    I did the same with an M14 Fort Dix 1968. Just the sternum and the groin. I could not wait to get my hands on that rifle. The DI took 6 rounds returning from patrol from a guy who didn't know the password. He could still out do me after 8 weeks of basic.

    I have the same can and do see a very noticeable cold bore POI shift. About 2 1/2" high and 3/4" left. The next two shots will be about 3/4 inch high and then it settles in.     How much brass for new rifle?

    308 - I would say 200 to start and build to 400 or 500 hundred. Every time I go all in and buy a bunch I find the same brass on sale the next week so I say 200 at a minimum to start.

    I have found TAC to be the best allround powder for 556. I load four different rounds. The most accurate proved to be 77 grain SMK on 24 grains of RL10.

    I dry fire before live fire to make sure I am set correctly and on target. If I move off center target I dry fire until I am solid and on point. It helps and saves ammo.
