Ok, been sick in bed all weekend, ended up with Strep Throat and it's time for me to RANT since I can't talk.

When I started this site, and not with the core guys Like Greg L, but once we hit about 2000 members people used to fall over themselves trying to claim I lied about everything. I was accused of forging my Sniper School Certificate, not being a Marine, to the point where the President of the USMC Scout Sniper Association had to say, probably more than once, "Hey he is vetted knock it off". It was pretty common to hear stories of people saying I was full of shit. Or when proven wrong that my actual service didn't amount to anything.

Now I am not expecting people to like me at, I never operated with the motive of making friends, I did what I wanted to do, my way. I purposely avoided having accounts on other boards, and did not spend any time watching the other guys in order to position myself better. Instead I went out and did things like teach, shoot competitively and never backed away from the idea, I am happy to fail in public rather than build up my resume online. I have no reason to inflate my personal experiences because let's face, nobody pays it no mind. It's my experience and it doesn't matter to the next guy or to someone reading any posts I made. We all have the ability to take or leave it. It's TV, if you don't like the show we can all change the channel.

But over the years, we have been the launch point for a lot of "other sites" out there. And if you have a good reason to start another site, good on you. One example is Paul over at 6mmbr.com / Accurate Shooter... he expanded the niche and does a great job. But there have been a lot of others who's sole reason for starting a site has been to poke me in the eye. They don't like me, they can do it better, yadda, yadda. I'm this, fuck Frank on that, he's an Asshole... I have heard it all, and I have seen them come and go. They start a site, stick ads on it from day one with 300 members (after PM'ing people on here) and call me greedy. We went over 8 years here before a single ad appeared on this site... to keep that in mind.

In the last few months, you had Sniper Company come and go, and that was direct offshoot of this place because originally I insulted the Shawn, and then banned a bunch of guys who were having fun taking pot shots at me on here. Sure I saw them poking me daily and finally said fuck it and banned them. At which point SC was born.

People were all too happy to believe everything they read, you didn't see much, but you heard an awful lot. You had pictures with celebrities in the industry, big names who bought the BS and were happy to pose. Fast forward to today....

Over the last few months, we at PRE have been dealing with the personal struggles of Pete Petersen (aka Shaggy). Wil and I have spent that time trying to help someone we thought we knew well through what appeared to be a severe struggle with PTSD and alcoholism. In the course of helping this person get back on his feet, we discovered that he's been lying to all of us, about everything.

As far as we've been able to confirm in the last two weeks (and now by his own admission), Pete's "career" since at least 2005 is entirely fiction. To most of us, Pete's portrayed himself as a SWAT Sniper for various Police Departments & Sheriffs Departments in Texas and recently as a member of the Louisiana State Attorney General's office investigating child pornography and other sex crimes. To others, we're now learning he's claimed to have been an Army Ranger Sniper, or a Scout Sniper with 3/2 Marines. He's also claimed to have worked for Blackwater as a DDM/Sniper at some point between 2004-2007.

To put it bluntly, none of that is true. We have now been able to confirm, and he has admitted (in recorded phone call) to the following: He has never been on any SWAT team, he has never served a day in any military service. He has never worked for Blackwater in any capacity. He has never worked for the state of Louisiana in any capacity. He worked as a part time dispatcher for UT Arlington's PD for a period of 5 months before a very short stint as a police officer in the DFW area. Since 2005, Pete's worked for Dell computers as a sales associate until recently, when he moved to New Orleans where he currently works as an IT associate for PoolCorp, a national swimming pool supply company, located in Covington, LA.

To be clear, Pete has never been in control of the financial/business side of PRE, and he has not had an active role beyond contributing a few facebook posts since February of this year. Wil and I are both committed to the success of PRE and will continue putting every bit of energy into it's continued success.

Pete has lied to all of us, and to a large part of the firearms industry. Wil and I are incredibly angry and are actively pursuing every legal avenue available to ensure he does not do this again. We're posting this publicly, and tagging each of you so that we can ensure you're fully aware of what's transpired in the last few weeks and to ensure Pete is never able to step foot in the firearms industry again.

