Your tan SSR replica looks great. Nice patina on the handguard too, it looks as correct as can be.
Do you have a grey one completed? I'm really looking forward to having all 3 finished!
I never acquired an early gray SSR stock, just the tan stock used on later rifles. My goal is to have 3 that are representative of the heavy-barrel profile Crane-built sniper/DMR M14s over time:
1. Circa 1989 -1996 Navy Physical Security Sniper Rifle (PSSR) or sometimes called the "M14 Port Security rifle" - which was replaced by the SSR...
2. Circa 1996 - 2010 Navy Sniper Security RIfle (SSR), but only the later version with tan stock - which was replaced by the Mk 14 Mod 2...
3. Circa 2011 to ? Navy Mk 14 Mod 2, which I consider the 'Omega' or final variant of precision M14 rifles fielded by the US military.
(I'm skipping over the Mk 14 Mod 0 and Mod 1 due to cost considerations, and space constraints within my gun safe).
Attached is a picture on page 245 of Frank Iannamico's book,
The U.S. M14 Rifle: The Last Steel Warrior (2018), which shows a rack of worn SSR rifles at Crane that were being converted to the Mk 14 Mod 2 (circa 2010 or 2011). This was the final version of the SOCOM-built precision M14 sniper/DMR rifles, and hopefully my replica/tribute of the Mod 2 will be completed in late 2020 or early 2021.
