Hellfire match threading

I just received my new Area 419 hellfire match brake for installing on a factory R700 .308. My concern is with the couple threads of the adapter being left exposed after installation. Is this common? I know this issue was brought up in a different post from a couple months ago but there was no resolution mentioned. If any of you guys are operating a HM please let me know your experience.

EDIT: I removed a comment about the installation process because it came across as a product QC issue, when in fact it was my boneheaded fault, not an issue with the brake.

RUMOR? - Hodgdon is shutting down production until January

I heard a rumor hodgdon is shutting down production until January due to a lack of raw material. Can anybody confirm this?
Misinformation.

Scott satterlee

So I have been tooling around with the Scott Satterlee load development method with a few different rifles. I have noticed while working up to my maximum load I have had a few loads shoot lower ft per sec. than the previous load or even the previous two loads. It seems to be close to a plateau on two or thee loads. Watching Scott on YouTube he mentioned that seeing this always sparks his interest but didn’t get into detail. Is this normal when your close to a OCW. I know some people people say this type of development is BS but I willing to give it a shot to find out what actually works for me. Using a LabRadar and working up in .3 of a gr.
Thanks in advance.

Ear Pro Wwwwwuuuuuuuusssssshhhhhh

I use the Peltor Sport Tac 500 ear pro and 9/10 they work like a champ, but once in a while I have to contend with heavier than usual wind (heavy for S. Fl so like 10-15mph). As today, it was blowing such that I got that wuuussshhh sound in my mic, anybody know of a way to tame that down a little so I can hear impacts. At 700 it was fine, but > k it wasn't happening.

Firearms Sold - Knights Armament SR25s- Pre ban

Sold - I was able to secure a couple of these that where originally sent to a local department. These are Vero Beach marked units, 24" match rifles. They are unfired other than factory test. come with case, and all paperwork and test target. They are in great shape and look like they sat in the cases. no wear on the buffer, bolt or triggers. One rifle has and original quad rail and sights, not installed but the that where ordered shortly after purchase, that would make a great MK11 clone with a bbl chop. More pictures and info on request.
Sold

Gunsmithing Dual purpose Camo pattern for browns and snow or not?

The areas I predator hunt primarily include sagebrush, bitterbrush, scattered timber, and bunchgrass and weeds. It's mostly...brownish now but will add white snow at some point.

I'm getting ready to paint a Krg Bravo stock, and am considering adding some white in, with the gray/brown-tan/ OD green (black stock) . Too many colors ? Also waffling on a sponge camo job versus cutting stencils out of painters tape. I have lotsa time so either works.

Thoughts?

Night Vision Thermal Rifle Optic Recommendation

As many are aware, we are very close to making the first shipment of rifles to customers.

As this starts to happen, we'll have some more time available where we can start putting together demos and such of our system/s in action. With the rising popularity of thermal/night hunting, we definitely want to be in that space. There's an overabundance of hogs and coyotes in the area needing some attention.

So, here's a general list of preferences, and we would love to hear your recommendations:

- Excellent video quality. Be it internal or an external dvr needed, doesn't matter much. Just needs to be great for video
- The most range possible. We have the opportunity for relatively longer shots. And will have a raptar or radius on board for ranging. So, doesn't need an LRF as a requirement
- Able to handle recoil of a minimum of a .338. Its overkill, but our rifles shoot large hunks of lead and copper.....just how it goes.
- $5k (ish) price range. Not gonna sweat it if it's a few more bucks, but not looking on spending 5 figures at the moment.

The Pulsar Thermion looked to be a fairly decent option for the above requirements, but you guys are far more knowledgeable in this than we are. So, lets hear it...

Thanks!!

For the neck turners...

Hey guys hope your week is going well as we approach the holidays.
So I'm pretty sure I'm going to purchase the 21st century neck turning tool.
My question is about its use and where in your reloading step do you employ it.
My biggest concern is overworking brass. I don't for example want to full length size my brass, then use their mandrel so size the case mouth, only to have to resize it back down again to set neck tension.
Not sure if I'm explaining my question correctly so bare with me.
Right now I full length size without and expander. Then I set neck tension with a gauge pin. My hope was I could turn in between those 2 steps.

Any input always welcome.

Thanks!!

How to test ammo lots?

Right now I am shooting mid grade stuff ($6-$10 a box) and I just shoot a box of each lot I want to test into 5 shot groups at 50 yards. I do this on two different days and buy a case of the winner.

I am now considering stepping up to ($10-$20) a box ammo and wondering what testing protocols I should be using for better ammo. I am still considering testing myself rather than shipping the gun to the Eley and Lapua test ranges as I don't believe Eley will do testing for their Match and Team ammo lines.

Thanks.

Why doesn't Marc Wilson get the Kyle support???

I don't think it's as simple as Black and While (although im sure that plays some part), But it's not politically charged so as pro 2A people why don't we support "good shoots" when they happen and not only when it's to our political advantage.
This isn't to troll I just wanna know why some cases get all the attention and some just get ignored by the media completely