Now I have no ill will against Shaggy, I have stood face to face with him, and listened to what he had to say. But I never once believed anything he said. In fact I called him out in 2010 and said as much. Still people were happy to jump on the bandwagon because the story sounded great and he wasn't Frank.

There is a reason people will entertain stuff that really makes no sense, they want you to like them. They believe this is a popularity contest rather than a meaningful exchange of information. If you are willing to embrace something that doesn't pass the sniff test, you aren't looking for valid information, you're looking for someone to agree with you, or you're looking to make friends u'd we all know how well I do that. The difference is, I don't care if you like me, I don't care if you need me to agree with you, none of that changes anything. The only reason that matters is if you are looking to collect FB Friends. If goes against my personal experience I will say so, and while people will complain about my "tone" it's nothing more than straight forward.

Tone over the internet is nearly impossible to determine, yet I get comments about my "tone" all the time. It's usually because I poked a hole in their theory as to why. Sure I am quick to blame the shooter over some microscopic variation but that is what my experience has taught me. Yes David Tubb might be able to discern the difference, "Bob" with is new 5R cannot. That is my Tone... I do classes every month, mostly brand new shooters, that illuminates a lot of things.

Well I have made my point about as well as I can with a head full of DayQuil, so take if from there... but understand SH has been doing this a long time and it's not because of me winning popularity contests, but because we don't suffer fools and we value solid information over the talk. You can question my tone, it's a lot harder to question the level of my experience when it comes to a precision rifle.

Roger that. Kind of goes hand in hand with the conversation we had the other day.

    Success breeds imitation.

arf15 this is not, thank God for some blessings.

Posers come and go each with motivations which may never be known.None of which I care to know why.

Hope you're feeling better but when you swap spit with strangers that's what happens.

Many persons are envious of other's success. Being the proprietor of a forum makes Frank/you an easy target as they can say things and run away. Some people are like this. If the site was less successful, or you had never been a marine, they probably would not attack you. The harder you try and the better you become, the more these people try to bring you down.

There is a Bob Dylan song about this, at least that what I think the meaning is. Apparently people were constantly nipping at him, trying to chip away, to bring him down somewhat.

    "Rainy Day Woman # 12 & 35"

Well, they'll stone ya when you're trying to be so good
They'll stone ya just a-like they said they would
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to go home
Then they'll stone ya when you're there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned.

Congrats Bob on the new 5R !!!
    LMFAO :)

    Sorry sniffles :)

There are a lot of people who want to be somebody special...and some get pretty carried away with their fictions to make themselves look important. I don't know why, maybe there's some feeling of inadequacy or insecurity driving it. It usually all comes apart at some point. Seems like it'd just be so much easier to be yourself and not have to keep track of which lies were told to what person.

Most of, if not all, of the people who do "special" things in the Military don't ever skylight themselves to come off as special or need recognition. Those that do are normally found to be posers.

When I started this site, and not with the core guys Like Greg L, but once we hit about 2000 members people used to fall over themselves trying to claim I lied about everything.
I recall it being about the 1500 mark, and can still remember some of the names who reg just for a thread or two.
Like any site on the net,
    Some want to learn,
    Some to relearn,
Some are there for head games only,
And yet others are there to run a game.

Lol, why am I not surprised about Shaggy. I always had a weird feeling about some of the stuff he said, but I try to keep to my lane most of the time.

    Crazy

But apparently Frank he has complex issues and needs support...

I think I was #23-24 and am still here.
I think the site is fine, wish I were more computer literate but Old is OLD.
Keep up the good work. Regards, FM

Frank, I am a newer member and I really enjoy the information I have learned and the support the membership has given me in my quest to become a better shooter. I would like to just thank you and the membership for all the support us new members have been given.
    Blessings,

The experience of those here and the refusal to suffer fools is the primary reason I'm here.
Thanks for building and maintaining the forum.

