Walked out of new state of the art shooting range.

So I go and buy a new handgun from this authorized dealer, and when I arrive I noticed it was a brand new facility.
I go in and purchase handgun via fast track ccw and could not get background check to comeback, no worries I will be back in the morning.

While I was waiting for background check I was checking out there new state of the art indoor range, man it was nice. So I go to the range counter and fill out paperwork for range card for in the morning. So I would have it all done when I came back in the next day.

Get there the next day with my other pistol and decide to go to range before I pick up my new pistol. So go to the range counter and show him my new card and get things going. I said I brought my own new in box ammo, figuring he wants to see it’s not reman, and he tells me I have to buy there ammo to shoot on there range even if it’s my own new ammo.

So he calls the owner over to talk to me and tells me the same thing, mind you the same guy that checked my paperwork for the new pistol I purchased the day before.

So the dude doesn’t even cut me a break after I bought a pistol from him the day before, I was fucking pissed, he leaves and I told the guy at the range counter to keep the new range card.

I then proceeded to go fill out the last few paperwork items and picked up my new pistol and walked out. Pisses me off that with all the price gouging with the ammo nowadays and then we get these guys making it even worse and making people buy the ammo at an even more inflated price to shoot at there range. Oh and the owner tells me he’s selling his ammo at competitive prices, I’m thinking yea you are.

Sorry but Im pretty sure he’s going to piss a lot of people off with those kind of bs practices and loose a lot of potential new customers. I know he definitely lost my buisness instantly. I am not going to name the particular buisness because he is not here to try and defend his Bull Shit practices.

So basically he looses my buisness because he does not get the sale for one box of ammo he wants to charge me for to shoot on his range after spending over $ 900.00 at his store the day before, lol.
I could of just bought the box and sent my ammo down range after that. No I will not give anyone my buisness that pulls that shit. One and done brother Im down the road.

Temp job in MD, gun advice?

I have been offered a 2 month job in Maryland. This job pays pretty darn well and I could really use it now. It would involve driving from the NW across the country to MD.

I really don't want to make that drive without some kind of gun with me. I also want to make sure that I don't get arrested for having said gun with me when I get to MD.

Any advice on what is allowed?
My options to take would be

AR 15
M1 garand in 308
Glock 19
Smith and Wesson 66 375 revolver

.308 Classic Build - Bullet/Ammo Selection

I'm in the process of waiting for parts for a .308 build I have in the works. It will be a bighorn origin short, 26" criterion MTU shouldered prefit, manners prs1 with mini chassis, dmr3, 419 hellfire, and trigger tech primary.

My whole purpose of the rifle is to have a rifle I don't really mess with all too much and doesn't chase performance, for days I just want to shoot for the sake of shooting and nothing else. I mess with my other rifles a bunch, this will just stay zeroed with one ammo for basically its whole life. Weekend cruiser to my race car type of gun.

With that, I plan to go deep in factory ammo to start and then load for the rifle.

Is the gold standard for .308 factory still the federal gmm 175 smk? Does the m118lr stuff from Winchester do well? Is the 175smk the golden bullet for handloading, or should I be looking elsewhere?

Again, I'm not chasing anything but good times with this rifle, so consistent performance is the goal. I mess with my 6.5's enough, I want to set and forget this .308.

Looking for any input from those of you with a .308, and bonus points if your use case is similar to mine.

$1000 6.5 CM rifle

Guys have been great helping figure out a caliber that will work for me in the Recoil Comparison thread I started. To recap I'm new to rifles, have a bad shoulder and joined a club with a 450yd range. I need a 99% range gun 1% hunting rifle and have settled on 6.5 creedmoor.

For a rifle, I said I'm thinking either Bergara HMR or Savage Axis II Precision. Savage was shot down pretty quick, Bergara is OK but Tikka is the way to go. That said, I'm limiting my budget to $1k so Tikka is out.

So, is Bergara HMR best I can do for $1k? Other option I found would be to get a Howa heavy barreled action and an MDT Oryx chassis from Brownells.

Would appreciate opinions and other suggestions.

Supreme Court poised to eliminate racial discrimination/affirmative action

It should be laughable to hear so-called 'intellectuals' argue that racial discrimination is good and essential to a healthy society, until you realize they're serious: We must discriminate against the most capable individuals, so that we can continue to curry favor(votes) with incompetent minorities.

How do you think the 2 affirmative action SC appointees will vote?

$2000-$3000 High Power FFP

Hello All,

Looking to make my first step up from the $1000-$1300 scopes I am used to for a new PRS style rifle I am having built now.

