Geraldo Rivera

Douche bag Heraldo Rivera yes Mr Al Capones vault went on Hannity with a flint lock musket to show what gun was used in the time the 2nd Amendment was crafted. He thinks this is proof that the Founders never intended for the citizens to possess anything else but a musket. I wonder if he thinks free speech only applies to the printed press since that what was available at the time of the 1st Amendment.

It was noticed that the ATF has added to their FAQ section on their eforms website this:

No. Only Responsible Person(s) listed on the approved registration may have physical or constructive possession of the NFA item.

Rifle Scopes Is there a place for scopes with lower magnification ranges in today's market?

In a market where companies are pushing the edge of what magnification ranges we're able to useably accomplish, they aren't doing so without sacrifice. Every popular company seems to be experimenting with 10X and 8X erectors, thus making sacrifices at one or both ends of that range.

By this point our technology has close to mastered 3X and even 4X erectors [and especially fixed power optics]. It's cheaper and easier than ever to create a 3-9 scope or 4-12 scope with excellent eye box, FOV, DOF, etc,..

So why is nobody making a bombshell lower "range" variable optic today with great specs and features for less than your current 10X and 8X wonder scopes? Surely there's a market out there for people who value comfortable usability over extreme mag ranges.

[Edit/added:]
Just about the only scopes that are still using shorter erector range technology seem to be doing so because they're made in cheap Chinese OEMs that can't do more at that price point.

A notable exception which I'm aware of is the Swaro Z3 line which gives excellent glass, resolution, eye box, etc,.. for the sub-$1k price point. It's only lacking in reticle options and durable construction, which can both be improved while keeping the benefits of the short erector.

Is it safe to clean nitrided barrels with JB Bore Paste?

I finally got out my bore scope for one of my semi autos with a Criterion nitrided barrel after some accuracy degradation, and holy cow is this thing stuffed full of carbon (100% suppressed shooting). I clean all my stainless barrel with JB to get hard carbon out but am hesitant for nitride. I know nitride is hard as hell but something about scraping it with an abrasive gave me pause. Saw some anecdotes here and there about rubbing the nitride coating off down to the bare metal, but as I understand it nitride is a hardening treatment, not a coating.

Unsure. Just want to check before I go do anything stupid.

Maggie’s Thanks to the Maker, we are being cared for

The new caretakers of Americans are taking care of us, protecting us from all those horrible things/foods that are going to destroy our bodies and destroy Mother Earth. What would/could we do without these wonderful people looking out for our welfare and taking care of us, assuring our health and well being.

The latest list of the latest things which are destroying us and destroy our planet, that are on the ban list.

Gas stoves
Fresh Brewed Coffee
Pickup Trucks
Bringing cake to work (as dangerous or possibly even more dangerous than second hand smoke)

Be safe my friends, and remember, taking one sip of freshly brewed coffee, climbing into the cab of an evil pickup truck, eating the tiniest nibble of carrot cake or even having a gas stove in your home means Instant Death, to both you and the planet,

Please, Please, keep our oceans from boiling. Stop gigantic firestorms from consuming our continents. Do your part, do not sneak around our loving caretakers and partake or use any of these very, very, VERY dangerous things.

If you believe any of the shit I wrote in this post, might I also interest you in a bridge I have for sale in London England. Good price on the bridge.

SOLD HK SP5

I have an HK SP5 I got a year ago. It was bought as a pistol with the end cap then I sbr'd it and got my tax stamp. I recently turned it back into a pistol and wrote in to the NFA to get it removed off the registry so its now back to a title 1 pistol. Comes with all the factory stuff from HK including the case, sling, 4 HK German mags and 1 US 40 round mag. Pistol has seen about 300 rounds in total and still in excellent condition. They typically go for 3k but since it has my trust engraving I'm listing it for $2400 shipped to your FFL

Help Me Improve. How to Get More Precise?

I want to add some precision to my reloading, and I read the sticky, watched a lot of YouTube videos, etc, but I wanted to get some opinions on equipment and techniques here. I’m not brand new to reloading, but there’s a lot I don’t know and I’m trying to improve.

A good load for me right now is around 0.6 MOA shot at 100 yds (5 round group). I don’t compete, I just hunt and shoot for fun, but I think I have a couple of rifles that could shoot under that, and I’d like to see if my groups are being limited by my reloads or by the rifle. Plus, I do want to eventually build out a precision rifle, and it’d be good to have a solid foundation in the reloading department already.

Current equipment is very basic stuff. A Rock Chucker IV, standard die sets from RCBS and Hornady, Lyman hand-crank trimmer, RCBS hand priming tool, RCBS Chargemaster Lite. I’m using a Hornady bullet comparator to get CBTO lengths.

I’ve been using segregated brass of various common makes, and I think probably buying some Lapua or other high quality brass would be step 1.

What I don’t know about is what is the best equipment and technique to resize consistently, with a high degree of fidelity to the chamber dimensions, while having consistent neck tension and concentricity. Bushing dies? Standard dies with the expander ball removed, followed up with a mandrel die? Do micrometer sizing dies make consistent shoulder bump easier? Obviously I’d say sizing is the area where I have the most questions.

Also, is all of that a waste of time if I don’t already own an annealer? Should that be my 1st purchase? I don’t mind throwing something like Remington brass away once it’s toast, so I’ve never bothered annealing. Obviously Lapua/Alpha/Petersen would be brass I’d like to get more loadings out of.

For seating, I think I’d like to go to a micrometer die and stay on the single stage press.

Any suggestions on equipment, brands, techniques, books, videos, etc? Trying to learn but there’s a lot of noise mixed in with the good info.

TIA.
