Stupid scope question. Run out of adjustment to zero

Blast from the past, trying to set up an older Leupold Mk4 in high rings but run out of elevation adjustment. I'm still about 8 inches high from zero at 100 yards before I run out of adjustment. I am going to order medium rings to get it lower/be correct. Does it sound right that it doesn't have enough elevation adjustment to get there if in High rings? The high Rings are 1.4in vs medium at 0.84in. All I have are high rings to test with. Seems to track fine otherwise.

Stupid question just want rule out the scope being a problem.

Canadian Military to Allow Face Tattoos and Dyed Hair to Be More ‘Inclusive’.

"The Canadian military is set to greatly relax their dress code rules, allowing soldiers to sport tattoos on their faces as well as grow their hair to any length they wish and dye it any colour they wish.

The Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) announced that the dress code of the Canadian armed forces would be greatly relaxed in September of this year, complaining that the current rules were decades old."

Modern day Welrod - the B&T VP9!

The Welrod pistol is one of those magnificent, elusive bastards that everyone wants, but don't appear to exist on the collector market. There's been discussions about them on this forum and none have turned up in any of our collections, which is rather surprising because the people who frequent the Vintage Section can usually find anything! I have no idea if there's any in collector's hands or if they're all relegated to random museums.

Welrod_Mk_I_%286825681998%29.jpg

Even though we can't get an original Welrod, last year B&T helped scratch that itch when they released their VP9 pistol (not to be confused with the HK VP9). The VP9 stands for "Veterinary Pistol 9mm", and was marketed by B&T as a way to humanely dispatch wounded animals or whatever. But we all know this pistols lineage and it had nothing to do with veterinary purposes.

BT_VP9_04.jpg

maxresdefault.jpg

A few years ago B&T was tasked by a government agency to make 25 ultra quiet pistols. They looked back at historical records and decided not to reinvent the wheel, but to improve upon an existing design and make a modern version of the Welrod. This pistol was extremely successful, so B&T decided to bring to to market. They were supposed to make 250 of these new VP9 kits, but there might be less than that released.

The VP9 pistol itself features a barrel that has holes in it to bleed off gas, which turns any 9mm round subsonic. The magazine is also the grip and the pistol can still fire without it in place (with a cartridge chambered), which adds to it's concealability. This is also a 2 stamp gun, since 2 silencers are included in the kit. One silencer has the wipes, which makes it amazingly quiet, the other has baffles and functions like other "normal" silencers.

Even though the B&T VP9 is sold out, the company is going to be releasing the Station 6 pistol soon. It's similar to the VP9, but will come with only 1 silencer, there's no holes in the barrel to bleed gas, the grip isn't the magazine and doesn't detach, and it will be available in 9mm and .45 ACP. The Station 6 will also be significantly cheaper than the VP9.

The VP9 was very difficult to find and all the dealers are sold out, but I managed to find one recently! I got to take the case and the pistol home, but unfortunately the silencers had to remain behind at my FFL until the tax stamps clear. Here's a photo of my kit:

I'm also on the waiting list for a Station 6 in .45 ACP, hopefully that will come in sometime soon with the dealer I ordered it from. I think he already had some of the 9mm come in, so the Station 6 pistols are definitely shipping out to dealers and are available right now. If you're someone who's always been interested in the Welrod and have been pining over one, this your opportunity to acquire it's modern equivalent! It's not practical in anyway, but fuck it, we like guns and this one is awesome! I'll post some more pics and info when the tax stamps come back in a few months, until then I just have to be patient and wait.

SPG

This is the best store bought SPG I’ve ever come across. I haven’t tried everything under the sun, but after this one, I don’t even need to. I am willing to take recommendations though!

Black Hawaiian salt, black pepper, garlic, rosemary, other stuff, espresso. I had it on some burgers last night and it’s going on some steaks tonight. It will go on some jerky soon. Good stuff

Why the stigma on local militias?

I just never got this, I know people are dumb and many take the word of the state or TV as the word of god however

Join the local volly FD: great, thanks for giving back

Join the local volly EMS: great to give back with that education in health

Volunteer at the local VFW: good you’re helping vets

Kid joins ROTC: it’ll make a fine young man of him!

Talk about starting or joining a militia: oh my lawrd!!!! Someone call the fags at the FBI!!!

I don’t get it, I mean the founding fathers spoke highly of the militia, they serve a good purpose, why has the state and TV tried to vilify that arena of civic duty?

