Here’s a better idea… How about banks and States just say “Shall not comply”

That stupid policy (not a law fer fuck’s sake) that stands common sense, and literally thousands of years of financial policy on its head re: punishing people who do the right thing with their finances, pay their debts, and save up for a down payment went into effect today.

And then to add insult to injury, Uncle Sugar takes that money and gives it to people with bad credit, so they can borrow even more money…because that’s worked out so well in the past.

Looks like some states are finally pushing back: https://www.foxbusiness.com/politic...od-credit-borrowers-subsidize-risky-mortgages

But how is this even remotely legal/constitutional? And why aren’t State governments coming right out and telling them to fuck off?

I honestly feel like I’m living in Bizzaro world sometimes…

A T-shirt that got the kids talking

First off yes it is hairy, having a hairy dog this is just an issue. This animal turns food into two things, fur and huge piles of poo.

I wore this shirt last week, and I went to Wendys for some lunch.

1682942713820.png

While there I noticed about 40 kids there, usually I would 180 but they are already eating so I got right up to the register to order.

I think it was a debate team, did not look like the normal FFA kids. And as I got my napkins and stuff I could see them looking at me with interest.

I sit down and I half screw around on my phone while keeping an eye on the kids, looking and talking between themselves. Their phones come out, and I can see them mouthing Who's John Gault. Me I am just sitting there with a giggle on the inside.

Finally one of the teachers comes over after I am finished and putting stuff away and asks where did you get the T-shirt. I told them my wife made it for me. He says it got the kids really talking. Smiled and left.

It was a fun time. Wore it up to town Saturday and the people looking at me with a "who is that" look was just fun.

Hat Recommendations

Summer is almost here, and I’m soliciting ideas on a hat to shoot in. I’m bald as an egg and shave what little genetics has left me. I’m also on an immunosuppressant that makes me sensitive to direct sunlight. I’ve got the sun shirt thing taken care of but a ball cap isn’t cutting it.

So, what have the more experienced folks used that gives good coverage but doesn’t impart target visuals?

PRS cartridge selection

I've had a PRS rig in mind for over a year while I save up(work wasnt going well in 2022). I have bounced around cartridge selection for majority of that time.

Initially I was leaning 6XC until I realized the different chambers, how different brass is optimized for certain chambers and you didnt always know which sizing die was for what chamber dimensions

After that I looked into the 6 GT. It was the hot new thing at the time. I was on the FB group for about a year or more now too. But it seemed like it was a solution for a problem that wasn't asked. It was in between a dasher and a 6x47 lapua but imo didn't offer any benefits over either. Not just that but you're stuck with either hornady brass which im not a fan of, or alpha brass which isnt always available.

Then I looked into 6mm creed because there's still SRP lapua brass floating around, peterson and alpha make brass, everyone makes brass. I don't need factory ammo unless SHTF but that's another story. Downside is i saw ES/SD go up with reduced charges to get slower voleocities to improve barrel life and be able to spot trace/misses easier and if you went near max charge, barrel life goes way down.

Finally I considered 6x47 lapua after talking to a few local shooters. I heard in the past that it was finnicky to load for but a few smiths told me it was likely to improper chamber dimensions from improper reamer design when compared to the 6.5x47. I know you can still get 6.5x47 lapua brass from various manufacturers like lapua, peterson, and alpha, but peterson also makes dedicated 6x47 brass which im a fan of.

I know many will say go dasher, but i would rather not have to fire or hydroform brass. i know alpha has dasher brass but like i said above, it's not always in stock. Just wanted other perspectives on cartridge selection.

On Barrel Cleaning - back to the old school stuff

Some time back I mentioned that after trying all these new fangled barrel cleaning products I concluded they didn't work very well at all. You can go back and look at that post but I'm having a hell of a time finding it myself. I'll keep looking for it and post it here when I find it.

So, I went back to the old stuff, and my old process. Guess what? That old stuff works, and a lot better than the new stuff based on my borescope.

I went back to brass brushes, and Hoppe's #9. That's right. They starting making that stuff in 1903, I think...

Now I have a picture to show you. Last time I went to the range I shot 60 rounds of 6mm centerfire. I had run out of the Hoppe's #9 so I ordered some and had to wait 6-days to get it. So the gun sat dirty for a week.

I do have the luxury of having a vise with silicone barrel jaws so I can leave the rifle in there as long as I want. That said, the process only takes an overnight - 12 hours. The image below is ALL the patches I used. I capture them just by pulling back on the rod and they fall on one of them plastic drawer things that I also use for storage.

The cleaning regimen:

1) Run a couple of patches to remove all the loose carbon stuff.
2) Next I run a #9 soaked bronze benchrest brush - 15 strokes (30 passes through the barrel) have a drink while that sits for an hour. Then, run patches soaked in #9 until reasonably clean.
3) Repeat #2.
4) Let that soak overnight.
5) Next morning I run #2 again.
6) An hour later I do #2 again until wet clean. By this time, all the stuff on the patches is all copper (blue/green).
7) Then I run dry patches until they come out dry.

Done.

When you look at the image all the carbon gets taken out first (it's all below the rest of the patches). Then the last wet patches are all copper and finally the dry patches on top perfectly clean.

No more different chemicals, No more expensive cleaning crap that doesn't work. The old stuff still works the best. It's cheaper and it's only one bottle.

Gucci Chassis

So I'm getting the aero chassis because I wanted an affordable option while I save up more money and because I was curious of the fit and finish.

That being said, obviously many of us have the grass is greener on the other side mentality and we look at possible upgrades in the future. What's your favorite higher end or more obscure chassis you'd want to upgrade to?

I've been eyeballing 3 recently:

JP Enterprises APAC. Many people say the weight system is excellent, the folder lockup is also excellent and it looks futuristic and well built
SPUHR SICS: I mean come on, it's Spuhr. You know it's quality. That thing is artwork, though I have heard of some issues with softer metal
Vision competition chassis: imo this is the most aesthetic chassis I've seen especially with the full length enclosed comp forend

What are ya'lls favorites?
