Gunsmithing Thompson Center announces the acquisition of Green Mountain Barrels

Neat news today... Thompson Center Arms (which recently went 'back' into family ownership) has announced that it has acquired Green Mountain Barrels.

For precision stuff, I don't think GMB is a major player. But for AR's and certainly for the muzzle-loading world, they are a mainstay.

T/C has always been a great company and a great innovator. And for us muzzle-loader builders, GMB is a definite go-to.

Probably going to be a great marriage!

Cheers,

Sirhr

Rifle Scopes Seekins Ring Weight vs Spuhr

I need to put a VX6 2-12 on my hunting rifle and I am considering the 30mm Spuhr ISMS (4001) I have lying around.

Can anyone give feedback on the Seekins 4 screw ring weight?

According to Seekins website, as I read it...30mm 4 screw weighs in at 4oz each, for a total of 8oz.
I don't have a particularly accurate scale to weigh the Spuhr but again...according to Spuhr's website: 7.1oz.

Weight is a concern, which is why I ask. Can it be the Spuhr one piece weighs less than a pair of Seekins rings?
I didn't think I'd ever put a one piece mount on my deer rifle...

Firearms Thunderbeast TBAC .338 Ultra

TBAC .338 Ultra with Area419 adapter. $1,650 shipped/insured.

I’ve had this several years and put less than 50 combined rounds of .223 and 6.5 Grendel through it. I do not like recoil and don’t have access to long-range shooting locally, so have no plans for a large caliber rifle.

Might entertain trades for high end Binos, Sako/Tikka 6.5 Creedmoor + glass.

If you are in Louisiana and have good references, we might can get this in your hands sooner than later. PM me.

Accessories LWRC M-LOK Rail 13.2" (MLXS) for DI Rifles

This was never used. $235 Shipped (about $50 savings over buying it from LWRC).

This is just the rail (if you already have an LWRC DI upper with the screws, this should work.

The handguard that comes with the 16" rifle is too short, IMHO, so this is a necessary upgrade.

Stock photos attached (including one with the barreled receiver) - I will be happy to provide photos of actual item. Listing is for handguard only.

Don't call 911!

FTFA"

Cincinnati police chief says out of 100 people watching and recording violent attack, only 1 called 911

Well at least they stopped to video:

Video is in the link, I can't find a version without the talking heads "Explaining" everything to us.

What got me was Everyone filmed it, no one called 911 or tried to stop.

I know the pit is divided on "Would you intervene or walk away" I get both--but to stop and film? Yeah DOOOOOOOMED we are.

NEW- Geissele King Hunter

Geissele Automatics released their new bolt action rifle today: The King Hunter

This will be chambered in 7mm Backcountry

Rifle Info:
The long action bolt assembly features a floating bolt head for improved lug engagement and a roller guided firing pin, to ensure the most consistent ignition possible. The bolt assembly features our Nanoweapon coating, which makes the action super smooth and incredibly corrosion resistant. The nitrided receiver sits in a Manners Long Range Hunter (LRH) OEM’d carbon fiber stock, which balances ergonomics and weight reduction, with the rifle weighing in at just over 8 lbs. Accuracy is at the forefront of design, and the Geissele 20” stainless-steel cut-rifled barrel with a 1/8 twist is complimented with the “smile-maker” super crisp two-stage Super 700 trigger.

Horizontal sway

I’m using a Caldwell The Rock front rest and a rear bag. My vertical stability is great, but I can constantly see the reticle swaying horizontally about 1 moa. I’ve tried different grip pressure, adjusting my rear bag, getting lined up, etc. Still can’t get to where I’d like to be. Parallax is set, most good groups are horizontal. I also notice this when using a bipod.

I know the answer is to just try different things and see what works. But has anyone dealt with this deficiency? What helped for you? All tips appreciated.

What Action For a .308

Going to put together a .308 rifle for general all-around use. Don't need anyone to pick an action for me, however there are a lot of people out there that experience what actions cycle effortlessly and stay running despite shitty conditions. I would like to know what actions you have seen go down the least and keep you in the game no matter what environment you're in.
