Recoil X brake

Just recently got to shoot a supressor with the recoil X brake on it. It may just be me but I really did feel it kinda blended the best of both worlds. Much quieter and less concussive shooting with mild to medium recoil management. Clearly, it's not APA but I'm curious anyone else had real world experience with it and tell me it's not just in my head.

I've already ordered one for my Omega regardless.

Gun Room/Vault Panels and Organization

Hello all.

Looking for input on the best gun room or gun vault organizing wall system. I’m in the process of building a basement gun vault. Looking for wall panels which allow me the best options for securing multiple firearms ranging from pistols to large precision rifles in an organized fashion inside a relatively small space. Considering options from Gallow Tech. and SecureIt. Are there other companies I have not uncovered?

What I would love is a system which allows for vertical long gun storage as well as pistol storage.

SOLD Ridgeline Defense RD15 LPR - Tanodized/FDE

Catch and release.
Picked this up three days ago and put two mags through it. In the meantime, I got called up for a backorder on another rifle I’ve been waiting on.

Price: $2,500 shipped

Note: Ships with factory furniture and a standard 20-round PMAG. Muzzle brake, B5 furniture, and optic setup not included.

May 2025 Topstraps Rimfire Match Results

The May match turned out pretty good. Less people, more new shooters I think than regulars but maybe being Mothers Day kept some away or maybe getting boring. I switched some racks around to shake it up a bit, some might stay in place others will be returned to their regular spot but for sure the Dog Bones will be out for next month.

All day Friday the wind really blew and from about noon on it really howled on Saturday. The scores suffered a bit due to the wind gusting up to 27-29 mph at times which made hitting some smaller targets tough but everyone gave it their all with no complaints. Those pesky Dog Bones someone slid in at 150 yards didn't leave much room for error with them being only about 1 inch wide with a bit of nubs at top and bottom. Sunday shooters did much better with them, they may appear later on as a bonus somewhere but for now back in the weeds they go.

Kurt Yoder was really nailing them with that Sako Quad, he's really putting on those Vudoo competitors. Let's hope he don't upgrade to a Savage MK II or we'll never stand a chance of keeping up. I did put the Chrono up for Cuda that wanted to try some $1.07/50 Aguilla ammo, I just may have to git me sum of dat. 78 shots recorded extreme spread of 118 fps with a 21.6 SD. That's some serious Longrange ammo there. He shot twice, first time when it was cold on Friday and tried it later on Sunday when it was well into the 70s to see if there was a difference. NOPE That's the same gun he shot Lapua SLR in last fall and nearly cleared the course and won the match with. AMMO AMMO AMMO

Bonus rack this month was splitting the bullet on an axe at 50 yards. Got 4 shots to figure it out, a lot tougher than you'd think. I included how they got their hits at the end of each of their names. OK, on to the scores. Class winners and a free entry next month will be Kurt Yoder in A, Mark Elliott in B and Karen Marsh in C. Check the little hanging clipboard to claim your coupon. There are past months winners also hanging there so check it when you sign up.

All ties decided by reverse count including bonus rack.

Range Report 7mm-08 vs 6.5 creed, which is better ballistics

A buddy is claiming a 7mm-08 is a better long range cartridge than a 6.5, I would assume creed but he isn't specifying. He would build it on a long action to seat bullet out further, which would seem very much apples to oranges if relegating the 6.5 to a short action. Can anyone help me out to validate this claim?

Hearing protection active muffs in 2025

So I've read a few of the threads over the years and the somewhat relevant recent ones were from end of 2023.

Went to the range today after a tough day at work and realized I couldn't find my walker razor slim active electronic muffs. Also couldn't find the wife's purple Howard leight electronics either. Had to resort to foamies.

I mostly shoot suppressed. Generally only active muffs or if I double up I use orange rolled foamies cause my dad taught me right. My good outdoor range closed so I have been having to go indoors more often.

Been thinking of upgrading from the walkers for a couple of years. Want to stick with active muffs. Don't want anything too thick either. Do not use a helmet but it would also be nice to have recommendations for ones that can be switched to work with some form of hard hat use when I do storm chainsaw cleanup work. Do not need mic or comms. I've got amateur radio for that.

What are the worthwhile upgrades at different price points? Where do you recommend to get them? I don't get mil/Le discounts.

Edit: I wear prescription glasses. Currently Oakley barrelhouse.

Vortex Impact 4000 Cold Weather Issues

I Have had my Impact 4000 for about a year now. Overall I'm happy with the product. Recently I took the unit out for some training in winter conditions. 15 degrees F, light snow cover. Noticed almost immediately that battery life MAX was about 15 minutes, no backlight use. Also, when the laser was fired, the screen would go blank momentarily before turning back on and displaying the range. Once the Low Battery icon flashed the consistency/accuracy of the target ranges became very suspect and unreliable.

Has anyone else experienced these issues, or used their impact in very cold weather? I also understand that this is a CIVILIAN range finder and expectation of performance needs to be evaluated in extreme environments. That being said, up here in the northeast its very cold for months on end and I'd like to understand the capabilities of this unit.

Does anyone have experience using a higher end unit (MARS, Wilcox) in cold conditions and do those units perform similar?

Also for reference, I was using energizer lithium CR123A batteries that had been checked beforehand. The same batteries lasted all day in my Vectronix Terrapin/Kestrel. Thanks for any feedback!
