S&B 1-8x25 short dot - illumination not working

I have a rare day off tomorrow and was going to the range. I received my new batteries for my S&B 1-8x25 (CR2032) and popped it in. I store without any batteries in the device. I also tested the battery with a voltage meter and working as it should.

My scope has the 11 illumination settings. I get zero illumination at any setting. This was working just fine before putting it in my climate controlled safe. I tried contacting S&B support, but I just missed them. I've searched all over the net for info and came up short.

I'm sure my only hope here will be calling them tomorrow, but thought I would put this out there if anyone had comments or suggestions.

390 grain Hornady A-Tip load development 375 Cheytac

I loaded up 5 each of 124 126 and 128 grains of vv n570 in junk Jamison grass; got 2925, 2975ish and 3015 fps with those all with SD less than 7; accuracy was kind of all over the place in a 1-10 twist Lilja barrel, 35"; pockets were loose to start with, starting to get ejector swipes at the 128 grain load but bolt lift easy.

COAL was 4.350" (IIRC) which is about 20 thousandths off the lands; Fed 215m primer

I then loaded up 5 each of 125, 127, 129 in Bertram brass. The 129 and maybe the 127 grain started opening up the pockets but no hard bolt lift, no bright ejector swipes; accuracy was even worse for this round in a 1-12 twist Bartlein barrel, 35". Like the first 3 shots through a freshly cleaned barrel went in a horizontal line marching to the left by 2 MOA each shot - I have no idea what to make of this. The remainder of the groups were 1.5+ MOA 5-shot groups which is NOT characteristic for this (or the Lilja barrel). Fortunately I had some 350 SMK loads (132 grain vv N570, about 3200 fps) with me that I know shoot lights out with both barrels and ran 3 through the Lilja barrel (all touching, about 3/8" CTC) and 2 through the Bartlein (touching, 1/4" CTC), so I know it's not me flinching and it's not the barrels.

I'm not sure what to do next, but I think I'm going to load some up with RL50 because I have that and it sinks 750 AMAX into one hole with my Lilja 50 BMG barrel.

My other observation is that the loss of 200-250 fps with the 390 gr bullet compared to the 350 SMK at 3200 (132 grains n570) and 352 grain CEB (3220 fps with 134 grains n570) all but wipes out the gains from the improved BC in terms of drop, but leaves it a little edge still for wind drift. I'm inclined to persist because I don't like solids and we're trying to develop a long range deer hunting round.

I have plenty of Peterson brass but intentionally started with less sturdy stock to detect pressure signs earlier. I wager that Peterson will be able to tolerate just shy of 130 grains n570 before it starts to give in to the pressure. I will report more results when available; please also share your own experience and thoughts below. Thanks!

CZ Firearms is helping the Canadian Liberal Party confiscate firearms from legal owners

(Canadian Firearms Lawyer, post includes a link to Parliamentry questions specifying the involvement of Colt Canada)

Context: The Canadian Liberal party has banned >2500 firearms in Canada since May 2020 including effectively all semi auto centre fire rifles but also a broad swathe of rimfires, bolt actions and shotguns.

Now it appears they have contract Colt Canada (Owned by CZ Firearms) to destroy an initial batch of 12,000 firearms and likely the follow up 500-600,000 firearms

As Canadian gun owners we need every gun owner worldwide to object as strongly as possible to this.

NB: Colt Canada is practically the only organisation in Canada that can do this work. Convincing them to not do it would vastly increase the complexity and cost of storing, transporting and destroying these firearms. Just exporting them to the USA would easily add 50% to the costs. This further encourages the likelihood of the programmes cancellation as it is currently increasingly unpopular with the public.

Kelbly's Black Bear Tactical

- First off, I wanna start by saying that I am fairly "newish" to the Hide. Even though I've been stalking the Hide's PX section for quite a while, this will be my first full blown review of a product on here. With that being said, I wanna begin this review with a brief understanding that I don't know it all, nor do I claim to. I have a fairly deep background in long range shooting and pride myself on being 100% unbias and unfiltered when it comes to shooting and create my own opinions based off of real world usage and self discovered knowledge. That being said, I approached Ian Kelbly of Kelbly's Inc. to write this review, and he and I are on the same page. I'm not getting paid, nor do I expect anything in return for this article.

- Quick rundown of myself so everyone can begin to understand how I see things.... Kinda. I've been shooting long range competitions in some form for the past 10 years. I started out trying to one up my buddies with BB guns, which morphed into centerfire rifles, at a young age. Hunting was a big part of how I grew up, so naturally I based all of my opinions and knowledge off of a hunting mindset. It wasn't until I found F-Class that shooting at distance became a focal point within my life and a true passion (in its most honest sense) began to form. I spent a good amount of time on those open firing lines learning wind and watching trace. This is where I learned general ballistics. This is where I talked with 100's of shooters about load development. This is where I shot terrible but learned from my mistakes. This is where I realized having the right tools of the trade counted. I still like to look back and thank F Class and its community for teaching me those things.

Jump forward to the inception of the PRS and Practical Tactical matches. I had already joined the military and had an essence of tactical shooting with watching the AMU and International teams duke it out on Ft. Benning (As a bystander, just wanna make that clear), so I had an understanding of practical precision fires. When I went to my first PRS event, F Class shooting was replaced immediately. I was fairly young, and PRS spoke to a new era of "progressive" competitions. Just watching had the most profound impact on me and I had to get involved.... Since then, PRS/NRL and "Tactical" style matches are all I have shot and it's easily been the most impactful activity within my life. Personal and professional. I've learned more shooting, made more friends, and gained more real world knowledge than I can even begin to think about. It truly has been the best learning platform to test new theories and take back to discuss in my professional career on a real world level.

With that out of the way, I implore everyone reading this that has questions or critiques, voice them. I'm a big boy, I can take it.

Rifle Scopes Athlon OpticsAres BTR GEN3 HD 2.5-15x50 vs VIPER® PST™ GEN II 3-15X44 FFP

I’m looking to compare these 2 scopes since they seem to be similar quality.
I just picked up a 22in weatherby 307 in 6.5 PRC and am looking for a scope I can use for hunting and the occasional competition.
So far my only experience with magnified optics is the vortex viper pst gen 2 2-10 in mils that lives on my mk12 clone that I use for coyotes.
