FOIA Request Uncovers FBI Effort to Get Americans to Forfeit 2nd Amendment Rights

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by Gun Owners of America (GOA) secured release of information surrounding a form which was used by the FBI in an effort to secure forfeiture of Second Amendment rights.

Ammoland.com warned of the FBI effort in 2019, after GOA discovered the “NICS Indices Self-Submission Form” in December 2019.

The form gave Americans the opportunity to “voluntarily” give up their Second Amendment rights, allowing no means by which the forfeited rights could be resecured.

GOA filed a FOIA suit for information related to the form and its use by the FBI.

On September 6, 2022, the Daily Caller reported that GOA’s FOIA request revealed that the FBI actually took the form to the homes of some Americans, presenting those Americans with the option of giving up their Second Amendment rights:

The forms were presented by the FBI to people at their homes and in other undisclosed locations, according to bureau documents unearthed through the Freedom of Information Act by the firearm rights group GOA…At least 15 people between 2016 and 2019 signed the secret forms, which ask signatories to declare themselves as either a “danger” to themselves or others or lacking “mental capacity adequately to contract or manage” their lives.
On September 7, 2022, Breitbart News spoke with GOA VP Erich Pratt about the FBI effort and he said:

This self-reporting form became a tool for the FBI to pressure law-abiding Americans, who have committed no crimes, to voluntarily forfeit their Second Amendment rights. The agency would put the squeeze on people to surrender their rights, based simply on hearsay evidence. And then, just like Red Flag laws, a gun owner could lose their gun rights without ever appearing before a judge or jury.
Congress must investigate to ensure that this system and any forms tied to it have been destroyed, and most importantly, the officials responsible must be held to account for their actions which have betrayed the trust of the American people.
Pratt also noted, “This is just the latest example of the FBI going rogue and abusing their authority to the detriment of Americans’ Constitutionally guaranteed rights. Given the Bureau’s unwillingness to answer questions or cooperate with GOA’s investigation, coupled with a total lack of Congressional oversight, this system is likely to have been misused — and the FBI knows it.”

‘Aquaman’ Star Jason Momoa Shaves Head for the Environment: ‘Tired of Using Plastic Bottles’

Actor Jason Momoa once again shaved a part of himself in the name of helping the environment, namely, his head.

Momoa has long been associated with having a lion’s mane of long hair, but the actor intentionally shed that image in an Instagram video on Monday to raise awareness about the use of plastics.

“Here’s to new beginnings,” he said in the post. “Be better at protecting our land and oceans. We need to cut single-use plastics out of our lives and out of our seas. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils all of it.”

In the video, Momoa expressed frustration over seeing plastics in the ocean, particularly, near his home in Hawaii.

“Aww man, I’ve never even felt the wind right there,” he said while touching the side of his now shaved head.

“I’m tired of using plastic bottles, we gotta stop,” he added. “Plastic forks, all that shit goes into our land, goes into our ocean. I’m here in Hawaii right now, and just seeing things in our ocean, it’s just so sad.”

Calling plastic bottles “ridiculous,” Momoa asked his followers to stop with the single-use plastics.

ZEISS presents its next series of first focal plane riflescopes with impressive total elevation travel and advanced optics.

ZEISS announces the release of its all-new first focal plane riflescope – the ZEISS LRP S3. The new riflescope for long-range precision shooting and hunting includes impressive total elevation travel, advanced optics, daytime visible illuminated reticle, ballistic stop, and an external locking windage turret. The product family consist of two models: ZEISS LRP S3 425-50 and 636-56. Both are available in either milliradian (MRAD) or minute-of-angle (MOA) configurations. “With the LRP S3 we have expanded our successful long-range precision scope portfolio to provide more options for highly reliable and precise optics that are ready for competition,” stated Kyle Brown, Director of Marketing and Products for ZEISS Consumer Products USA.