People don't realize their lies to themselves open them up to believe the lies of others. They know in their conscience they're lying and need other people to validate their position and help salve their conscience. Too proud to admit to themselves the testimony of their own conscience, they would rather practice a hundred forms of deception than find and humble themselves to the truth. All the while using any and all means to quiet their conscience (substance abuse among others), they use every mental faculty at their disposal to defend a position that they used less than half their abilities to establish. Ironically, to the deceived, the man telling the truth appears arrogant and full of himself, a charge that alot of these men make in the courtroom of the public's opinion, where it gains traction, because so many men in that court are also deceiving and being deceived and don't recognize the lack of substance. The truth introduces such a great dichotomy and exposes the hearts of men. Wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.

Many people get jealous of someone else's success (Frank's). It is much easier to criticize, monday morning quarterback, or rip on someone than it is to go off on their own and show everyone that they too can be successful, or conversely to risk failure in a very public way.

Frank, you are a prick sometimes, always at the right time it seems though. You run this site like a good Sergeant, firm and fair, even when you banned me for a few days for getting political, still don't agree with you on that one, but hey its your site and you are more than fair in everything else. I did not know the history behind this site, good to read. Funny you mention accurateshooter and the tidbit of history there, its the other site I frequent.

As far as being a Marine???? You do string a lot of sentences together for a Marine, or even an Army guy.

Keep up the good work man, fk everyone else, stay Operator as FK

The "Other Guys" Rant... Why some many are so eager ...

I lie to myself all the time. But I also call myself out on most of it.?

Listen, I have no issues with Shaggy the person, I have met him on a few occasions and he is fine in person, but the BS was pretty clear. I always chuckled at the need to surround himself with the names, and thought it was bit over the top, but hey, it was part of the ploy and it worked.

Back when it mattered I called him and others out over this, and thankfully a few who remembered it, have recognized the fact, I called this. My bigger issue is the people who blindly followed and then parroted the lines to put this place down. it was all to easy for them to fall in line and repeat the lies. That's the sad part, done right none of this comes easy and if it looks easy you're not paying attention. So when things are presented in that way, hold on to your wallet.

I didn't know there was already a thread about this, after all who the hell reads what Maggot posts anyway, I notice the stuff worth banning him over.

But it just goes to show, not everything out there is what it seems and time in grade does matter.

"Frank, you are a prick sometimes," says ArmyJerry

I noticed this, as well. He's USMC, so, it's understandable. lol

    Good site, Amigo.
    Get well.

Frank, you're still a sniper to me, even if you're only sniping fat chicks at the bar! Wait, what?

is there a beer commercial in there somewhere?

    .............................I love you man............................

Frank... You're a hell of guy... For being a Gnome.... You've always been fair and straight forward... I love ya man...

Btw... Get some rest.... You look terrible...

Aaron, thanks for holding that safety line, it could have gotten ugly in there.

I did lie about my height, especially in bootcamp... :)

I also fudge my weight every now and then, but that is another story.

I came to SH for help (information) and found what I needed to go 1000 yds on a 24" target. Mostly just by reading here, watching some of Franks vids and buying the Rifles Only dvd. In my humble opinion, there is solid info here and not very much bull to wade through. My journey has been easy so far and it's because Frank has rules and keeps them. I own a business myself and the "man" always seems a prick to the ignorant and unappreciative, but they owe him, don't they.

BTW, I owe you $100. PM sent.

    I remember Pete.
He helped me get some good deals on a laptop for a local family I was helping. Jordan, a teenager with a crippling debilitating disease, needed a computer that she could control by speech. We got some donations from local groups, I donated my time, and Pete helped with getting us a great deal from Dell on the hardware.
I believe he and I did a few more bids and deals together after that. I eventually lost touch with him, but all of my dealings with him (none shooting related), led me to believe he was A-OK.
At then end of the day, that's all anyone can go on; their own personal experiences.
    I wish the man well.

Hey Frank if these bozo's have there own MRE forum why do they have to come on the hide to cry about how some poser sucked them in.

