My local area has monthly 223 only matches so bought a 26 inch Proof barrel for my Terminus Zeus and I'm running a max load of 6.5 staball and I'm only getting ~2748 fps out of 75 grain projectiles. I've tested above posted max as well but it was unstable.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an available powder that will get me closer to 2900?

Long story short, a had a savage 3006 that wouldn't group worth a crap and re chambered it to 308. Ten years go by and decided I wanted to build something a little different with what I had available with reloading components and rifle parts. I ordered a shelin 3006 barrel and cut it to 24" as well as an XLR chassis system. Going to have to get some quality brass for the reloads as all of mine is surplus for my garands. Also added a new zeiss scope for it too but here's the start.

I have a proof elevation rifle with a nxs 2.5-10x42, I just ordered a manners pro hunter stock, has anyone used this scope on a longer range hunting rifle with a vertical grip? Afraid it’s a little bit too small of a scope for this setup

I know these threads pop up all the time. I've been reading a lot of them and reviews on both of these rangefinder binoculars. Most of the threads focus on the Sig kilo 3000 vs the standard vortex fury (non-ab) because of the comparable price. EuroOptic has a deal right now where the Kilo 3000 is priced at $800 and the Fury 5000 AB is $900. Being the prices are so similar, would the Fury 5000 AB be the better choice? The primary use would be for big game hunting and shooting steel. Also the Leica Geovid R is $1200. I love Leica's but it seems the features aren't comparable to the vortex or sig in the price range.

First post and I'm pretty much clueless on long distance shooting so I apologize. I shoot pistols quite a bit, almost weekly, and AR15's a decent amount and prefer nice stuff. I shoot mostly Atlas and Staccato's pistol wise and Noveske, KAC, and Geissele AR's. All of my rifles are .223/5.56 or 300BLK and I've shot bolt actions very little in my life (55 years old).

Long story short I recently joined a range with distances up to 1100 yards. I have been shooting my AR's there and trying to learn the basics of longer distance shooting and work my way out to 500 yards. Each time I've been to this range someone has offered to let me shoot their bolt action rifle at 1100 yards. So, now I'm hooked as they warned me I would be before shooting them.

I'm most likely about 3-4 months, maybe less, from buying something for long distance, out to 1100-1200 yards at least. Both guns I shot were 6.5CM and is what they recommended. I want a very nice scope, willing to spend up to around $4,000 and leaning towards a Nightforce since I am familiar with them on one of my AR's. Gun wise, I'd say around $5,000. Saying that, I don't want to waste money or spend any unnecessarily but I do like nice stuff. The Barrel MRAD has caught my attention, any thoughts on that or can I get a much better rifle for the money? I'm open to any and all suggestions on scopes, rifles, etc. I just joined this forum a day or two ago but have been searching and reading lots of threads also. Thanks

So I'm looking to build another AR style rifle and am on the fence between one chambered in .223 Wylde (all of my current ones are 5.56) or the 6mm ARC. From what I've read on the 6mm ARC it is best for reloaders due to the fact that only hornady is currently making ammo. I do not reload. Yet. That's a rabbit hole I have not crawled into. So I'd have to rely on factory ammo. I like the 5.56 round but am looking for a round with a bit more reach since I have access to ranges up to 1k. I plan to jump into a bolt gun at some point... but I've always been fond of the gas gun.

I have short CQB-friendly Pump-actions covered for contact distance encounters. Today, I really need to investigate the current crop of premium semi-auto combat shotguns.

I hear a lot of 'Mall Ninjas" talk about the Benelli M-4 but I wonder if the juice is worth the squeeze. I'm initially thinking of a Beretta 1301 but, I hear the new A300 Patrol is good too. Then there are the custom options from shops like Wilson Combat. With the Remington bankruptcy with Freedom Group, I'm not considering a worked over 1187 today. I expect to spend more than $1,000 and would like to stay under $2,000. NFA is an option but, I really think I should stay away from tax stamps for this purchase.

Basically, I want to 'pay once and cry once' so trying to cheap out a few hundred dollars and having buyer's remorse that I didn't get something else is also a consideration since these are so expensive.

I live in a rural part of Texas and I'm about a 1/4 mile from the public road. Since I moved here, two animal hoarders have moved in and I have been attacked by dogs three times so, these days I am generally armed when doing chores or outside in general. The Meth House burned to the ground from Arson after the Meth Head was evicted.

Typically I have been using a rifle which is great for shooting dogs at 200 yards but, fields of fire are pretty restrictive with other people living in the area and livestock in adjacent pastures. I think a shotgun with appropriate loads is really a better option for me these days so, here I am. Basically, I want a quality shotgun that is capable of really rapid fire without disrupting my aim excessively and limiting my lethal range a bit. I'm thinking I will want to keep effective stopping power to about 50 yards with power falling off afterward either through physics, hitting the ground, etc. while still retaining good lethality when closer in. In my Pump shotgun, I am primarily running Hornady Coyote BB loads right now but, I have run #4, #1, and 00 Buck in the past generally in low recoil formats.

So, who runs a "social" shotgun today, and what recommendations do people have for me?
