Car Jacking gone wrong

As authorities were chasing Zanders through Brusly, an Addis Police unit crashed into a vehicle, killing Dunn and Gill, who were not involved in the theft, according to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office.

I think, in this case, the training manual should have been thrown away and the vehicle should have been filled full of lead... ASAP

The Safety Briefing

Okay I'll admit that the subject title was a bit of click-bait but I couldn't think of anything else to call this thread.

I'm all about safety as yours truly has been severely injured before and it's no fun. Also had a friend die in a work place accident.

So I thought it would be interesting to share stories or information that we can all take with us in our everyday lives.

Question for veterans out there: what was the least wanted job/additional duty that you could ever get other than PLO (Permanent Latrine Orderly)? Was it the organization's Safety Officer/NCO or planning the Commander's Christmas party?

Now I don't want this to be so serious that we get bored or turned off on the subject matter. With that said, I will humbly submit this trauma surgeon's analysis of the injuries Harry and Marv sustained in the "Home Alone" movies.

A 6:00 she mentions the "hangman's fracture." Yours truly experienced this. It was no fun and almost killed me but I enjoyed seeing Marv get his. The first atta-boy goes to the person who can submit the best safety briefing.

EDIT: I would nominate Kevin for a wide-area munitions specialist job in the Army.

Has anyone else had a package disappear?

I ordered a Gibbz receiver to act as the point where all my well bought black Friday parts would converge to produce a cool gift. I even paid extra and chose UPS, not the US post office, to ensure that it would be delivered over the Christmas rush. Then I received an email that my package had suffered a "sortation" error in Mesa Arizona. WTF is "sortation"? I had to look that one up. I thought UPS was making up words but it's a real word. It's not just doublespeak for "one of our employees stole a package that they thought was a whole firearm. I filled out a claim and it's now under investigation. I haven't heard back from Gibbz. I'm sure they've been out all week so I'm not sure how this will play out. I suppose I can wait for either UPS to find the receiver or pay out the claim. I suspect one will never happen and the other will take even longer.

Firearms 2013 badger action in KRG stock, 16 inch bbl, 6.5 creedmoor 1440 shipped

Hello all!
Selling a Badger 2013 action based rifle, in a non folding KRG stock.
Took the rifle to a long weekend in Logan, New Mexico to do a steel safari type class, so there are some scratches on the rifle, nothing major. Did great, sweet little 9.5 lb rifle as it sits. If it is on the stock and in the pictures, it is included. Brand new firing pin and spring, so bolt lift will be a bit stiff for a bit.
Got this from another hider, bought it as is, shot it for a bit, so not being coy just do not know what the barrel maker/twist is, just that my gunsmith stated it was radiused.
Cheek piece cut in order to cycle the bolt, just to explain that picture :)
1440 shipped from my ffl to yours, CONUS. PP F&F preferred, checks fine as well.
Feel free to text me at 8o6 678 37#51 for more pics, questions, etc.
Thanks!

Tips for creating a custom rifle through APR?

I’ve been looking into making a custom rifle for some long range steel plinking. I’ve heard a lot of good about Alamo Precision and their rifles, but I have no clue what to expect or what questions I should be ready to answer when I call them…

For example, one of my dream builds would be a .338 lapua, preferably with a defiance ruckus action, bertlein barrel, a good trigger like a triggertech diamond or others similar, and any chassis that is sturdy and fits the previously mentioned parts.

Would that be all the info they need and they can fill in the rest, or do they need more specific statistics or parts?

Again, I am very new to both the custom side of bolt actions, and APR, so any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Pst gen 2 3-15 vs xtr3 3-18i

I think I have it narrowed down to these 2 scopes. I had my heart set on the xrt3i for what seemed like forever waiting for the release. Then I kinda lost interest when manufacturing moved to the Philippines.

This will be for a hunting/target hybrid. (Think NRL hunter class)

So far my thoughts are as follows.

PST gen 2
-A few onces lighter.
-Few hundred dollars cheaper.
-The whole vortex warranty thing.

XTR3 I
-Higher magnification
-The xtr2 had a track record of durability(not sure if this applies here)

I have also been dreaming of an nx8 4-32 but struggle to spend that much money for something I really don't use that much.

The vortex lht 4.5-22 looks perfect on paper but I am not spending that much on a scope with turrets that belong on a Walmart scope.

Appreciate any thoughts

Begrudgingly, I’m looking to get back to reloading and right now specifically looking at electronic powder dispensers

Disclaimer: I will apologize up front for this going long. I know we all like short posts, but this will not be one of those.

Don’t really want to reload anymore but I have so much once fired brass now that reloading is pulling back me in!

Dispensers are not necessarily time savers (some take 45-seconds to dispense a load), nor necessarily more accurate than other methods, but there is some worth just for convenience.

I’m old. Been shooting since I was eight, probably before a lot of you were born. Back in my reloading days we all used beam scales. They worked just fine. Accuracy was great. I did tens of thousands of reloads back then, one at time for rifle accuracy and progressive presses for volume shotgun competition shooting.

The title says it all. However, being “anal”, as in an analyst by profession, and having searched the site for all posts relating to this topic, I still don’t have valid answer to my questions:

We now have dispensers going from say $300 to $2000. Do they really make a difference? I’d say yes for convenience sake so let’s say they do. However, is the price difference between them worth a .05 or so grain accuracy?

Lots of questions.

How good is good enough? What is the difference in a .05 grain charge variability in actual vertical dispersion results? Except for aerodynamic jump, at 100 yards, where we all initially test, the powder charge should have no other influence. So how much vertical dispersion will a .05 grain charge have? Is it worth a $2K? $700? or a $300 machine?

And I have a lot to say about powders. I’ll leave it at this: Extrusion powders have a variance in the length of the stick. Ball powders have a variance in the size of the ball. What happens when you throw a charge that happens to have only the smaller sticks or balls? It burns quicker. Does that affect results. You bet ya.

Am I wrong to assume that? Don’t think so…

Is 100th of a grain (.01) significant in accuracy? Forget that, I’ll say no until proven otherwise,

How about a 10th of a grain.(.1)? That’s a more valid question. Does anyone know for a fact that this makes a difference? As in LOTS of shots to prove that?

See what am I getting at? There are so many other variables in reloading, rifles, and the person behind the trigger that it makes me think those small variations would be lost in the “noise”. And right out of my pocket… If so I’ll go for the $300 dispenser…

I’d love to see valid data if any of you have any. If you don’t then it’s no issue. just disregard this post. I will eventually find the truth on my own. Just trying to save time, at 68 years of age, my extremely valuable time!

All the Best, and Happy New Year!
