The "Other Guys" Rant... Why some many are so eager ...

Joined a few months ago and from this lowly 17 year old's perspective, you run a great site Frank. Dont believe we've ever talked over SH before but I've been soaking this site up for months and I always read your posts when I see them, mostly because you never say anything that isn't meaningful or insightful. I've learned alot from SH and I just wanted to thank you for building a community that not only accepts those of my generation, but gladly helps to answer their dumb questions about trigger weights and budget 700 builds. Thank you for your service to our country, and thank you for facilitating this community.

Never really understood the need to develop cyber popularity. Hell, even back when I first had my own internet connection when I was 12 years old. People who hated me used to always make that bullshit argument asking why I stay around when I'm hated. In all these years, my answer is pretty much that same as the one Frank gave about this not being a popularity contest. I was like 16 I think when I first joined this site. I wanted to get into LR shooting badly, but the .338RUM I had at the time just didn't agree with my shoulder or my wallet and no I didn't reload, so I took some time off from the LR scene and just read and participated here in other ways. I remember one member mentioning that I was like the official chew toy of the Hide. While I found it and the rest of the cyber bullying towards me to be amusing and downright entertaining at times, it has kind of given members the impression that I "enjoy" being treated the way I am here. That is so not the case. Just because I find it entertaining and not bothersome to me doesn't mean that it's what I wanted when I joined here. It's just that I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I think that causes the haters to be even more aggressive because they realize that their bullying has zero effect on me. Like I have already said, I didn't join this site to win a popularity contest and make friends or enemies. In fact, I would actually like to have less friends on the internet. Kind of hard to get anything done when you're trying to get into an important Skype call and you get a bazillion other contacts trying to call you as well. And don't even get me started on the countless texts I get too.

As for the whole lying to make yourself seem more impressive than you really are, I can relate with my buddy Sam. In case anyone doesn't remember me talking about him, he's the guy who was trying to tell me that a .38 Special is more powerful than a .357 Magnum. Anyways, when you hear someone's bullshit for so many years and especially when they are good friends of your's, you tend to actually look forward to hearing new bullshit spewing from their mouths. So yeah, when it comes to lying over the internet, it's not really a big deal to me when I read it. Ever since I built my computer I have now been able to catch computer related bullshit as well. Video game bullshit is my personal favorite because pretty much any gamer has a way to capture their gaming accomplishments and prove to other's that they have done it. Hell, you can even use a cheap $5 webcam to capture it, but of course they will just bullshit and say they accomplished it, but have no way to prove it. For fucks sakes this isn't the 80s where you can't prove your Atari 2600 score. This is 2014 where EVERYONE has a cell phone cam.

The difference of course being that Frank has something to offer to the shooting community besides nauseating adolescent bed-wetting gamer advice. (BTW, its not a bullshit argument when you offer nothing but drivel and attract flies like hot dog shit in the Texas sun.)

I feel its time to turn a new leaf and come clean, sorry guys but im actually a 16 year old asian female living in taiwan. I spent most of my youth as a pornstar you may know me by Sukha Mi Pooty Tang. I am sorry for all the lies of being a hair dresser and certified nail technician. It's puberty.

Man, had a lucid moment... e-blah.

I guess at the end of the day what I am saying is, if you're gonna follow someone and tell me to fuck off, I have no problem with that, just make sure you're following the right person.

It's embarrassing to later learn you followed MazerBlade out to the door parroting his line of attack. I'd hate to picture you all in diapers telling Frank Fuck Off stories on the Internet to anyone who will listen. Cause even MazerBlade can buy a domain and start a website, but that doesn't mean you want to visit. :) It's not always about the sales pitch.

Frank, You run a good site
I have been here longer than I care to think about.
This is where my son taught me how to do a computer. I actually thought these questions I put in were being answered by a computer, not someone on the other end that was a real person. I really had no clue what all of this Internet Shit was. To this day I still know very little, just enough to get by, but I learned it all here. The Rifle shooting is fun too. I knew a little more about that than computers, so stuck around, and learned lots.
I enjoyed watching the Cup this year. That was a Class AAAA 1+ event. Regards, FM
The Wildcat drainage is a beautiful place.

it wasn't completely abandoned, there were a dozen or so guys on it with machine guns... unfortunately the building they were in was a once fired TOW Missile depository...

Never met you, doubt I ever well. Your site, your contribution to shooters is non measurable. Keep up the good work and fuck the naysayers.

Every one in business has to deal with the same shit on one level or another. I'm not in the gun industry but I have had my fair share of the same kind of nonsense. I wont bore you with the stories. I can say I have learned over the years if you build something great and stand by it, Admit when your wrong, and resolve any problems in a fair manner. Than it wont matter what any one says or does to you. They will always have some sort of fan club most of the time its people of the same caliber and moral principals. In a way that's fine because you can see who is in the group and steer clear of them. I have been a member here for a few years now and this is the only site I feel comfortable trading on. I have hade 5 deals so far in excess of $1,500 and all of them went well. I have NEVER! spent money like that on any other internet site EVER! probably never will.

good job and well done on this site and attracting (for the most part) good people

This I can agree with. Ive had 3 deals on here, all were honest, all went well. I can't say the same for other places. Not even Gunbroker.

