Help with new rifle $3k budget.

I just sold my custom 6.5cm built ~2016. I didn't want to sell it but I was made an offer I couldn't refuse. I don't know what's great these days in precision rifle. So I can spend a max $3000 for rifle, stock/chassis, dies and tools if needed.
I kept my Razor 4x27, badger mount and rings. I do reload.
I do not compete in PRS but have shot competition for close to 25 years at a high level. Mostly action pistol and multigun.
1. What cartridge? I want something that kicks less than a 6.5cm, efficient, easy to load not picky, can get to 1100 yards but this not likely to get used past 1000. Have factory ammo available or brass that is easy to find and doesn't cost a lot, last decent barrel life (2500 rounds?). 6GT ?
2. What action or complete rifle? I want something smooth and fast. Light bolt lift, effortless feeding and cycling. I do not have access to a lathe so the barrel has to go on with vise and action wrench, gauges, if buying action only. Would like to use unmodified AICS type mags. It doesnt need to be the best action, just something that pretty good, popular and has a good reputation.
3. Stock/chassis I like the looks of a stock, had the manners T4A and liked it, but I've shot ARs so long now maybe a chassis would be better for me. I like the ideal of adding weight to it when I wanted also. I'm not sure on the weight yet, maybe 12-18lbs without optic.
4. Barrel 24-26" M24 profile I guess. .5 moa consistently 5 shots. I know this depends on shooter load and conditions. Didn't know how to ask but I can shoot 1/2" at 100 from the bench without too much effort with the right rifle and loads. Finding the 2 together is the hard part. Hence all the questions and knowledge you folks have to offer.

How do you note your rifles current zero setting when storing a rifle?

How do you note the current zero yardage of your rifle when storing it between range days?
For instance:
If I take my 6.5 hottness and confirm zero @100yds then go to 600 and 100yds banging steel, when the day is should I pull out all the wind and elevation and leave it at 100yds Zero?
Or do you leave it at the 600yd zero or 1000yd zero? (which is my preference but does not account for changing wind)
I normally leave mine zeroed @ 600 elevation and whatever wind hold I had remaining.
But I was thinking that this "stored setting" is also related to the amount of wind on that day shooting 600, and the temperature of that day at 600 and so on...
So technically it would be more accurate to at the end of the day go back to 100yds with Zero elevation and wind (basically take out the environmental conditions that existed at range last time)
When leaving it at 600, on my next range visit I just do a hold under value to confirm yardage at 100 plate (disregard wind), then start shooting at the 600 berm.

So do ya'll just go back to zero each time? or note what yardage(and possibly wind, temp etc..) it is left zeroed for?

Which Thunderbeast?

I just got a 50 percent off cert for thunderbeast and I am trying to decide which can to get. I have an idea I want to build a 300 PRC so primarily that is what the can would be sitting on in most cases but I also may but it on some other short action cartridges. I want one of the magnus line suppressors. Currently thinking of the magnus rr or the magnus-s rr. What are some pros and cons of each. Weight is not really a factor.

Replacing the barrel on my Medium weight 14.5 inch run and gun upper

Thinking ahead to this summer, I want to replace the barrel on my run and gun upper.

Currently she has an odin works 14.5 pencil barrel in 223 wylde. I'd like to stick with the 223 wylde setup.

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

- V7 14.5 inch barrel in regular weight (interested in them after reading about them here)

- Noveske 14.5 afghan ( expensive but excellent)

- proof - carbon or SS (heard many good things)

- criterion (no first hand knowledge)

- Something from Knights? - I'm no KAC fanboy, I don't even know if you can get just a KAC barrel - but they always do excellent in 3rd party testing.

What am I missing? What other barrels should I look at? Accuracy is great, the ability to run hard and be put away wet is also pretty high on the list. I'll be running an adjustable gas block and probably a surefire comp and blast diverter.

I recently picked up a WOA barrel for my 20" AR and love it. I don't see anything shorter than a 16 inch on WOA's website though.

An arrest? An actual arrest? With charges?

Well this is a good start.

If there was a whistleblower, they should get a nice, big fat check on this one!

AXSR Question - 280 Ackley

Hello, first-time poster here. I'm interested in picking up an AXSR in 300 PRC but have a few questions I was hoping one of you might be able to answer. My plan would be to have a 280 Ackley barrel spun up, and I am trying to figure out what bolt I would need to use. Would the .308 bolt work, or will I run into issues given the LA cartridge? Would that concern be assuaged by proper barrel chambering? Would I need to modify specific magazines? Would it instead require a different bolt face on the 300 PRC bolt? Any input is appreciated - Figured I’d try asking here prior to calling Mile High or Accuracy International.

Installing a dimmer in a three way but there's not ground on the original switch.

I'm wanting to install a dimmer on a three pole switch but when I opened the switch cover and pulled the switch, there is not a ground wire attached. This in a multiple switch box.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pics-

Current switch

Edit: added pic of entire box exposed. The green on the other dimmer is connected to a bare ground wire.

New dimmer. Same manufacturer as the current switches.

I'm also wanting to add dimmers to single pole switches but those switches are in similar type box and wired exactly the same as the first pic. I initially installed a single pole dimmer but lost power to some outlets and lights I'm assuming are farther down the line from the single pole switch.
