Dual purpose optic

Hello everyone. I just joined after a long time of coming across this forum during searches. I currently have an Eotech XPS and magnifier on my AR15 and I don't have any experience with variable magnified optics.
I'm thinking about a Steiner T6xi 3-18x56 MIL for my new Larue 18" 308. I will be deer hunting with this and outside of hunting season, I'll be target shooting out to 500 yards (with the rare possibility of over 500 yards).
For those with a 3-18x optic (or even this exact optic), does this seem plausible for both hunting and target shooting?
Thanks in advance, and glad to learn from everyone here.

You can bet there was some giggling as DNC lawyers with their lisping voices sent agents to crash Giulani's birthday bash. Bunch of petty, chickensit faggots.

It appears this is a warning by Demoncrats to anyone questioning the next stolen election.

KRG Whiskey-3: Am I just too perfectionist?

Recently bought a KRG Whiskey-3 Comp pack. First time installing the spigot to the chassis, found the spigot is not super align with the barrel tunnel.

Spigot_Misalignment.jpg

Contacted KRG, sent it back, and they fixed it. All good! I can't be more happy with their CS.

However, my initial guess on the misalignment is due to something wrong with the backbone, like the angular error. I did put a bubble measure on different parts of the backbone and can confirm the backbone is twisting counterclock-wise from rear to the front. This tilt is still present after their service. I did measure the forend and the backbone separately today, both of them have this counterclock-wise twist.

I know the chassis, though precision machined, is not holding as tight tolerance as the action or the barrel. But is this type of twist considered normal in machining tolerance? or I'm just being too perfectionist?

If you folks have the KRG chassis, especially W3, and a bubble level on hand, would you mind measuring yours as well?

chinese scope quality increased?

my father and I have unwittingly turned into glass snobs over the course of our lives thanks to so many bad experiences and so much wasted on cheap (probably) Chinese made scopes. we haven't tried anything Chinese made in about 5 years.
I was putting together a rimfire for kicks and giggles and ordered a 5-25 venom off amazon for 420$ honestly expecting to send it back.
first impressions of this scope are amazing. if it tracks close and repeatably it will definitely be a keeper for rimfire. no idea how it would hold up on a SA comp rifle but this may be the legit ticket for rimfire. first pretty day here I'll take the razor2, nf, tt, and venom out and snap a few pics because I'm flat shook.
turrets, VERY stiff(excellent) and positive, not near as much mush as I expected.
glass was devastatingly good, like old school viper glass...
parallax was stiff but it works so I can definitely get used to it.
is this the norm for chinesium scopes nowadays? really hope this thing lasts.

SOLD Marlin Golden 39A .22 lever action

Reasonably good condition Marlin 39A for sale. $550 plus shipping.

Some light surface rust, some light pitting, stock has scratches, etc. Considering it is an old gun that was actually used it is in good condition, but it's also not a safe queen. Functions perfectly. Very nice 22 lever action. Feels much more like a "real" rifle than the Henrys I have shot. The lever has a fairly short throw and the gun is well proportioned.

Only selling because I don't use it. Nothing wrong with it, I'm just one of those weirdos who doesn't like keeping guns around that aren't being actively used.

Hunting Rifle: 7mm Rem Mag or 7mm SAUM?

Deciding on a build. Thoughts:

published velocities are 100 fps slower for SAUM, but I'm thinking with 10 grains less capacity than 7mm Rem Mag, that may be an underestimate of the gap in real world, esp seated long

You can't fill the SAUM case with enough of any Hodgdon powder (per QL) without being seriously compressed, so I see most shooting stuff like RL23/RL26, which is unobtanium. Plus I have plenty of H1000 H4831SC and Retumbo on hand and only RL19 and RL50

Is saving 1" length on the action important? Will most short actions accommodate a 175 or 180 ELD without loading too deep and encroaching on case volume?

I don't care about the belt

ADG SAUM brass is in stock right now, seems like that problem is more or less solved

Is SAUM a better (more efficient or more "inherently accurate" or easier to tune) cartridge?

Thoughts?

Firearms Defiance 419 6mm creed - ACC - TT - $2,600 shipped

So I got this back after trading it away and in the meantime I found out something really cool about it. It is an original Team 419 action (defiance deviant rebranded). Turns out the 419 guys want it back and have offered two solutions to anyone interested.

1) send it to them and they’ll give you a brand new deviant and fit the current barrel to it.
2) shoot the barrel out and send the action to them and they’ll give you a brand new deviant to replace it.

All that being said, this gun is a hammer! Smoothest cerakote action I have ever felt. The action has a barrel life on it (1000+ rds), but the barrel has about 130 of mostly hand loads at 2650.
- bartlein 1:7 twist 28” threaded 5/8x24
- Triggertech special single stage straight shoe
- MDT ACC chassis with upgrades including buttstock weight kit, new cheek riser, forend weights (have 4), and bag rider
- (1) magazine included that isn’t pictured.

I hate the weight question on match guns but it’s heavy. Like 18+ lbs. remove the weights if you want it lighter. Add them if you want it heavier 🪄

I would trade toward a FDE ATACR 5-25 or 7-35 Mil with any reticle except MIL-C. Also open to other high end mil mil optics.

I will split for $1200 for the chassis.

$1400 for the barreled action. - SPF