It's not just about the dealings. I'm 90% set up to reload all of the info that I have used has come from here I have read through the reloading threads many times. I'm also very close to stretching my distances out to 1000yds this site has helped with that. The info is more than just fluffed up claims (most of the time) its real world accurate technical info. I can't say that about the other sites.

Never understood the desire to be accepted by people on the internet. Who cares?
There have been some fun times in The Bear Pit and other forums but I can't begin to know the motivation to bitch,
whine, and moan at what others might be typing online.
(Aaaaaah, to have been a moderator. Not! I would rather poke my forehead repeatedly with a fork).

Frank and many others, thanks for excellent information over the years on the Hide. There is NO other website anywhere with better information for shooters.
How many of the Chairborne Rangers that make offhand comments but never seem to make it to a range? My guess is plenty.
In the words of Jered Joplin- "Shut up and Shoot!"

this is the line to kiss MazerBlade's Butt... my ship sailed a long time ago.

Thanks a lot Frank for putting such a horrible picture in my head. I've seen the faces of plenty of members here. I don't want the lips of those ugly faces anywhere near my gorgeous ass! :D

Wow, pretty crazy, since I remember Shaggy calling out "posers" not long before he left this site. Hadn't heard that name in years.

Hopefully this will lead to some soul searching and soul cleansing.

I have a confession....

I want to bang that Flo chick from those Progressive Auto Insurance commercials.

I have no idea why, but I just do....

Well, if all the people who were "Sniping" you had met you and left there ego at the door things may have gone better for them. I have met Frank many times and talked on the phone with him. When we are at the Shot show, he will always make time to see me. I am nobody special, but thats the kind of guy he is. When we first met, there were no assumptions, ya Frank is a little hight challenged, but we are all the same hight when we are laying down. But we talked about what we love, thats ballistics and long range tactical shooting. Frank has a huge knowledge base and a big heart to go with it. Being straight forward and truthful is how we were trained. If you cant take the truth you wernt looking for it. With all his accomplishments, it hurts peoples egos that it comes from him. If you fuck up, he will tell you, if you listen and make the changes and do great he will tell you to. Thats the way we get better at what we do. Frank has tested several of my bullet designs, although i am not a sponsor on any site, he gave them a great review, only because he thought they deserved it. He also bragged in front of me at the shot show about them. Which i thank you but I know you have sponsors and a business. In the end i think people are jelious of your accomplishments. And what you have done has shown more intestional frotatude and drive than the poges that are causing this shit. I am familure with this because I design bullets and have gone through the same shit. Years of shooting as a sniper, hunter and pecision shooter dosent qualify me to design a bullet. I am just a grunt and you are stupid. So to all of you that do something very well, i know you show your pride, until someone comes along and is better at it than you. Then you attack the one who beat you. Lets change this around. f someone beats you, congradulate them and then see what they can teach you to help you improve. Dont attack them, it only makes you look like a sore loser and an ass.
Well my rant is over. I love ya frank and I hope you feel better. Steve

Hey Frank, iv'e been on this site for many years. It's great. I meet you down in Oregon , Oregon Sniper Challenge and am a good judge of people - and i give you a thumbs up. And if anybody gives you grief send them to me and i'll send Boltripper over and he can owl test them. (Owl Test = see if their head turns all the way around) :)

Well Frank, fuck 'em two times, I like what you made here and it's like my internet home. The core folks around here are a different breed from what you find on average. I've also managed not to get banned or have my service called into question here over asinine bullshit.

Great job, great site, keep it up. And yeah, I learned more from teaching SDM's than I ever learned on my own. I'd say I learned more about shooting by watching them at one point than I did doing it myself.

Hope you feel better.

Frank,

You run a great site. I've been a member for about 7 or 8 years now & I might have all of 15 posts.....why? Because I come here to learn & gain knowledgeable & skill.....I've learned to keep my mouth closed unless I have something useful to add to the discussion.

I know for a fact that my skills as a shooter has improved from your instructions on here & I thank you. Keep up the good work. ?

...
We went over 8 years here before a single ad appeared on this site... to keep that in mind.

Frank, don't have any guilt regarding the advertising. No remorse needed for adding the sponsors - they provide a very valuable service to the members. Thanks to the advertiser/sponsors on Snipers Hide, I have found a number of specialized products and unique services that otherwise would be very difficult to identify. Further, the Hide's members review and evaluate their experiences with these vendors, helping the selection process ensuring survival of the vendors with the highest quality products and best customer service -- a value that goes way beyond simple advertising. Just think about how many of the sponsors are active in the forums, exchanging ideas/feedback/pointers for their customers, and often modifying their products based on forum feedback. That is such a great aspect of the Hide, and I know it is invaluable for the entrepreneurs involved in these (mostly small) businesses as well.

In my line of work (I supply optics to a number of Canadian LE agencies) I've come to look at this place as one of the best to get no bullshit info on stuff I just don't know about.
One of only a couple of forums I check on a daily basis at least.
I count myself privileged to be someone you've taken the time to ban. I pushed on a political issue, you warned me, I pushed again and was banned.
The longest 90 days of my life ;)
Keep up the good work.
