No, as a matter of fact, reloading does not save you money

But does it sure make it more enjoyable to shoot!

started down this rabbit hole in August of 2022. The height of overpriced components. Didn’t let that stop me. In fact, this very forum is what finally pushed me over the edge. I was sick and tired of 1”+ groups as a best with factory ammo, for the most part of course. Jumped in with both feet. Sold a Scar17 I had that I never shot in order to fund the start of it. It isn’t even a drop in the bucket now of what I’ve spent. I currently have more In inventory than just about all the LGS’s around me. All I want to do now is shoot tiny groups and bang steel at the local range. I went from shooting once a month to usually twice a week. I own cartridges you can’t get factory loadings for. Cool ass rifles and cheap ass rifles. The great thing is, thru reloading, they mostly shoot the same.

So let this be a lesson for those that don’t reload, it is expensive and you probably won’t save any money. But it sure is a lot more fun when you can hit things you never thought possible and shoot groups smaller than you’ve ever seen. As we wind down to the end of the year, I was out cleaning up all my empties so far. This does not include all the stuff currently sitting on the shelf that has already been opened. This is just the stuff I have completely emptied in about 15 months. It’s been crazy. And I wouldn’t ever go back to what it was like prior to getting bit by the bug.

Thank you to the forum for all the tips and tricks. I could never have done it without the reloading forum here. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Range Hard Cases? Condition 1, Apache, or just Pelican?

Need to update and organize my garage sale of range gear from various small cases, a backpack, etc. No plans on flying with it, just range and back. Open to a soft case, though a hard one with wheels seems like the way to go. I've got the basic Costco black and yellow tubs with no wheels and they're nice, but I've broken a number of the lids before so need something decently sturdy.

I know something like the Pelican 1650 would probably work (though I might want the next size up.) Before I invest Pelican level money, what are people thoughts on the more affordable options out there? For example, the Harbor Freight Apache 5800 is less than half the price. I've also seen ads for these Condition 1 cases which seem interesting (but then again, possibly just Facebook/online ad spamming.) Or, any other brands, options? Goal would be mags, range supplies, ammo, belt, PC if I'm feeling LARP-y, eyes/ears, admin, etc.

I've got a Pelican 1750 for one rifle and it's bombproof. I got one of the smaller Pelican Vaults for handguns and it's decent, but I should have gotten something larger. So a small concern is also buying too small again. Would rather have a little extra space than not.

Dear Neighbor (political propaganda)

I have no idea how one of my email addresses got on this mailing list, but I find these propaganda emails interesting to read
I get one from some leftist schmuck about once a week

Economic Recovery? and the claims on inflation?

Are there no fact checkers on emails sent from members of congress? Seems like an email full of distorted reality, no?

Reinforcement like this is why those that vote left think they are doing the right thing and anyone that isn't pro-biden isn't working with 'facts'...

delinked link - h t t p s://connolly.house.gov/news/email/show.aspx?ID=LXUSPI7FOFAZ6

Anyone have an email from the opposing side listing all of Bidens failures?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Neighbor,

In my last newsletter, I wrote to you about some good news in our fight against climate change. Today, I want to take the chance to share some more good news with you – this time, on our historic economic recovery.

Since taking office, President Biden and his Administration have worked tirelessly with Democrats in Congress to deliver an economic recovery that outpaces the rest of the world and benefits all Americans. That hard work has more than paid off. But don’t just take my word for it. The numbers speak for themselves:

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs

President Biden has overseen the creation of more than 14 million new jobs since taking office, including nearly 800,000 new manufacturing jobs.
In fact, job growth has outpaced pre-pandemic predictions, with nearly 2 million more jobs created than the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) predicted in January 2020 before the pandemic took hold.
The unemployment rate has stayed below 4 percent for 22 straight months.
Before COVID, the CBO anticipated a 4.2 percent unemployment rate by the end of 2023. Instead, we have delivered a 3.7 percent unemployment rate – even better than expected had the pandemic not occurred.
Americans have filed a record 14.6 million applications to start new businesses since President Biden entered the White House.
Wage and Wealth Growth

Wages, wealth, and the share of working-age Americans with jobs are all higher than before the pandemic, and wages and salaries are both growing faster than prices.
On average, wages and salaries have grown by $15,000 since the start of 2021, outpacing price increases by $3,500.
Over the past year, wages for low income individuals grew by 5.9 percent while wages for middle income individuals grew by 6 percent.
According to the Federal Reserve, the average net worth of Americans across all income levels, ages, and races rose from 2019 to 2022.
Tackling Inflation and Lowering Costs

