I have some Varget from 1999 and loaded some .308 with 175 SMK in Win. brass, CCI BR-2, and 42 grains of Varget as a starter load. It seemed a little hot. Is old or older lots of Varget more powerful than the new lots?

At the time of this post Powder Valley Inc. indicates they have 1 lb. and 8 lb. jugs of Varget if anyone is interested; I didn't order any so I can't say for sure if it's actually in stock. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up.
