WWI poison gas attack in MO last weekend......

Yup in my shop.......I know there are more then a few "handy" guys on this forum, and in reading the title of this thread they are thinking, that stupid fuck did............

Yup I sure did it, but if you don't know you now will before you end up killing yourself, yes KILL YOURSELF.

I had known about this for years, but for some reason I was thinking it was carb cleaner, now thinking back on it I can't imagine how foolish I was, but you know the saying god loves fools, he makes so many of them.

What the deal is if you degrease your metal before welding with brakekleen then start to weld you are going to make phosgene gas, and this shit does not fuck around....AT ALL. Does not matter if it is "dry" or not, it will leave shit behind and if you heat it over 300F it will make phosgene gas....welding is a pretty hot thing.

I was building a platform and welding it together. I had just drilled and tapped some holes and hit it with brakekleen to get the cutting oil off the metal. Then grabbed the welder. I had in one sec a very strong "pool" smell. Chlorine, then a sec later, and I do mean SEC I started to feel real shitty. In that sec I knew what I had done, opened the big door to the shop and went outside. Had to lay down.

Wife can only be described as FREAKED THE FUCK OUT, called an old army buddy that does chemical warfare shit, and he told her to call poison control. She does, they told her if I had not gotten right out of there I would be dead, as in DEAD as Julius Caesar, and going about as peaceful. Got real foggy, hard to think and I basically laid down outside for a few minutes. Then went in the house and did what everyone does......what does the internet say.....oh boy, that is some bad stuff.

Poison control said if I am not coughing up blood, or bleeding out my eyes, yup that can happen, or nose bleeds don't bother taking me to the hospital, not anything they can do but watch me. They called her back in about an hour to see how I was.

I really thought it was carb cleaner, but stupid that stuff will burn, it could not be that.

My hope is it brings it back to the front of your minds, and perhaps lets some people new to "hobby welding" know about this. It seems natural, use brakekleen to get greasy parts clean.....but don't do it, you likely will die.

Now what about me? My sinus is still fucked, feels like I snorted a bunch of dish washer soap, just raw inside, likely the lining of my sinus is damaged, hot steamy showers feel real good to my nose. A mild sinus headache is all I have, so I got REAL lucky.

Be careful, Just wanted to bring it up incase it helps someone.

Crye alternatives? (In green)

Paramedic getting paired with a tac team and in need of OD green combat shirt and pants.

My agency can provide 5.11 stryke pants in their TDU green, but I would like to find an alternative with the g3 style knee pads. Plus 5.11 doesn't offer a matched color combat shirt. We are allowed to buy our own gear but I'm on a dad budget.

UF pro was my first choice for balling cheaper than crye but they dont really offer anything close to an OD green.

Plenty of chinesium G3s out there and I would consider a company if they were ok ish. But I would prefer something in the 5.11 quality range.

Did You Hit What You Aimed at Part Two.

This recurring question "Did You Hit What You Aimed At?" keeps me thinking.

What I am going to propose is that anyone who has interest consider participating.

I will be taking a target with 12 1/4" dots on it. I will shoot one group on it for the next 6 weeks as time permits. One dot for CBS and one for a 3 shot group each trip.

This should put to rest (or not) all the "wallet group" statements that seem to flourish on the site. I will record conditions, time, date etc. I will give my barrel a LONG overdue cleaning and shoot a box of ammo through it to re condition the bore, check all screws for torque etc. I will freely admit that I will shoot under as near ideal conditions as possible. I am not in doubt what extreme cold or any wind will do to move a 22 bullet at 50 yards.

I would be very interested to see how others do with a similar test. I am simply not as pessimistic regarding 22 RF accuracy as some here are.

Any away of showing the maintenance of accuracy and POI over a few separate range trips is acceptable. Nothing about this is standardized or to be considered challenge. I am just interested in what others get for results. I may well embarrass myself. My opinion is that my rifle is consistent in both accuracy and POI.

The results will tell.

My First Precision Rifle Build

I thought I'd start a new thread since the old one was about choosing what to get for my build, not the actual build its-self.

I got the shipping confirmation from Altus today, so it should make it to my LGS sometime this week (maybe Wednesday).

I also just ordered a Vortex Gen 3 6-36 off EuroOptic. I registered my Military status with Vortex, but the rep I spoke with said it'd be about 2 months before they'd get any in. So he told me to go with EuroOptic.

So, what does my first precision rifle look like?