After peaking in summer 2022, inflation has been on a downward trend for a year and a half, dropping by 65 percent since last summer.
Gas prices are down more than $1.90 from their peak, and grocery inflation is at its lowest level in two years.
This November brought the first month-over-month drop in prices since April of 2020, with prices decreasing by 0.1 percent compared to October. And the year-over-year increase in prices came in lower than expected, with an increase of just 2.6 percent since November of 2022.
Much remains to be done to lower prices, but all of this brings us closer to a true soft landing – lowering inflation without causing a recession and increasing unemployment.
Growing Our Economy

Defying forecasts, the US economy has continued to grow significantly. Last quarter, our economy grew by 4.9 percent, the fastest rate of growth in two years.
The level of US real GDP in 2023 even exceeded some pre-pandemic forecasts, including by the CBO and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In fact, our economy today is 0.2 percent larger than the IMF predicted it would be without the COVID pandemic. To put that in perspective, Europe’s economy is 2.2 percent smaller than its pre-covid prediction, while China is missing the mark by 4.2 percent.
For years, we have heard from the naysayers and pessimists that there was no avoiding a recession. That the US couldn’t possibly get prices under control without shrinking the economy and putting millions of Americans out of work. President Biden and Democrats have proven them wrong.

There is a lot of work left to do, and we are not entirely out of the woods yet. Prices are still too high and too many Americans are still struggling. But the truth is we are in significantly better economic shape than experts believed possible, we are outperforming our peers across the world, and all signs point to even more improvement in the months ahead.

As we look toward the new year, let’s remember the good news. Let’s celebrate the progress we’ve made. And let’s be grateful that, despite our struggles, our economy is among the strongest in the world and well positioned for the future.

From all of us here on Team Connolly, I want to wish you a very Happy Holidays! As always, my team and I are here to help. If we can be of assistance, please don't hesitate to call us at (703) 256-3071.

Sincerely,
Gerald E. Connolly
Member of Congress

Reloading Equipment 1300rds 50BMG - Minnesota

I have about 1300 rounds (give or take 20) of extra 50BMG I need to get out of my ammo room. Mostly 4:1 Federal tracers but there is a small amount of Hornady AMAX, American Eagle and API as well. All in 50cal cans along with two wooden crates containing 2 100rd cans each.

Located north of Minneapolis but willing to travel a little to meet.

$3,900

One dollar 2024 Tahoe

I’ll say it again… it’s not intelligence!

Now wonder where else this works? Car dealers may fight.

But what about similar manipulations on WalMart or Amazon. Or Bass Pro Shops? Or Home Depot. I’d be trying it like crazy! I mean a Tahoe they notice. How about dozens of scopes or TV’s or appliances? Take them weeks to spot the error.

Just ‘sayin!

SOLD [WTT/WTS] Vortex Razor 3-18 EBR-2C

Looking to trade my MOA Razor 3-18 EBR-2C MOA for the mil version of the same scope or just something similar. Can add cash or take cash + optic.

Album Here

A few small blemishes on the caps as seen in the pics, but the body and glass are tip top.

Will also sell for $SOLD shipped + insured since that will probably be also easier than trading.

Off the shelf, build or custom shop???

Hey guys, I have a question.
Looking to get another rifle probably in the next 6 months. I have built 1 rifle and customized a Rem 700. Both are 6.5 Creedmoor.
The Built Rifle - Big Horn Origin action with a 20” straight jacket armory custom barrel in an AG Composite stock.
The Rem 700 - Rem 700 with OWM barrel cut down to 22”, for looks, fluted bolt with threaded and skeletonized handle in a Magpul Hunter stock.
Other Built Rifle - Big Horn Origin, 24” Ctriterion barrel using barrel nut in a KRG Bravo, this is .308 WIN.

Question here is this.
I am thinking of getting another rifle. Should I build it? Should I just buy an off the shelf rifle like the Bergara B14 HMR Pro? Or just bite the bullet and purchase the rifle from a custom shop like GA Precision? Looking at 300 Win Mag or maybe 7PRC.
Building will be about $2700
Off the rack will be about $1600?
Custom Shop will be about $5500?

I do not have an Off the rack rifle and honestly never have. I keep hearing the Bergaras are excellent and very accurate rifles. Are the Big Horn actions (or any custom action) that much better than th shelf rifles?
I do not do any competitions or hunt. These are strictly for fun. Probably will be doing 2-3 long range precision training classes a year, but that is pretty much it.
