Dash cam recommendations?

I've enjoyed watching "Dashcam Lessons" on Youtube. Didn't realize how many people have them until I started paying attention. My friend has had his in his car for 4 years and I never once noticed. Go me.

People are nuts and apparently when the other person lies to the insurance, it's "he said/he said" unless the evidence is compelling.

I lost an insurance argument when a guy backed up onto the hood of my car while it was parked on the street. He claimed that I drove under his car while HE was parked. My insurance did not cover damage nor did his.

Anyone have specific model or general advice on dash cams? Friend above told me to get the biggest sensor.

The one that is highly rated on multiple sites is the 622GW, but it has SO MANY complaints on Amazon regarding it freezing up and the company not honoring warranty. So it may have the best tested performance, but...

Looking for something reliable and will capture license plate (good resolution). I don't want to get a camera to catch the "action" but miss out on the plate or the driver's face.

Arnold Jewell (Jewell Triggers) has passed

Arnold Jewell was the designer and producer of the renown Jewell trigger for the Remington 700 and 40X bolt action rifles, made famous in world benchrest and precision rifle competition.

From legendary benchrest shooter and gunsmith "Speedy" Gonzalez:

"Arnold Jewell passed away last Friday of kidney failure. We know him for his constant barrage of jokes at every match he attended, he will now keep our Lord in stitches for all eternity. His trigger revolutionized the sport of benchrest and introduced the precision of the sport to riflemen and women around the world. Though many were not benchrest shooters they all had an interest in the man and sport that was now carried with pride in every one of his or her rifles.

We are diminished!

That's all, Keep'em small,
Speedy"

Arnold W. Jewell, October 6, 2022

"We are sad to announce the passing of Arnold W. Jewell, 85, of New Braunfels, Texas on September 30, 2022. Born on May 16, 1937 in Abilene, Texas, Arnold was the son of Vernon C. Jewell and Alma Galle Jewell.

Arnold is survived by his children, Brian C. Jewell of Austin, TX; and Lisa Woodstock of Nevada; grandsons, Wyatt W. Jewell of Austin, and Dustin Woodstock of Nevada.

In his 85 years, Arnold enjoyed a multifaceted life. A Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was an aeronautic mechanic from which he grew his love of flying. In 1960, upon receiving his college degree, he worked for Braniff Airlines as an airline mechanic. He then got his pilot’s license and later became a corporate pilot. In 1961, Arnold met and wed his wife of 45 years, Jeanie Frances Jewell, together having two children. Once retired from being a corporate pilot, he then pursued his love of competitive shooting sports. Arnold then invented “The Jewell Competition Trigger” along with seven other patents. He retired from his machine shop in 1999, getting to go all over the country with his countless buddies enjoying great competition and camaraderie with all his friends. He was known to his buddies as A.J. I was lucky enough to call him Dad.

Rest in Peace Dad,

Your loving family."

Selling a Rifle on SH - Questions on shipping and Payment

Hi Guys, I wasn't sure where to post this but please feel free to move this if there is a better place. Just curious I have a rifle I am considering selling and in the past I have never had an issue (not here on other boards) selling and shipping to an FFL through UPS or Fed X- Now I see neither one permits an individual to ship directly to an FFL- I do see USPS still says they will allow rifles to be shipped to a registered FFL holder. Has anyone had any recent problems shipping through USPS? I always include my DL and copy of the FFL where it is being shipped to in the Box. I did check and my FFL is willing to ship to another FFL for $150.00 + shipping, I would rather not do this.

Also I have never had a problem using PP FF (being discreate) but last time I tried to sell something I had several members say it is illegal to use PP for any firearms or related items. I guess the other alternative is asking for a check and waiting for it to clear? then shipping- but that is a pain for both parties. Just curious what other options?

SOLD Factory Tikka T3x Varmint .223

SOLD

What: Unfired Tikka T3x Varmint chambered in .223 Rem, 1:8 twist, 23.7” factory barrel, blued finish. Barrel has a few marks from the vise, nothing terrible and was threaded 5/8x24 TPI by Class III Machining. A muzzle brake was attached, but is not included. You get: Factory stock and bottom “metal”, factory trigger, factory bolt, factory action, factory barrel, and Area 419 20 MOA picatinny rail. This has been dry fired and left in the safe, I had plans but I’d like to move into a Bighorn TL3 short action instead. A magazine is not included.

