCT 1 reticle. Scope is in great shape, it’s been mostly a safe queen on my long range rifle, no matches shot with it. Only reason I’m selling is I decided to go all one optic and reticle and this one doesn’t match up. I have some 36mm arc rings and a 36 mm mount (RRS i think) I could sell to buyer of scope for a good deal. I’ll have to get details on them. Also need to verify if I have the original box for this.

I am in the market for an optic to mount on my Seekins Havak element chambered in .300 win mag. The two that I am considering for my applications are the Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15x42 and the NF ATACR 4-16x50 (SFP).

The optic will be used 80% of the time hunting in the mountains of northern and central PA, with the occasional trip out west for elk and muleys.

My biggest dilemma is that I like the price point ( have discounts for both companies, though) and weight of the razor lht but I am concerned with the durability and quality vs. the NF. Likewise, I find the NF MIL-R reticle more appealing. Both optics are second focal plane as I find that more appealing for my broad range of hunting scenarios. But I am also interested in the warranty between NF and Vortex since I've eaten shit a time or two with my optics (hence the durability). Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your input and opinions.

Razor lht is much lighter and cheaper but is it better or just as durable as the ATACR 4-16?