GA Precision Thank You

So a very good friend of mine who spent six full US Army Deployments between Afghanistan and Iraq purchased a “ Custom Rifle” from an infamous smith formerly in Florida. He was run out of business by Snipers Hide Members

My buddy made the purchase while on deployment a few years back He spent a bunch of money on it. I mean 4K Thinking he was getting a great rifle because he saw the add reading like the smith made M40A1 rifles He showed me the rifle and instantly you could see the fit and finish was not like my GA Precision, Tac Ops, NorCal Precision or AJ Brown built rifles.

We took it to the range and shot it. Not very accurate No that’s too nice. It sucked He was a bit embarrassed so it went into the back of the safe for a couple of years until recently when he brought it to me to see if I could get it to shoot

I found the barrel was not free floated and not centered in the stock so I took it out of the stock. I found it looked like a beginner did the bedding. No relief at all for recoil lug. Recoil lug bottomed when tightened. The Pilars were very small and filled with epoxy to the point the screws actually were threaded into the bedding compound This would keep pressure from pulling action down into stock I fixed all that and squared up the bedding The work on this stock was the absolute worst I have ever seen done by a supposed gunsmith It took me hours and hours to un F it

Next I checked headspace. A No go gauge closed with no effort which explained why it did not shoot. Headspace was so oversized I did not think it was safe to shoot. I don’t do machine work so I decided it needed a good real rifle smith to fix it.

Well I talked with George at GA Precision and explained how my buddy had been taken advantage of. He graciously said “ Send it in we will fix it”. He took care of a hero.

Long story short GA Precision fixed it. They trued the action ( The other smith had charged for truing but had not touched the original REM 700 action) GA Precision set back the barrel fixing the headspace. Recrowned the muzzle. GA said they could not guarantee the barrel was good But my buddy did not want to buy a new barrel again if he did not absolutely have to since the original was supposed to be a Krieger . In the end the rifle now shoots great and when this questionable barrel eventually stops shooting great my buddy will send back to GA Precision to get a new one

Many smiths I have known would of just thrown everything away and start from scratch but George understood the situation and took care of it

This is rare these days. My buddy is very happy

I am glad the original smith was run out of business by SH members

Thank all of you at GA Precision

October surprise.

Will they do it ?

Anyone live within gated property? How to handle Fedex/UPS deliveries?

I reccently fenced, and gated my property. Gate at the main road. Semi rural area. I'd like to keep the gate closed while I'm away. Gate is controled by remote, no keypad. Fence is just 4ft black chain link.
Trying to think of a solution for deliveries when I'm not there. I've seen some people place a large, plastic "drop box" on the inside of the fence, where the driver can just drop the delivery over, and in the box.

Thoughts?

Need help identifying a 22lr please…

A guy I work with asked me to get this pump 22lr working, it had been disassembled years ago and came to me in pieces. He said a family member “made” the rifle. It looks like a kit or something to me, but maybe it is a production rifle. There are only two marks on the rifle total (shown in the pics): left side of the receiver and under side of the tang.

I have the rifle functioning properly now less a hammer spring, which is what I am trying to figure out now. Here is what I know about the rifle:
-pump action that has a lock on the pump link (basically a wedge that rotates out against the receiver when the action is fully closed) in conjunction with a in line bar lock on the same pump link that is unlocked when the trigger is pulled to the rear (this is inside of the receiver)
-it uses a floating firing pin that the hammer directly hits
-I am only guessing it is a 22lr as opposed to a short or something else, but it is definitely a rimfire

Here are a few pics of it:

This is the back of the hammer, the cut out on the left side of the hammer is where I assume the hammer spring should go.

Cam over or free float? Redding Type S full length sizing die

I am getting ready to setup a Redding Type S full length sizing die for a 300PRC. I do have (and will be using if necessary) the competition shell holders for the 300 PRC.

My question is… is it ideal to setup the die so that it free floats a bit?... or is best to setup the die so that there is a slight amount of cam over?

I have watched multiple vidoes, I have read the instructions that came with the Redding dies, and looked at multiple forums & it seems split as to whether to free float or have a slight amount of cam over on the sizing die.

America, piece by piece

The wife and I experienced this first hand. We were looking at a huge Alfalfa farm in Montana, we made an offer (the sellers asking price) and were in the beginning stages of purchasing when the realtor notified us that a "chinese company" bought it for cash out from under us. They apparently paid quite a bit more than the asking price, the realtor was PISSED. He wanted us to sue them for breach of contract but they returned our earnest money so we let it go.
