Advice on best way to set this up please

I have experience with AR’s/M4’s from 20 years on active duty, but I’m not an “operator” or a sniper. However, I’ve always been interested in long range shooting and hunting. I shot my first deer with a Savage .308 last year at 38 years old, so I’m behind most of you in knowledge.

I recently got a Bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 creed. I have a Vortex 5-25 X 56 EBR-7C MRAD I’d like to put on it. I believe the rings I need are 34mm. I’m a little confused about the best way to mount it. Can someone recommend the parts I’d need? I believe it uses Remington 700 compatible parts. Also, on the break in, is it true that I need to clean the bore after each shot for the first 20 rounds or so? I’m pretty much completely new to bolt action rifles and these kinds of scopes. I’d appreciate any advice you guys can offer. Ultimately I’d like to be able to shoot pigs at around 500 yards or less, and at the range I’d like to work up to 1k.

Best Crossover PRS/Hunting Scope?

So I’m taking a step back from shooting centerfire matches but will be putting together a hunting rifle that I could shoot a one day match here and there with.

Would like to keep the scope under 2k so that cuts out Zco, TT, Khales, Etc.

Would like to be 35 Oz or less, FFP, MRAD, and Illuminated.

So far the only scopes I’ve found that I’m really intrigued by are the Athlon Cronus BTR Gen 2 4.5-29 and the NF NX8 4-32. The NF is honestly what I want but I hear horror stories about the eye relief and parallax.

Any other ideas??

Range report, Houston we have a problem.

I went out to shoot my FrankenAR that was actually put together with a bunch of feedback from this forum. A few lanes down we heard an obvious problem. A guy bought some kind of Romanian AK47 and put a can on it and when he fired there was a baffle strike, so he did what anyone would and pulled the trigger a second time which turned the can into a fragmentation device. There was a little blood from his shooting buddy that was struck. The suppressor is obviously screwed, the barrel is ruined as well.

I googled it when I got home and did not realize that AKs were not always concentric and that if you plan on shooting one suppressed it is a good idea to have it checked by a gunsmith.

Thinking about buying a suppressor...have questions

Well fellas I've always wanted a Daniel Defense so I took the plunge and purchased the M4A1 Mil Spec rifle. This is a beautiful weapon and I want it to be my premier rifle. I put a Sig Romeo 4T on it and I also have an Aimpoint Pro. Now I'm thinking about a suppressor, but have never looked into these as I haven't considered it in the past. I assume the first step is applying for a tax stamp? Is the Daniel Defense DD Wave a good suppressor? The reviews seem to think so. Thanks for any guidance on this as I'm a total newb to these.

Crafty nerds, I need you

I have a chess set that I need to protect. My grandmother made this for me 30 years ago(yikes, I’m getting old) and I’ve recently dug it out and started teaching my oldest son. I need to find something to coat the pieces that is clear, so I can still see the details of the pieces, and that will protect the paint from chips. I’ll attach a few pics to show everyone what I’m working with. Any and all ideas will be entertained.

The pieces and board are hollow so I’ll probably fill them with some sort of epoxy or urethane to protect them a bit more and add a bit of weight to them as well

Rifle Scopes Gen 3 Razor vs XTR Pro (Regular Joe, Non biased review).....No Sponsors here.

Just got an XTR Pro. See my other thread comparing it to a regular XTR3 5.5-30x56.

Had to compare it to my Razor Gen 3.

Lots of mirage this afternoon. 77 degrees. Compared for 45 minutes on a tripod side x side. Pictures are not going to do either scope justice, but I'll ad some anyway so you can atleast see the reticle sizes for comparison on different powers.

Quick rundown as far as pros and cons of each scope (for my tastes)

Vortex Razor G3 6-36
Pros.........
side parallax is more forgiving than the Pro.
Awesome Glass (equal to the Pro on all powers....tested mostly 15x,20x,25,30x)

Cons......
Don't love the locking turrets.
Not a huge fan of the reticle

Burris XTR Pro
Pros........
better eyebox than the razor
Awesome glass, on par with Razor G3 on all powers tested 15,20,25,30x (Surprised me, as I thought the Razor would be better)
Elevation Turret is awesome.
SCR 1/4 Mil reticle is perfect for me

Cons......
side parallax is finicky (critical for best picture)
Windage Turret SUCKS
Zoom and parallax on my example are a little gritty compared to the smoothness of the Razor

Here are some pics..........
(Glass Quality Sucks in the pics, but you will get an Idea of the reticle comparisons.)

Any thoughts or expectations/expierence with ESG and your banking/work?

From another Oil and Gas service provider.

I can’t fathom to think of the monsters that hide in the closet with this commie propaganda.

Your thoughts?

Why ESG Topics are Trending in the Oil & Gas Industry

ESG topics are buzzing among oil and gas professionals around the world. With the rise in sustainability and environmental concerns in the energy industry and growing conversations around current and future ESG standards, it is vital that companies are proactive rather than reactive. Implementing SCADA systems has many benefits that provide the proactive approach needed to maintain ESG standards. First, it is important to understand the basis of ESG and how these standards apply to the oil and gas industry.

The Meaning of ESG in the Oil & Gas Industry

ESG is an acronym that stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. ESG standards provide a framework for judging the sustainability and ethicality of an investment. Companies that ignore ESG issues risk being perceived as less desirable investments. Further, regulation of ESG standards is increasing, and proactive ESG standards implementation reduces later compliance burdens.

