Thinking about getting one should i go with the glock 17/19 instead as i am concerned it will become discontinued like many sig products and replaced for another like how the ngsw failed n will now disappear like the 1st gen mcx

I am mounting a Sightron 45x on a Tikka T1X for 50 yard BR. The EGW picatinny rail extends 1.5" past the front of the receiver. Should I limit the foward ring to sitting on the receiver or move it more forward to the section of the rail that exteends out over the barrel? Thanks for your input.

i know its a long shot but ive seen a few posts so im wanting to trade a v3 autothrow with ingenuity precision trickler for a supertrickler.

So I recently got bit by the build my own custom rifle bug and it’s not going away. Being that this will be my first custom rifle what actions should I be considering? It seems like a lot of these types of threads I have read through suggest a big horn origin. But, just curious as to what others are out there or if that is the road I should be going down.

Main uses for the gun:
Michigan hunting 50-100 yards typical maybe 100-250 on the off occasion
Plinking at the local range out to 200
Every once in a while out to the not so local 600 yard range

I also would like to get started in reloading. I currently do not have any experience reloading but would like to start with this custom rifle. Any suggestions on good calibers for my main uses and an easier caliber to get started into reloading would be helpful.

I am selling my L3 thin-filmed WP RNVG's by Night Vision Incorporated. Small zone 3 spot but you can't even see it when actually using them. They've served me well, not dropped, not banged against stuff, and stored with the battery out. Spec sheets can be sent to serious buyers. Pictures were just quickly snapped and not that grainy in person.

Does having a heavy contour on a 22Rf help accuracy vs having a thinner lighter contour? My current rig has a pretty heavy barrel and now I am contemplating the benefits of less weight for better handling. Perhaps a carbon fiber Bartlein in a Heavy Varmit or M24 contour.

And I guess the next followup is what's the chances of anyone being able to shoot the difference between a pencil barrel and an M24?

Wanted to ask anyone out there if they have experienced any issues with velocity from the SAME LOT from Hornady ELD-M 140's?
attached is some data we have from different lots of ammo in Hornady's 140gr ELD-Match (#891500) Lot #3230329.
In the very same rifle on the same day from a different box, but same lot purchased within minutes of eachother, we found a large difference in Velocity numbers.
The ES numbers were very good from each box. BUT, the velocities were vastly different.
Now I think the Howa 1500 24" heavy barrel may be accounting for an overall (+/-70pfs) slower velocity than that of the Bergara due to the Howa just being a little slower than the Bergara premier barreled action.
I called hornady and I spoke to a technical person who's name I will leave off here because he stated some things that honestly I don't think Hornady believes.
He stated that "an 80-100fps spread in the same lot can be typical in this ammo."
Now, I don't believe that for a minute on their ELD-M/X ammo lines, and I don't think Hornady does either. I have had velocities very consistent from lot to lot and especially in the same lot.
On the sheet you can see that the Howa shoots all the ammo slower than the Bergara. Kudos to Bergara, it's a nice tight rifle.
I am wondering if I should also be reaching out to Howa to see if there is anything wrong with my barrel.
Typically, you wouldn't see this detriment pop up unless you were shooting out to transonic ranges, which we were and noticed it very vividly.
2545fps at 60Fwas at the time about 2510fps avg due to lower temps of about 30F, but transonic instability popped into play at anything over 800Y.
During a long range class, that's not what you want from brand new match ammo.

Please let me know you thoughts?
