Rock solid chassis!!!!!!

I would like to know all the specs on this rifle. Its inspiring.

Thanks!

It's a Bighorn receiver, Bartlein 1-10 twist barrel (.308) cut at 16.25 inches and fluted by Kampfeld, APA bolt knob, TBAC 30BA mount with SAC/TBAC thread protector until the can clears. Bravo Co grip, Surefire/Dueck RTS Offset sights, Nightforce 2.5-10x32 mil/mil, zs, with ARC rings. Rock Solid chassis, with the NVD rail. I added the Magpul MOE rail on the forend for bipod use.

Built by Mark at SAC. It's the sweetest rifle I've ever owned.

Barrel contour? Overall weight?

chainring,

Is that an AW or AI magazine?

In the pic, it's an AI, but I'm consolidating to AW mags.

Charger, the barrel is a Black Ops Kukri contour on a Bartlein barrel, and overall weight with a loaded AW mag is 11.5 according to my bathroom scale.

Here is my Rock Solid Chassis,

A huge pro to this chassis, besides the obvious external features, is the space for the action. It gives you a ton of flexibility, so much so, that an Original Bighorn Action fits in here, and only required about 1" of bedding behind the lug. Most chassis do not fit the early Bighorn without some serious modification. This one does...

The rifle is definitely a hammer with that action in it, and I am really happy to have upgraded this build into the Rock Solid

I highly reccomend th Wiebad mini stock pads.

They are shooters and sponsor a lot of matches.

I had one on my manners T2 as well.

Here's a picture of a couple. Installed one is a thinner version and the top is the standard version

Very high quality and nice and grippy and sweat absorbing without being too sticky or bulky like full stock packs.

I think I know the answer but Im hoping them P-mags some how fit that Rock solid stock ?

How much torque are you guys putting on your action screws with this stock? There is no recommended torque value from Todd at Rock Solid (at least not that I can find), and I see people using torque values on other stocks ranging anywhere from 45-70in-lbs. depending on the stock being used. I am using a Remington 700 action. Anyone experimented with this?

Todd said 65in-lb is what he uses

Just wanted to share my Rock Solid build. Also a big thanks to Aaron Roberts at rprifles.com for the trigger work.
5 shot group was shot at 100yds ( small circle is 1in ).

Is that one of the older Bighorn actions or one of the newer ones with the built in recoil lug?

hopefully mine shows up this week. Was supposed to ship last week, but I havent seen it yet, plus he was installing a Badger bi-pod rail for me.

I sent an email asking about the TIkka and Savage actions. Below is the reply:

"Yes I'm working on both I have been testing the tikka they should be ready in the next couple of weeks. The savage should be done by November.
Thank you for your interest in my stocks.
Todd"

This is som good news.

Mark Gordon is currently building me a 6.5 Creedmoor on a RS chassis with his signature Alpha II action.

Anxious to see/shoot the results....

I will post upon completion.

+1 if it was a folder I'd already have one :p

When I was looking into the Chassis I could have sworn word is that he is working on a folding mechanism that you will be able to add to older fixed chassis. It will require cutting out a small portion of the rear of the chassis, which shouldn't be a big deal for most to do.

Need to know two things:

1) torque setting for the action screws

2) will the new stiller spectre action fit the rock solid chassis

I can only answer your first question regarding the torque settings. Todd recommends 65 in/lbs, I've always used 55 in/lbs though and it shoots just fine.

My first custom and chassis, I must say the RS is well built, some time and energy went into it for sure.

I'm not sure if I will be keeping this rifle or not as the total weight is a little more than I like...

Does anyone have an extra RS sitting around for a Remington S/A I could try out? I've got a McRee right now and love it but the more I look at these the more I like them.

Shared these pictures with Todd so I figured id share with you guys.

And both of my treasures

I have to vent my frustration. I am waiting to hear back from Todd on my concerns and will update appropriately.

Just got my chassis and overall its very nice, but I have 2 concerns and I have an email in to Todd to see if they will be addressed, although I am not holding my breath considering the complete and utter lack of communication during the entire process. All I read about was Todd's great customer service, but I generally experienced none of it. I will be interested to see how he deals with this, if he deals with it at all.

I sent Todd a section of Badger rail, the Bi-Pod Accessory Rail. He knew this. He said "no problem, no cost to install". Sent it down with my check and the instructions for exactly what I wanted.

What I got today was NOT my section of Badger rail, it was a section of some cheap, $3, universal rail, not the $30 section of rail I sent him(and the section of rail I sent him is nowhere to be found in the box or bag of accessories for the chassis). If he couldnt install the section of rail I sent him for some reason, thats one thing, call me, email me, something and tell me that and return the piece of rail.

On top of that its not even installed centered on the chassis. The front is(I believe his CNC drills the front hole), but the rear is not centered thus causing the rail to not be aligned with the center line of the chassis. Its visibly off, maybe only 2-3 degrees, but still off.

I dont think either these things are really the end of the world as the section of rail he installed will work with my QD mount(Larue) although its a little short(the rail section) so I dont have full contact on the QD mount and its not off that far to really cause issues(I dont think), but both combined bother me.

Im really not surprised... I purchased a RS back in July, I asked Todd if he could install a Seekins rail that I have, and he said no because it would be too long. But he could install one of his rails for $15, so I agreed and sent him the money. When I received my stock it had no rail, so I texted Todd and he said he mixed up my order with "some other guy", and would mail me a rail, drill bit and tap. About 2 weeks later I texted him to remind him that I had still not gotten a package from him, with no reply. I have texted, called and left voicemails, and left messages on Facebook, all with no reply. When I was interested in buying the stock I texted with questions and had responses within minutes each time, says a lot about Rock Solids "GREAT" customer service. In one message I told Todd if he could not send the rail I wanted my money back and he could not take the time to reply or send my money back. On Monday I sold the stock, and ordered a T6A from Manners. If anyone would like to see the messages Todd and I exchanged I would be more than happy to post screenshots from my phone.

I didnt mean to turn this into a "bash" Rock Solid post and I will be very interested to see if he even emails me back. If he gets back to me and gets me taken care of I will for sure post that. If he doesnt ever get back to me, I will post that as well.

If he had told me "No I cant install that rail" after I told him what the center to center distances of the bolt holes were before I sent it down there, that would be a different story.

Or if he had tried to install it, decided it wouldnt work, and called or emailed me saying as such and that he would install his own rail on there, again, different story.

But I got no communication with him about this, a cheap ass rail installed crooked, and I didnt get MY rail back. If I knew this was going to be the outcome I would have just left it as a sling stud and bought another bi-pod(am trying to share a bi-pod between this and a precision AR).

I wont even go into the detail on the complete lack of communication and completely missed time line that went on while I was waiting for the chassis.