The trying to be someone your not by using fake military/le stats is fkd up and all to common these days. I did my time in the army. The only cool thing I did was go to sniper school in the mid 90s and I didn't graduate cause I sucked at range estimation (I still have a hard time with it). Why can't these pussies own up and just try to be better people. People suck, liars can fk off, fakes can suk a fat babies dk on a cold day. Be who you are.
Sorry for my mini rant. Its all good Frank, fk em.

I feel left out. I missed the posts where "Shots" were being taking at you, Lowlight. That had to be some funny stuff. I don't know you and have never met you but plenty of people here have. I can't believe it went well for someone slinging crap in your direction. From my short time here I have read some of your dealings with others. Straight forward and no bull. The Hide is a place where BS gets called and not for the thin skinned. The reason I checked out SH was after reading on other forums about someone getting their feelings hurt. Had to check into the validity of the complaints. Guess I'll keep coming back.

Since you appear to be following the thread Mr Frank, I was just wondering, do you teach classes at Rifles Only?

Sorry about the off-topic post.. and otherwise thanks for the site. Between here and accurateshooter, I doubt you`ll find two better places to absorb everything you possibly can thats shooting-related.

    @Forgetful Coyote

I did work at Rifles Only for many years, however I have not taught there since 2011. I tend to stick close to home now.

for the other question, or comment, there is always some kind of mudslinging going on, it's the nature of the game. Most of it gets ignored, I generally only respond when directed at me, either personally or directly. Usually it's quite laughable but there is always someone happy to stir the pot.

Thank you sir. As far as the other guys, not real sure why they have to try to pit themselves against you, or us, or snipershide or whatever it may be at the time. From everyone Ive met, and personally shot with, or talked to on here, are all good to go. Only the posers are looking for enemies for some reason but theyre looking in the wrong place. As shown, many of them have some type of fantasy ego. Coincidentally, these are almost always the types who wouldnt dare show their face at a competition and test their skills and equipment. As we all know competition makes humble men of us all. Nor would they step foot on a true battlefield, as the same could be said for that. Legends in their own mind as it is said.

Never really understood the need to develop cyber popularity. Hell, even back when I first had my own internet connection when I was 12 years old. People who hated me used to always make that bullshit argument asking why I stay around when I'm hated. In all these years, my answer is pretty much that same as the one Frank gave about this not being a popularity contest. I was like 16 I think when I first joined this site. I wanted to get into LR shooting badly, but the .338RUM I had at the time just didn't agree with my shoulder or my wallet and no I didn't reload, so I took some time off from the LR scene and just read and participated here in other ways. I remember one member mentioning that I was like the official chew toy of the Hide. While I found it and the rest of the cyber bullying towards me to be amusing and downright entertaining at times, it has kind of given members the impression that I "enjoy" being treated the way I am here. That is so not the case. Just because I find it entertaining and not bothersome to me doesn't mean that it's what I wanted when I joined here. It's just that I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I think that causes the haters to be even more aggressive because they realize that their bullying has zero effect on me. Like I have already said, I didn't join this site to win a popularity contest and make friends or enemies. In fact, I would actually like to have less friends on the internet. Kind of hard to get anything done when you're trying to get into an important Skype call and you get a bazillion other contacts trying to call you as well. And don't even get me started on the countless texts I get too.

As for the whole lying to make yourself seem more impressive than you really are, I can relate with my buddy Sam. In case anyone doesn't remember me talking about him, he's the guy who was trying to tell me that a .38 Special is more powerful than a .357 Magnum. Anyways, when you hear someone's bullshit for so many years and especially when they are good friends of your's, you tend to actually look forward to hearing new bullshit spewing from their mouths. So yeah, when it comes to lying over the internet, it's not really a big deal to me when I read it. Ever since I built my computer I have now been able to catch computer related bullshit as well. Video game bullshit is my personal favorite because pretty much any gamer has a way to capture their gaming accomplishments and prove to other's that they have done it. Hell, you can even use a cheap $5 webcam to capture it, but of course they will just bullshit and say they accomplished it, but have no way to prove it. For fucks sakes this isn't the 80s where you can't prove your Atari 2600 score. This is 2014 where EVERYONE has a cell phone cam.