Shipping: Final sale price + $40. The $40 doesn’t cover shipping something this unwieldy, but I’ll take the hit for the rest. Presently shipping is kind of tricky. I’m willing to try UPS, but with the understanding that it’s likely there won’t be an insurance payout if anything happens. USPS is still legal for individuals shipping long rifles, so that will ship insured. Be sure your FFL accepts from individuals; if your FFL doesn't it’s $40 to put it on my local FFL’s books for an outbound transfer. If you don’t want or will just be replacing the factory stock I ask you to tell me since removing it will save us both on shipping just the barreled action.

Price: $925 plus aforementioned shipping. Payment via very discreet electronic methods (Zelle, CashApp, etc.). Trades include Bighorn TL3 short action, DLC coated - cash on my end or can add extras.

Pictures forthcoming. Extras available, just ask: Anarchy swept bolt handle, Sterk bolt shroud, KRG Midas two stage trigger, Vision Gen2 forend for KRG chassis/Bravo.

Accessories Remington 700 leftover’s

Have the remains of a Remington 700 30/06 I robbed the action out of .. stainless barrel, stock, bottom metal & mag.. $200 plus shipping for the lot ..

Duty = deputy sheriff. Which one do you like and why? Holster is a Safariland ALS.

On a question not related to the poll, have you preferred to mill an existing slide specifically for your RDS or to purchase one already milled and use an adapter plate? Who do you recommend in either case?

Thanks in advance and God bless America

FBI: More People Beaten to Death with Fists, Feet, than Killed with Rifles

The FBI’s Uniform Crime Report (UCR) was just released and shows that more people were beaten to death with fists and feet in 2021 than were killed with rifles.
According to the UCR, 447 people were killed with rifles, while 461 people were killed with “personal weapons” such as hands, fists, feet, etc.
Approximately a year ago Breitbart News reported the FBI’s previous UCR numbers, which showed 454 people were killed with rifles in 2020 while 657 were killed with “personal weapons,” which are defined as “hands, fists, feet, etc.”
Other UCR figures show a similar outcome for 2019, when 375 people were killed with rifles but 639 were killed with “hands, fists, feet, etc.”
On Monday Breitbart New pointed out the UCR report covering 2021 also shows that more people were stabbed or hacked to death than were killed with rifles.
The UCR shows that 447 people were killed with rifles in 2021, while 1,035 people were killed “with knives or cutting instruments.”

A new Slate Wiper to worry about!

Seems a few years ago one came by and stripped a layer off out Atmosphere! Nice!

So we have... Bleed out viruses, comets, meteors and astroids, Nuclear War, Supervolcano and now... Magnetars!

Woo Hoo! Definitely will make TV worth watching. Except that with our atmosphere stripped away instantly at 186,000 miles per second... there won't be any more TV's.

Sleep well and, hey, buy that new Optic. Noone's getting out of here alive!

FFLs Beware

Beware of https://taurusgunbrokers.com/ this is a scam site. Will take payment and then stop all messaging and never return emails.

I was searching for a Taurus 942 for a customer and was directed to this site.

Shame on me, I felt it was too good to be true, however I took a change and put the order through.

Once I made payment, they responded and asked for FFL information. After I sent FFL, all emails stopped. I now know I was scammed and hopefully can pass on the info so no one else falls victim to this site.

Supertrickler in hand for testing with Elfster’s Rifles and Reloading

The supertrickler is in hand for testing. FYI, the timer on the display doesn't include the fact it zeros the pan EVERYTIME you put the pan down for a charge (and yes you can shut it off and on but IMO is a good thing). The screen will show which process its doing from ZERO, to bulk drop, to fine drop, to pulse drop at the end for single specs of powder in which each step is fully customizable IF you are not using the AI (artificial intelligence) feature. I'll keep you all updated with a review once I know the system back and forth. Admittedly, the numerous amount of customizable settings are overwhelming at first yet welcomed once you get an idea of what they all do. I'll keep you all updated with a review once I fully know the system 100%. It's crazy fast for sure.

Recommendations for a Hard Case for Shipping a Barreled Action?

I need to ship a barreled action in for repairs and I was wondering what the best type of hard case would be to use for sending it? I've got a Pelican case that I use for my normal range use but I think that's a bit heavy and bit too big for just the barreled action (20" barrel) once I get it out of the chassis and remove the scope.

Is the foam in a regular Plano single rifle case good enough as long as I've got the barreled action and bolt wrapped in bubble wrap?

I'm probably overthinking this but would appreciate any suggestions
