Brownells Shipping Issues

Anyone else having huge issues with Brownells over the past couple of years?

Most recently, I ordered about $850 worth of stuff and chose the generic one day shipping at check out about two weeks ago. I've been on their chat, talked to reps on the phone (there were 330 people ahead of me in the queue), sent emails... no one can tell me why the order hasn't shipped. Worse, I get weird responses from "Beth" via email from the orderdesk account saying things like "a replacement package has been picked but they can't ship it to my PO Box" when my order and invoice state my physical address as shipping...

My last order through them, they sent me someone else's order. The order before that, they shipped way late....

What the hell is happening there? I'd kind of like to have some sort of reality TV show dedicated to their shit show, just so I could view their train wreck of fulfillment. Lol

Scope slipping

I’ve got a 300PRC built on a defiance ruckus hunter and AG composite stock. The scope is a ZCO 4-20 in ZCO rings. The scope keeps slipping even after 25inlbs torque. Should I ditch these rings or try something else? I’d like to keep it light as possible with this setup. It obviously a scope that doesn’t hold tight isn’t ideal haha.

One Tripod To Rule Them All

Hello gentlemen my name is Damien, I am new to the Hide but have been reading and learning from this forum for several years before deciding to join.

I am new to the tripod game, any solid advise would be greatly appreciated as I have narrowed down my tripod search to few models by 2 manufacturers. I'm 6' 3" and my primary platform is a AI AXSR with ZC527. I live on a small ranch, our property spans 110 acres and its where I primarily shoot, I don't hunt big game anymore but am interested in PRS matches in the future for context.

I have settled on the Anvil 30 ARC head no matter which tripod I end up choosing, though I am hoping for some real world experience with the below mentioned tripod models themselves.

Two Vets QDT Tripod. I like larger tube diameter 42mm for the main tubes and the larger circumference base at the top for stability. I also read they use more weaves in the carbon fiber then the other manufacturers. I am concerned about adaptability and how that translates for the end user compared to the others I mention here with it just being 2 sections. This also has the highest weight rating of 100lbs. Folded length is 39" deployed height is 65.5". I am curious though how this tripod compares in build quality, and also resale value compared to the RRS models below. Cost with the Anvil 30 ARC is roughly $1,125.00 with tax.

RRS TVC-22i Mk2 SOAR Series Tripod. Top tube is 32.7mm and base tube is 36.7mm (series 3). I very much like the inverted design it makes a lot of sense for a rock solid platform, this model also has the larger diameter top to give the legs a bit more stability, however the diameter of the tubes are smaller then the Two Vets QDT and the weight rating is less by -15lbs. Folded length 38.2mm deployed height is 64.3". Cost with the Anvil 30 ARC is roughly $1,445.00 with tax.

Lastly the..

RRS TFCT MK2 34L Tripod. Main tube is 36.7mm (series 3). From what I gathered this tripod seems to be the gold standard for someone my height, folks sure seem to like this one. However. a couple of things give me some pause with this model. The price with tax is $1,738.00 and the top of the tripod platform is much smaller in diameter then the aforementioned models, which would mean a bit less stability I assume. Folded length is 26.6" deployed height is 71.1"

Off the shelf Precision Rifle under $2K recommendations

I'm 100% new to bolt guns, been lurking and reading over the past week and overall, the forum is excellent at helping me drain my bank account. I already have my eye on things like a KRG Whiskey chassis, Zermatt action, solid barrel, things of that nature. And then I come back down to earth and realize I'd probably be over-gunned with a Ruger precision rifle.

I've really decided I don't want to fool with building one. I've built a few gas guns with great success but I don't know what I don't know about bolt guns so I'd like to spend time behind one that I know is solid out of the box and not that expensive.

A few things to consider.
-I don't have any ranges, within reasonable driving distances, longer than 300 yards, that I could visit as regularly as the ones I currently frequent.
-I'm sticking to .308. I already have an AR10 and I reload for .308 and am set up for it and have numerous loads that are sub-MOA (will need to tweak for new rifle).
-I'm also sort of leaning towards the hunting/tactical end of things as that would be more practical. And again, nothing longer than 300 yards near me.
-I'm a modaholic and like to tweak things so really looking for the precision rifle chassis look as opposed to a regular stock and one with lots of aftermarket support.

I see most PR's are fairly heavy, the RPR being no exception at right around 10 pounds in .308.

I saw the Sig Cross, both the 16" barrel and the 24" model but the 24 comes in at a whopping 14+ pounds. I'm not sure the 16" will really be that much different from my AR which also features a 16" barrel. I do like the weight of the 16" model which is under 7 pounds.

The Christensen Arms MPR is interesting, a bit ugly, but there's a 24" version that's under 8 pounds. Not sure I'm 100% convinced on the carbon/heat transfer thing as I'm involved with a few products which use carbon as a heat conductor and the construction and manufacturing is waaaaay different than what I see on their barrels. The 24" might be a bit overkill for both the ranges I have to work with and hunting but I did find one for just over my price range.

So that sort of leaves me the RPR with a 20" barrel. I could see adding say a Proof barrel later on along with a new carbon hand guard (CODA most likely) to take a bit of weight off if I want to go that direction. I'll likely find it fine as is though.

Anything else I should consider that's readily available?

I have it on good word...

That forum member @TheGerman is in real life Michael German, "who infiltrated white supremacy groups as an FBI agent, [he] told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday."

“It seems intuitive that effective social media monitoring might provide clues to help law enforcement prevent attacks,” German said. “After all, the white supremacist attackers in Buffalo, Pittsburgh and El Paso all gained access to materials online and expressed their hateful, violent intentions on social media.”

Picatinny rail weirdness

I have some weird things going on with my TRG and the contessa pic rail. Mounted it about 1.5 years ago with screws and blue loctite. For some time, after shooting the rifle hot some how loctite seeped into the chamber. Usually just whiped everything off and went on. A few days ago it happened again after a long time and decided that I would clean out all of the loctite and remount everything. After doing so, my zero shifted 0.2mrad up and 1mrad left at 100 meters. Was kinda surprised about the amount of windage shift. My ocd kicked in and redid everything. This time my elevation shift went back up to normal, but windage shifted again 1mrad left.

Both times shot a group at 100 and 300 meters, and the rifle holds still an amazing group and its zero and there is no weird alignment issues, ie no windage shift at 300m compared to 100m.

Im just super weirded out about the amount of windage shift and especially since it shifted 1mrad left both times so it has shifted a total of 2mrad left from original mounting. Is this in the normal parameters? Everytime mounted the rail with the first screw infront, and the rear most screw in the back to align the rail, and proceed to tighten the rest.
