I bought this 100mm lens Amasight Zeus Pro 640 brand new. Took it out the case 1 time to test. Took it out again the other day to test it and discovered about a 3rd of the germanium lens coating (AR coating) was cracked, flaked, peeled off.
I've never touched it, cleaned it or used it yet as I'm still building my first AR15.

This is a disaster from what little info I can find online. Honestly there's nearly nothing on the subject except for some vague mentions of a thermal AR coating on thermal optics bringing the sensitivity from about 45% to 90% in thermal accuracy or sensitivity but it was pertaining to variables in thermal in general. It was also a post of some guys claim in a forum online. I found no evidence to support it much less anyone who had this issue. Google searches are fruitless.

Is there anyway to repair this coating? Ive read theres not. I spoke to opticsplanet and they won't take it back after 30 days. Ive had the scope almost a year. Flir has me registered under warranty for 1 year. My 1 year is up in about a month. Flir told me to contact Opticsplanet and if I run into any barriers to contact them again.

What is this coating made of? Can I still use the scope and detect over a mile away still?
Its a 100mm lens. the Armasight Zeus Pro 640. The best one they made.
I know the lens is 1st or 2nd most expensive part on the scope.
Im pretty upset. In fact I'm extremely upset. I spent just under $5K on this and never used it.

PLEASE, anyone out there can give me any hope or advice or ANY info I'd greatly appreciate it or just direct me to someone knowledgeable on this topic.

So it's been a while since there's been a 3D printer thread. Looking at one of these to make some simple gun related items (loadling blocks, data cards, etc), but I know nothing about them. Looking for a decent starter type machine. What's the new hotness with these machines in the $300-$500 range?

If you skip to roughly :54 in the video below you will see the thing that I think looks a bit funny. The video really does not do it justice, but in the "live" view it looks like it is crystal. This is a new rifle to me, and I have not shot it yet, the video is how it came out of the box. Corrosive primers are common in this rifle, and I was thinking it might be salt crystal? Just looking for other thoughts on it.

The rifle is a 1917 Westinghouse 91/30....pretty one at that. This rifle is unlike any of my other mosins, no other word but it feels crisp and sharp next to the well worn examples usually come across. I think this one got very little use, but clearly some use. Plan is to clean it up this afternoon, and shoot it some before the cold hits us again.

Seems like a short action Remington 700 action is a little tough to find, and if you do find one it's pushing $600. Inflation hits everything.
Brownells still had some but now I see they are gone.
Installing a Criterion barrel onto a Remington is stupid easy and shoots really good, I've done it before so that's the plan again.
So who has 700 receivers in stock? And maybe for not stupid money? 223 bolt face.

I won a Howa 1500 in a raffle. I paid $38 for the entry so I don't have a lot in it. The rifle has the green Hogue stock, a cheap Niko Stirling 4-12x40 Game Pro Scope and has the 22" Contour Barrel (not the heavy barrel) and it's chambered in .308. It's threaded so I can put my can on it so that's a plus. But... As much as I like the feel of the stock, I kind of want to turn it into a chassis gun. So here are the options:

1. Just put a chassis on it as is
2. Re-barrel with a heavy barrel and add the chassis
3. Sell it and use the funds to build something the way I want
4. Just leave it alone and shoot the dang thing

Obviously, option 1 is gonna be the cheapest. How much will accuracy suffer due to not having a heavy barrel though? Is this worth doing?? Just looking for some opinions.

The implication seems far reaching. This should impact damn near everything from the federal Gun Control Act of 1968 as violating the Bruen "standard." My understanding is the ATF&E held an emergency meeting after the decision (albeit hearsay).

I gave this glove to a 12 year old player last year. He got two seasons of good play out of it. Now it's back for a tune up. I need to order some blue laces to finish it. I can't do much about the piping around the wrist. That kind of thing happens when kids don't take glove off between pitches. Tell you r kids to take the glove off between pitches and it will last a whole lot longer.

A Naples, Florida, doctor accused of sexually assaulting patients while performing cosmetic surgery was found dead in a ditch with a gunshot wound to the head Monday.
Eric Andrew Salata’s, 54, death was confirmed by a Collier County medical examiner to have been self-inflicted, Fox 4 reported.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the area of the 4800 block of Gail Boulevard to perform a welfare check on Salata after no movement was detected on his ankle monitor Monday, WINK News reported. Upon arrival, they discovered Salata’s body near a wooded area with a pistol next to his right leg.
A week earlier, Salata was arrested on November 21 at his office at the Pura Vida Medical Spa after two patients accused him of having sexually battered them while performing cosmetic medical treatments.
According to the Naples Police Department:

One victim advised being administered nitrous oxide to assist with sedation and pain from the procedure. During the procedure, as the nitrous oxide was wearing off, she found Dr. Salata performing sexual intercourse. The victim felt shocked after the sedation subsided about what had taken place, contacted police, and submitted to a sexual assault examination which was sent to the FDLE laboratory for the continuing investigation.
A second victim came forward and relayed to police a similar account about her experience while under sedation at Pura Vida Medical Spa with Dr. Salata. Detectives collected sexual assault evidence, which was also submitted to the FDLE laboratory for comparison and to support a prosecution of Dr. Salata.

A judge set Salata’s bond at $100,000 on Tuesday, but the doctor paid cash bail immediately and was bonded out the same day, according to the Naples Daily News.
A lawyer representing one of Salata’s accusers says that it will turn from a criminal case to a civil one, as they intend to file a suit against the deceased doctor’s estate and business.