I am wanting something with 30+X at the top end and be FFP in the $2000-$3000 range.

Rifle is a 6x47L with ambition to reach out past 1000yds on steel.

Currently thinking between:
1) Burris Extreme Pro 5.5-30
2) Zeiss LRP S3 6-36
3) NF NX8 4-32

Suppressors Glock 19 cycling issue with suppressor. Seeking Advice

Greetings lady’s and gents! Looking for some suggestions..

I picked up my rugged obsidian 9 suppressor today, and headed to the range.

The gun/host:
Glock 19 (slide was sent in to be cut for optic).
NineX19 threaded barrel
Factory internals

After mounting the supressor, I fired the first shot. Slide locked back, past the slide lock position. I could not get the slide to go forward. What I found was, the slide reciprocated so far back, that the barrel caught the slide cuts.

The obsidian 9 has 2 configurations. The full length, and half length. I tried firing some rounds down range with the supressor in the short configuration. Same problem occurred, however I was able to get at least half a mag down range, before the jam.

Note: The gun cycles just fine without the suppressor

I’m thinking the gun may be over gassed? I was speaking with a buddy at the range, he believes that the slides reduced weight (due to the cuts), is causing the gun to cycle extreamly fast/hard, with the added weight, and pressure from the suppressor.

I’m wondering if changing the recoil spring/rod would help?

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

I’m going to attach a few pictures.

Heeheehee! Germany is dismantling a wind farm to make way for a coal mine

Donald Trump is probably getting a chuckle out of this.

Germany’s left-of-center government, like most in Europe, long ago began worshipping at the Church of Climate Change, eschewing cheap, reliable fossil fuels for sketchy, unreliable and imminently more expensive “green renewable” energy sources, mostly wind and solar power.

That said, the country never really weaned itself off of fossil fuels. Rather, in a ridiculous grand scheme of virtue signaling, Germany just decided to buy most of its natural gas and other fossil fuel energy from Russia — a country that the NATO member was supposed to be defending the continent against.

Famously, then-President Donald Trump warned the country during a September 2018 speech at the United Nations, “Germany will become totally dependent on Russian energy if it does not immediately change course. Here in the Western Hemisphere, we are committed to maintaining our independence from the encroachment of expansionist foreign powers.”

At the time, German diplomats in attendance smirked and chuckled at Trump’s prophecy. He has since been proven right — again.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project Germany was building in conjunction with Russia has ceased and Russian gas is not flowing into Germany due to EU sanctions following the invasion. As such, Europe’s biggest economy is on the brink of collapse because it doesn’t have enough alternative or domestic sources of fossil fuels needed to power its industries.

But it now appears that Germany has learned a hard lesson and is coming full-circle on its energy production: The government in Berlin has elected to dismantle a wind farm so that it can open a coal mine, as reported by OilPrice.com.

Simply put, you can’t make this kind of lunacy up:

A wind farm is being dismantled in western Germany to make way for an expansion of an open-pit lignite coal mine in a “paradoxical” situation highlighting the current prioritization of energy security over clean energy in Europe’s biggest economy.

The dismantling of at least one wind turbine at the wind farm close to the German coal mine Garzweiler, operated by energy giant RWE, has already started. RWE says that lignite, or brown coal, has been mined from the Garzweiler coalfields for over 100 years.

RWE also said at the end of September that three of its lignite-fired coal units that were previously on standby would return to the electricity market on schedule in October.

“The three lignite units each have a capacity of 300 megawatts (MW). With their deployment, they contribute to strengthening the security of supply in Germany during the energy crisis and to saving natural gas in electricity generation,” RWE noted last month.

The company plans to expand the lignite mine at Garzweiler after a court in Münster in the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia ruled in the energy group’s favor over a land dispute in March in which the firm sought to expand the mine.

In remarks regarding the dismantling of the wind turbine farm to make way for the mine expansion, Guido, Steffen, a spokesman for RWE, told the Guardian: “We realize this comes across as paradoxical. But that is as matters stand.”

More like hypocritical as can be.

Still, earlier this week, the ministry for economic and energy affairs of the state of North-Rhine Westphalia urged RWE to abandon the plan to dismantle the wind farm because even as Germany starves for energy, adherents to the religion of climate change and green energy still don’t get it.

“In the current situation, all potential for the use of renewable energy should be exhausted as much as possible and existing turbines should be in operation for as long as possible,” a spokesperson for the state’s ministry told the Guardian.
