Almost forgot this thing was in the safe. This is the surprise gun at the range. Everyone thinks just another standard ar until I pull the trigger and launches 350 grains of magic

How’s that Athlon glass holding up?
It wears a Ares BTR 4.5-27x50 FFP now.

I have been an SWFA fan a long time, but Athlon is the value leader in my eyes now....but I love my 2 SWFA SS1-4HD FFP scopes dearly...

I think as far as what you get for the dollar, it is hard to beat Athlon.

not exactly a picture...

this is 5 shots from my Scar 20S at some steel hangers at 609 yards.
the one on the right is 12" but not sure what size the left one was to start. maybe 16"?
i didn't see i was a little right until i saw the miss. i should have waited for it to stop swinging and it would have been 5/5.
first time shooting from a bench at a range, so not too bad. bipod and rear bag.

Couple LWRC’s that I adore. The IC SPR has a SWFA 1-6 that I actually really like (thanks again @Bcamos ). The little guy is their NJ-legal Oscar Foxtrot (other firearm). It the only way we can own anything under 16” barrel and have a pistol brace. Btw, the Cloud Defensive OWL is the shiz!

You gotta bring that little guy down to Texas so we can have some fun with it.

What we have here is an SG 551 rifle consisting of all 100% new Swiss components with the exception of the six U.S. made parts (all 100% new as well) required to ensure ATF 922r compliance. Several years ago, I wrote to the ATF requesting the list of 922r parts present in the SAN Swiss 550-series of weapons. The better part of three years later, I received a reply. Interestingly, the ATF's list of 922r parts does not quite agree with any such list I've seen on the internet, before or since. By starting with a Swiss 550-series lower receiver group that accepts U.S. format AR' magazines, we simplify the compliance process, since the U.S. magazine (Magpul Gen III Pmag, in this case) consists of three 922r parts, the magazine body, floor plate, and follower. Then, I added the U.S.-made Shooting Sight hammer and disconnector, two more 922r parts, and a surprisingly nice trigger upgrade. These components reduce the trigger pull to a crisp 2-stage pull about 2/3 the weight of the stock Swiss rifle. To the new SAN Swiss Arms SG 551 conversion kit, or upper receiver assembly, I added a new Swiss SG 550 bolt, new Swiss SG 550 charging handle, and a new SIG 556 bolt carrier, the last U.S. made 922r part required. The rifle also comes with a new SG 551 owner's manual printed in Switzerland.

Way back, I aplied for a Permit for a 551. Gun laws being what they are, in my corner of the world, that got stuck in the bureaucracy, a bit above the local level: too short when folded, for a local decision. I got tired of waiting and made another application. Local Police gave me a permit for an AUG, and I dropped the 551 process...

During a Government Temp job, I got the chance to fire a few shots through a 550 derivative. I recall it was quite nice.

This beautifully designed and manufactured Swiss design is over 30 years old and still going quite strong.

Our nation's high speed guys explored the use of SG 550 pattern weapons about 20 years ago and perhaps used them to some extent. Knight's Armament invested a ton of $$$ in developing an aluminum lower receiver group for the SG 552 that used an M4 stock and lower receiver extension on the same Swiss folding stock mechanism, M4 safety, and M4 pistol grip. The KAC 552 lower still retained the SG 550-series magazine and AK' style mag release.

My most accurate AR is a Wilson Combat Recon Tactical 18" 6.5C.

On the right.

Not too shabby, especially since I have a knack for pulling the 5th round.

Gotta love the SG 553 RP in 7.62x39. SBR it or just add a pistol brace and you've got a compact yet potent firearm.
The current imports have a better fit, finish, and attention to detail than any SG 550-series weapons I've seen in 30 years.

and it's semi auto to boot . always wondered why besides the military no one has modernized an ar version of this or have they ? and not the mini gun or vulcan cannons just a multi barreled ar 10 300 win mag hell even a 308 would not be bad or something like that , box fed Gatling gun . this version the one in the pic would look nice to taking it to the range a couple of times per year .

Tavor SAR 9mm w/integral Mepro MOR tri power relfex sight and 5mW IR and red lasers, Omega 9k can and ASR mount. Geissele trigger bow and Timney trigger pack. The cable routed to the button in the handguard had to be cut, soldered and heat shrink applied, then ran through a high temp wire cover. Anyway, that's what that button is for in the handguard on a Tavor SAR.
