Need pest control scope for SWMBO 10/22

Had to take the 20 ga away from the wife. She put three holes in the side of the barn shooting at egg thieves. Gave her a light 10/22 with an Aimpoint. She didn't like the scope. So I'm looking for a scope with <=4x. 99% of the time her rifle is locked in the tack room/shop locker. I have no clue what to try next. I don't want to spend $300, but that would be cheaper then fixing more holes.

Anybody have a good setup for close pest control.

Sorry nothing to add, My wifes gun is a 10/22 with a fastfire on it and she loves the hell out of it.

Put a red dot on it of some type.

She tried it with the Aimpoint and hated it. She wants some magnification but not as much as her 10x hunting rig.

I see some Nikon 4x32 prostaff at SWFA. Anybody use one?

My wife uses a Marlin 60 SS with a cheap CenterPoint red dot on squirrels and rabbits
for the short shots needed here in the North Florida brush. No parallax, no focusing,
quick target acquisition and accurate. As she puts it: "If I can see it, I can hit it."

Results from the last time she adjusted the red dot after a thorough cleaning

I put one of these on my 10/22 Takedown Mark AR MOD 1 1.5-4x20mm - Leupold | Leupold It's probably a bit more than what you want to pay, but mine has worked well so far. The local store price was $299.99 for the duplex model.

I also put one of these on a .22 LR for the kids and it has been great, but it is a little more expensive than what you are looking to spend.