Impressive total elevation travel – for precise bullet placement on the most distant targets

“In long-range rifle competitions, shooters will experience challenging conditions like switching winds, poor and harsh lightning or the stress of time”, explained Brown, who is an experienced long-range precision shooter himself. “You may not be able to control these conditions, but you can certainly adjust for them with your choice of a riflescope.” With up to 160 MOA or 46.5 MRAD of total elevation travel for the 425-50 model and 110 MOA or 32 MRAD for the 636-56 model, the LRP S3 ensures the bullet impact even on the most distant targets. The riflescopes utilize ZEISS’ proven external elevation turret with enhanced engraving for precise shot placement. Together with the ballistic stop, which provides an absolute and true return to zero, and the external locking windage turret, the ZEISS LRP S3 offers the shooter easy access for immediate wind correction and a locking feature to secure the setting.

Advanced Optics – for reliable target identification

The LRP S3 first focal plane riflescope from ZEISS is equipped with advanced optics, allowing the shooter to quickly locate and define the targets. The optical performance is assured via the use of extra-low dispersion (ED) lens elements and ZEISS’ proprietary T* multi-layer lens coating for optimum color fidelity, image brightness and edge-to-edge sharpness within the entire field-of-view. Additionally, the new riflescopes deliver 90% light transmission for a noticeably brighter image. ZEISS’ protective LotuTec lens coating, for anti-fogging and to repel dust, dirt, or fingerprints, complete the advanced optical design of the

Daylight visible illuminated reticles – for intuitive aiming

The already proven first focal plane reticles ZF-MOAi and ZF-MRi represent MOA and MRAD smarter reticle designs. “Our powerful daylight visible illuminated reticles were designed with professional input from active competitors and instructors”, reported Brown. “Each incorporate distinct, clean, and easy-to- understand reference marks along the main horizontal and vertical lines of the reticle”. Both offer fine line reticle subtensions and floating center dots to serve the demands of precision shooters and long-range hunters alike. The user can select red or green illumination and the preferred setting from five intensity levels. Only the center section of the reticle is illuminated for the most precise point of aim even when viewing against challenging targets or in harsher lighting conditions.

Robust and compact – for usage in rough terrain

With its 34 mm aluminum main tube mono-bloc housing, shock tested up to 1,500g-force, waterproofness up to 400 mbar, the LRP S3 is not only compact but also very robust. It is engineered for extreme usage in rough terrain. “The LRP S3 meets all requirements not only for long-range competitions but also for particularly demanding hunting situations over long distances”, Brown summed up.

Updates on RemArms, LLC?

I thought they were picking up where Remington Arms left off. But seems like stuff just isn't available. Did I miss something?

I talked a friend into a 700 build before Remington Arms went bankrupt. Got some parts and then they went bankrupt. Now trying to find a standard action has become impossible without overpaying. Even trying to find a factory rifle for the action. Seems really rare. Is this something that's still in progress?

Ruger SFAR small frame 308, 6.8 pounds

Ruger released a new small frame (POF competitor) 308 for under $1300 with either a 16 or 20" barrel. Guessing the bolts are inconel or a slight variation thereof. Looks interesting at that price point and will be interested in seeing real world reviews. Being a POF Revolution DI owner there are few items on the Ruger I don't like as much but for the price, might be a great option if accuracy and QC are decent.

Gunsmithing Updated UPS rules for firearms

The latest shitshow has arrived:

The tl;dr summary appears to be as follows:

- firearms and firearm parts can only be sent by licensed entities

- firearms can only be sent to licensed entities

- "firearms" - per the latest definition - must have serial numbers

- shippers will be required to open and maintain a dedicated account for firearms and another for firearm parts and then another for non-firearm articles (have fun trying to keep that straight, and presumably we'll kiss goodbye any discounts we may have had on our primary account)

- shipments will need to be accompanied by hardcopy and electronic manifests

- shipments will need to be ASR and DDO, and can only be tendered to a driver at one's assigned daily pickup location (no drop-off allowed at hubs, stores, or to random drivers)

I've seen some scattered discussion around the Hide and other sites, but since the dealers and gunsmiths often hang out in this section I felt this topic deserved its own thread.

For those who are unlicensed, you now basically have only the post office for shipping firearms, and you're not allowed to ship handguns via USPS without an FFL. This will certainly impede warranty work, as well as other completely legal interstate transfer of firearms from non-licensed individuals to licensees.

I'm sure that the hardcore noncompliance types will claim that they will openly ignore the rules, and that will be fun and games until a $5000 rifle goes missing and the claim is denied.
