Looks like Aero is going to have to move out of Washington

Lots of jobs lost, but they will be welcomed in Texas. If you don’t feel like watching the video Washington’s new assault weapons bill bans manufacturing of parts. No official word yet but unless they make some change Aero which is located in Washington will have to move operations, and if the video is correct it’s hundreds of jobs not counting the other peoples jobs indirectly connected.

Elon Musk Tells Tucker Carlson U.S. Government Had Access to Twitter Users’ Direct Messages

Elon Musk Tells Tucker Carlson U.S. Government Had Access to Twitter Users’ Direct Messages
https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2023...-had-access-to-twitter-users-direct-messages/

Unfortunately I’m not shocked nor surprised.

“The degree to which government agencies effectively had full access to everything that was going on on Twitter blew my mind,” Musk told Carlson. “I was not aware of that.” Carlson pressed Musk on whether this also applied to direct messages, and Musk responded with a firm “Yes.”

Someone talk me out of buying an Origin

Looking into getting my first custom action, looking at the origin so I can easily swap between a 6.5 creed and PRC, but might as well get a 223 trainer and ARC bolt while at it.

Seems like availability of prefits is there. Is there anyone else I should look at before pulling the trigger?

Is spending another $400 worth getting something else?

Bully my thoughts

Maggie’s Something odd happening

So I was logging into paypal to make a payment today, when the page came up 404 forbidden. Tried a couple times and it kept coming up same. Then I noticed something odd. Up in the corner of the page that normally comes up with the website symbol or whatever I saw something flash then change back to google symbol. Tried reloading the page and it didn't happen again. Then I thought I'd try with another payment app and it happened again. Zelle, cash app, venmo all come up with a governement seal when I pull them up, but barely for a second. Then I was able to catch it on a screen shot. What do you think?

Savage Kaboom at Local Range

Hey Hide,
I was at the rifle range this morning with my shooting partner. The line had been open for all of ten minutes when a shooter about 30 feet away from us suffered a catastrophic detonation of his rifle, a Savage in 6.5 Creedmoor. I do not know the model. Fortunately for the shooter, he suffered a relatively minor cut to his hand and some cuts to his face, but he was wearing eye pro and was not more seriously injured. Several people were struck with debris from his rifle but none were injured. Some of the debris landed next to my buddy and me. The shooter was using handloads, but could not recall his load - he didn't have it written down and was pretty shaken up by the whole affair.

Pics below. I have been trying to figure out what would cause the rifle to fail in this way. The bore was completely clear, but the barrel was launched about ten feet ahead of his bench. The cartridge case was welded into the chamber but the case head was nowhere to be found. All I can think of is that he used the wrong kind of powder in his handloads (i.e. pistol powder in a rifle case), but that is pure speculation.

Scary moment for sure.

Number of Factory Loads when Breaking In New Rifle?

For shooters without reloading machines: How many different factory loads do you INITIALLY try when breaking in and zeroing a brand new rifle, and how many rounds of each do you initially buy?

It's tempting to buy ammo in bulk for the pricing, but there's always the chance the rifle might not like it.

At least 3-4 different factory loads, perhaps total of 40 rounds each, seems smart, but I'm a newb to precision rifle.

Thanks in advance!

Lesson-Learned: Primer Storage and Humidity

I stumbled across a few articles about storing primers and how humidity affects them over long durations (aka: "years"). I live in Central Oregon, basically High Desert, and I store my primers on the shelf in my reloading room in my house, which is temp and humidity controlled to about 70° and 35% respectively. Historically I figured that was fine, but what I've read lately, and the amount of money I have invested in my 12,000-ish primers, made me re-think that practice.

So I bought a sealed (waterproof) plastic tub for storage, and a batch of little desiccant packages ... and loaded the tub with my primers and threw in a couple of desiccant packs. Within a few days, my desiccant had turned from "orange" to "dark green" indicating they were saturated. I pulled them out, and threw in two more packs and a few days later, same result.

I'll keep doing this until I get desiccant that doesn't saturate, and then ratchet back to a schedule that works to keep my primer stock nice and dry.

Lesson-Learned: Storing primers in a temperature-and-humidity-controlled environment "on a shelf" ... isn't good enough to keep them dry and reliable for years. I needed a sealed container and desiccant packs to guarantee a "bang" instead of a "click" 5-10 years down the road.

Hope this helps someone else that, like me, thought "on a shelf" was the right place for long-term primer storage.

The most honest criminal I’ve ever seen

Guy killed a child rapist who was his new cell mate, cop asked him why he flushed the shoe strings he strangled him with down the toilet, he says I don’t know, I’m in prison I obviously don’t make good decisions, when he was asked why he did it he said he raped a little girl some crimes just shouldn’t be committed. After he killed him he packed up his stuff because he knew he was going to solitary and got into bed and went to sleep.