I ordered the following:

Zermatt Origin action
Proof SS M24 barrel blank in 6.5 Creedmoor
MDT XRS Chassis in FDE (I wanted black, but Altus didn't have the black in stock)
TriggerTech Special
MDT 10rd magazine
Vortex Razor G3 6-36 EBR-7D

Now I need to hop over to my LGS and see what mounting rings they have and pick up some other ancillary pieces.

I think I'm going to have the gunsmith do a black Cerakote finish on the barrel. I'm also going to have him thread the end for a suppressor.

As soon as I get pictures of the parts and the assembled gun, I'll be sure to post them on here for you!

I'd also like to thank everyone who contributed to the original thread massively for their help in reaching this decision. I'm extremely excited to get behind this and start poking holes in paper from a long way away. :)

Remember that guy the cops beat to death about a month ago?

Hearing noise Tyree was fucking a cops baby mama…

A List of White Racial Slurs Is Circulating at Auburn

Auburn’s Black Student Union recently circulated a list of racial slurs for white people. Campus Reform reports that some of the popular ones include:

  • “palm people”
  • “failed abortions”
  • “deformed dna”
  • “mockery of humanity”
  • “bleach demons”
  • “albino pigs”
  • “not meant to exist”
  • “white ‘people’ was just god experimenting.”

If you wish, you can read the full list here. It stretches for seven pages.

Charming. But it does not stop there. One student commented, “Milk Monkies gone (sic) always make me laugh,” while another said, “My favorite is the vanilla villager.” Another wrote (and I quote), “why do palm colored folks think somebody is supporting to step out of their way on the concourse/sidewalk? i’ve just had three men slam into my and I JUST got on campus. finna start body checking.” The document was apparently sent in a GroupMe chat to Auburn’s Black Student Union.

Set aside for a moment the fact that these college students have no grasp of the English language. Or that someone had the time to compile seven pages of racial slurs, as opposed to going to class. It is noteworthy that, had a white student or group compiled such a list, names would have been taken, people would have been expelled, and the “scramble” light at the DOJ would now be flashing. Just noting that such a list is offensive would be considered an act of aggression or racism. Someone will probably accuse me of racism merely for bringing the list to your attention.

Two things are at work here. One is the assertion of power. If one declares oneself to be a victim, then one may do whatever one wants in the name of self-defense or even revenge. And these “victims” are enjoying the more sinister side of power—the ability to abuse and oppress. Second, the Left is constantly itching for a fight. Any reaction to this will be met with swift and severe retribution. People who are embracing the worst side of human nature are essentially saying, “Go ahead. Do something, say something. I dare you.” They are turning into the very thing that they claim to abhor. The entire scenario is designed to bring out the absolute lowest in human behavior on both sides.

So what is to be done? Good question. I wish I had an answer. I would submit that, at its heart, the issue is not so much race but ideology. Race just happens to be an effective delivery system. A cultural missile, if you will. It is the weaponization of people. Someone reading the list above may be tempted to discount all black people based on the behavior of those mentioned above. They may be tempted to throw out the phrase “I’d like to solve the puzzle, Pat,” which has become a common rejoinder on comment boards. It is essentially a way of saying the “n-word” without actually doing so. And while someone might find catharsis in such a phrase or a way to vent frustrations, they must ask themselves if they would say it to Frederick Douglas, Dr. Charles Richard Drew, George Washington Carver, or the Tuskegee Airmen. For that matter, would they say it to Candace Owens, Larry Elder, or Thomas Sowell? Probably not. Do not be led into hatred by those who hate.

As Sun Tzu said in Art of War:

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

And so we must also keep in mind that what we see here is the politics of power masquerading as race. While such behavior is inexcusable by anyone, it is the product of people who have been taught what to think, and not how. We must also be on guard for those who would tell us what to think—from either side of the aisle.

THIS IS HOW I WOULD HAVE ACTED WHEN I WAS A CHILD.

Success! (Gun advocacy)

Everyone tends to go about things differently. I try to be nice but straight forward about it, but recently I wanted to share some success that go beyond that type of discussion.

My boss and his wife are both really nice people. Both are first generation immigrants as well. They are definitely the type that is heavily influenced by news media and so forth. In some ways they definitely lean a little bit left.

Personally I can see how much they allow CNN et al influence them and the way they think.

Fast forward to today and I just taught both of them to shoot guns for the very first time. Over time they eventually asked me if I knew about it so I said yes and offered to teach them. They heard a lot of BS about guns in general including suppressor use/ownership.

Where I work has a lot of undeveloped land and forest within a few hundred feet, so we walked over into the woods and I had the wife and the husband both shoot a suppressed P322 and a suppressed P226.