ESG is especially relevant to oil and gas companies because of the growing pressure on our industry to protect the environment. Below are possible concerns and questions that pertain to the oil and gas industry when it comes to ESG standards.

Environmental - This is the ESG area most impactful to operators. Immediate examples are flaring of natural gas and spills. Fugitive gases at plants and carbon emissions from transportation and compression equipment are other examples.

Social - Employee safety is the most meaningful of these concerns. This area also encompasses human rights and community relationships.

Governance – This encompasses concerns regarding management structure. How are processes and procedures being managed? Are employees receiving adequate support to fulfill their role?

Why ESG is Important to Oil & Gas Companies

The oil and gas industry is inextricably linked to each of the individual elements represented in ESG. The importance of environmental concerns to the industry is obvious. The carbon emissions and energy production of each company may run afoul of regulators and impact how investors view a company. At the same time, communities have a heightened consciousness around social concerns like worker safety and it’s important to act proactively in these areas. Corporate governance is now tasked with developing strategic approaches to each of those concerns, along with an ethical approach to the employee and management structure.

Rather than viewing ESG as an obstacle, many oil and gas companies are beginning to view environmental and social considerations as an opportunity to build value and increase the efficiency of their operations. Evidence indicates that companies that consider and invest in ESG concerns experience a positive return. One specific method of investing in ESG is implementing modern SCADA systems for oil and gas companies.

Wants vs Needs

I was just thinking * that "I need this", not important what it was, when a following thought hit me..."No you dont need it, you want it.".

So I pondered it and,

When you stop to think about, all we really need to live is air, food, water, and a reasonably tolerant climate. Pretty much everything else is something we want., things we have been indoctrinated to believe we 'need'. But that, as the Buddah says, is 'desire' and gets us into trouble. Or a s Christ might have put it, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all else will be added." so we shouldnt really 'want' but trust that our 'needs' will be met. Thats not to say we shouldnt do our assigned work, but just a thought to ponder.

Fight me.

Planet Fitness: if every member came every day, how much would they have to raise their price?

Planet fitness makes it's money on members that don't show up regularly, or show up at all.

If you go every single day, it's costing you 33 cents to access an entire gym of pretty nice equipment for as long as you want. Take a shower there to save the utilities at home, get the free pizza, bagels, and coffee (basically two meals, probably worth $6). It's a fucking deal.

If every member actually went daily, how much, if at all, would Planet Fitness have to raise their price?

People at gas stations, really?

The bride and I have been doing some traveling lately, nothing serious or long, and along pretty much the same interstate which means we gas up in the same 2 or 3 places coming and going. Tell me why people do these things at a gas station/convenience/fast food store on the interstate. In our area, these places are busy majority of the time during the spring and summer when people travel most. It makes no sense aside from pure laziness.

People pull up to the gas pumps, pump their gas, clean their windshield, return the nozzle to the pump and then go inside and shop, and go to the restroom. All the while their vehicle is blocking the pump so no one else can get gas. All they would have to do at this particular station is pull ahead 20 feet into a storefront parking place which is nearly always open but NO that would be too easy. If you pull up behind one of these people you expect them to fill up and pull out but noooo, they have to use the #6 pump for a personal parking spot under the canopy.

Then there are those who pull up, get the pump going and head into the store. The pump shuts off with the familiar "click" before they even hit the front door of the store and they are nowhere to be found for quite some time. I guess they think it is better than the first example since the nozzle is still in the gas filler of the car even though it has long been shut off. Eventually, they return and act like they can't believe the car is full already. Duh

We have had a Subaru for 5 years now and it took a while to get accustomed to the gas filler being on the right side. OK, I get that but why can't people figure out which side to have next to the pump to fill it up. I have watched people pull in with the left side to the pump only to find the gas filler on the right just to spin around the pump and you guessed it, the fill is still on the wrong side.

Lastly, at times there isn't an abundance of room for vehicles between two pumps, and for some reason, people want to test how far the pump hose can reach by keeping a 10-foot distance from the pump. So I pull in and barely have enough room to let my wife out on the pump side and I am holding my door and squeezing out to keep my door from hitting his car.

OK, I am done. Surely I am not the only person who sees this happen?

Not sure what side is going to take this as a win....

How was the Remington quality circa 2017-2018?

Someone is offering me a decent deal on an unfired SPS tactical with 16.5 in barrel they bought in 2018. I have an H-S precision stock from a 700P collecting dust on the shelf. I figure I'd toss XMP trigger, replace it with an aftermarket trigger put it in the H-S precision stock. I read horror stories about Remington quality. But then, I head horror stories about Remington quality in 2012, when I got my 700P. And I have been pretty happy with that rifle for the last decade. Was Remington quality really that bad? What should I look for, when checking it out?

WTF is wrong with the USN?

Just seeing a story on Fox news about some USN forces (USNS Choctaw County and USS Sirocco) being chased and passing within 50 yards or so by Iranian gun boats in a threatening manner while transiting the Straits of Hormuz and supposedly our guys only fired some warning flares. Why the fuck are we not lighting these M'fos up with at least small/medium arms. I guess it's the new "gender trained navy".
Fucking pussies. If I were the skipper I'd say fire away and my pension/admiral's mast be damned.
Somebody needs to put all these fuckers in their place.
Hey @German, you got that navy going yet? I bet there are a bunch of us old fucks with not much to lose that would sign up. I've been running boats since I was a kid and still know how to dead reckoning navigate with a sextant and a compass.
