Smaller bullets do not track as far as large bullets. Multiple distances for velocity display are user definable on the unit. Labradar measures velocities up to 3,900 f.p.s. with 0.1% accuracy using six AA batteries. Labradar is not dependent on any light source and can be used indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions. It is positioned to the side of the weapon, not downrange where other systems are prone to damage. Each shot series provides Hi, Lo, Average, ES, SD. Individual shots display velocities at muzzle and up to five additional distances along with Kinetic Energy at each distance. The data is downloadable via USB or SD card. Built in IPSC / IDPA Power Factor Calculator. Mounts on standard ¼ x 20 tripod thread.

Cleaning a new rifle. Is this normal?

This is a brand new .300 Win Mag which I have not fired and I'm cleaning the bore.
Cleaning supplies:
Tipton one piece carbon fiber cleaning rod
Tipton .30 cal jag (Ultra jag set)
Dewey .30 / .32 cal no harm brass bore brush
Hoppe's #9 solvent
Patches cut from TX612 Texwipe 55% cellulose / 45% polyester clean room wipes
Pro Shot adjustable bore guide
Procedure:
1. Place patch on cleaning jag, advance into bore guide up to solvent slot, soak patch with solvent and run through bore.
2. Remove patch while still at muzzle end and pull cleaning rod back out.
3. Repeat until patch is clean (this has taken three passes each time).
4. Install bore brush on rod, wet brush and make 6 to 8 passes.
5. Start over at step 1.
Results:
Photo shows the patches from the first run to the last starting top to bottom. First patch ran through after bore brush from each run is on the left, second, then third. I don't seem to be making any headway after 15 cycles. Is this normal for a new gun and I just need to continue until first patch after the bore brush is clean? If not then how will I ever know if the bore is clean?

Come back from vacation and your house is gone.....

It sounds like they did her a favor. Boarded up for 15 years, now the company will have to remove the debris and pay her replacement cost. Gotta love the job foreman's response "Oops, wrong address, bye." Packs up and leaves with out a word.:p

Woman returns from vacation, finds Atlanta home demolished

15 hours ago — It's an unforgivable accident. That's how one woman describes coming back from vacation to find a company accidentally leveled a home she owned.

Where we get our word ‘magazine’ from

Did you know that a magazine was a reinforced storehouse building designed to hold gunpowder?

A magazine is an item or place within which ammunition or other explosive material is stored. The word is taken originally from the Arabic word makhāzin(مخازن), meaning "storehouses.”

IMG_9561.jpeg

These storehouses were rather dangerous. On the rare occasion they would explode, leveling parts of a city and killing many, most notably in Delft, Holland.

The Delft Explosion, also known in history as the Delft Thunderclap, occurred on 12 October 1654 when a gunpowder store exploded, destroying much of the city. Over a hundred people were killed and thousands were injured.
Today, the explosion is primarily remembered for killing Rembrandt's most promising pupil, Carel Fabritius, and destroying almost all of his works.

Delft artist Egbert van der Poel painted several pictures of Delft showing the devastation.
1697879024377.jpeg

Over 200 magazines and powder houses were built in New England, and about 50 remain.

We have a famous 300-year-old magazine still standing in Williamsburg, Virginia.

1697879895929.jpeg

When black powder was superseded by smokeless powder, magazines became more like bunkers rather than storehouses and are used to hold cartridge ammunition and explosives.

1697879704299.jpeg

The term has grown to mean any reinforced structure or container meant to safely house ammunition or explosives. Many companies offer magazines as small as a floor safe or as large as a mobile home.

Accessories Free: MS V3 to the poors in Phoenix/AZ

This is a MS-V3 with Wiser mount that has served me well for years. I have the original box & accessories (never used & most likely dusty) that I’ll have to dig up. Has a few battle scars, but still works great.

I’ve been fortunate throughout my life/career to acquire more shooting related shit, than Carter has pills..(and yes, I picked up a new Garmin)

Must be able to pick up at Rio Salado (I live down the street) or Cowtown (shoot matches there twice a month), because I’m not shipping shit.

To qualify, you must post your sob story here…(for entertainment purposes)

Winner will be chosen by me, with juniors given high priority and likes on your posts a close 2nd.

Since I probably know a lot of the competitive shooters in the state, you swinging dicks (yes, I’m ex Navy) qualify also. But if I see this in the PX in the near future, you’ll be treated like the last elephant on earth by a mother with a house full of starving kids..

Zeiss S3 6 36 @$1874 or T6xi 5 30 @$1945 ?

these are new prices, BUT the S3 is MOA- my pref is Mils, but I can make either work.
I've read a ton of threads ie:https://www.snipershide.com/shootin...3-6-36-vs-steiner-t6xi-5-30-opinions.7152089/, but most reference the S3 as being more expensive than the Steiner.
I'd like decent glass, I don't do much low light shooting, so would trade some glass clarity off against overall ease of use, turret quality etc. It'll be going on a 308 bolt shooting out to 600 and I'd like to see holes if feasible.

Thoughts ?

Before anyone says save up and extra $XXX and buy Y, this is me having saved up already....:(