Anyway it was overall a resounding success on all levels. The wife had a lot more questions about guns which I answered. Some of them were clearly derived from watching left wing news outlets but most of those myths got debunked in the first 5 minutes.

After we were done I let them safely handle the guns and the suppressors which they both thought were cool AF.

I didn't go too far into the weeds, but I did do some safety training like how to unload a gun or check if it is loaded. Obviously I made them aware of muzzle awareness as well.

Overall everything went great and everyone enjoyed it a lot.

Help me not fail college

so long story short I procrastinated for a month and didn't find enough people for a survey for my Psyc class so now I am here. Kinda scared for the results, as yall are some very sick and twisted bastards but here's the survey. It's short 5 min about you don't need to explain for option 1/2 its all multiple choice. This would help me a great deal as this is our "big" assignment for the semester.

How do you choose a BULLET for load development?

I've seen a few threads in here regarding choosing a bullet specifically for hunting applications. My question is regarding target shooting and load development.

I won't clutter this up with specific rifle / reloading info (unless it's required to answer my question), but I will give the basics. One match is 300 yd benchrest and the other is 850-1000 yd silhouette.

Been reloading for 3-4 years. The two rifles I'm speaking about, for the purposes of this question, are both RPR's one in 6 Creed and one in 6.5 Creed. Both have aftermarket barrels and muzzle brakes. I have many other rifles in various calibers in both bolt and gas platforms.

Amassed a respectable amount of bullets in Barnes, Hornady, Berger, DTAC, Sierra, etc. I understand the aspects of charge weight, brass, primer, seating depth, neck tension, etc.

If you had a particular rifle, and say 5-6 different bullets (all that will work within the twist rate of your barrel) what determines which one you choose to begin your development? How do you choose?

As with hunting, I suspect the use application may have an impact but hoping for some insight. Thanks in advance.

LaRue 6 ARC Upper

They have a 16” upper listed for a decent price. I’m just not sure of the quality of their stuff, their website will tell it’s the best thing ever…there’s just no info on their barrels at all.

What’s your experience with LaRue? They have a spotty reputation online, on forums, I’ve read they make accurate guns. But, I haven’t heard much about them recently.

Accessories Foundation Revelation Impact 737 FS

I have a used Foundation Revelation for sale. Specs below.

Action: Impact 737R RH

This stock was used for my trip to Africa last year. It has a few small scuffs/marks on it from being used. I have moved that barreled action into a lighter stock to use for NRL Hunter. This does not have a LOP spacer on it so current LOP is 13.5ish. I did add 2 left side flush cups the correct way (endmill/tap)
Price is NOW 850 Shipped!

Help me breathe some new life into my old Model 7!

Back 20 some years ago I bought my first rifle….a stainless model 7 chambered in 308. It’s been a great handy mid west whitetail rig. A few years back I put it in a H&S stock now looking to do a little more.

I’m sending it to Long Rifles to have them enlarge the rear action screw to the M700 size. While it’s there I’m thinking about swapping barrels. The original shoots ok…1-1.5moa but is crazy thin and obviously not threaded and I’m looking to get my first suppressor soonish.

The rifle would be primary hunting. Whitetail and western mulies / elk.

So a couple questions….

Stay 308? Or go 6.5cm or 7mm-08? Those are the 3 options.

What’s the barrel contour of choice? I want something I can have threaded. I’m thinking #3 contour. 20in for 308 or 22 with 6.5 or 7mm-08 Is what i have in mind. I’d like to go carbon but I think would probably be out of the budget and I’m honestly not sure the stock could be opened up enough to take that heavy of a contoured barrel.

Is it worth having LRI true the action while it’s there?

Any suggestions and thoughts are welcomed!

Idaho trip advice

Ok so this years ski / exploring trip is going to be Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. I got a lot of great advice from the guys on the forum about my trip to Denver and CO last year Visiting Denver so thought I would throw the question out there again..

I am going to be diving from NC. Probably stop and hit some of the high spots in Denver from last years trip. Maybe ski a day in Vail or one of the epic pass resorts and head up to WY. I have a couple of buddy's who live in Rock Springs and Lander going to probably go sledding in Pinedale WY area a day or 2 and go skiing. I have been all around Jackson a few times so nothing new there. Was wanting to ski Grand Targhee And head over to Boise and explore Idaho some. I like skiing, good steaks, good views, guns not much for crowds or night life. I am a farmer so driving throw ID farm country I would probably enjoy. And I may be low key looking for a place to move or buy a small second home in a few years as well.. lol
