Looking at a possible move soon to the Idaho Falls area. I know what the west has to offer in regards to outdoor activities, as I used to live in CO and work in and around the Tetons regularly. But, what are Idaho's politics like these days? It it a Libtopia yet, where I'll have to leave my Pmags, suppressor and NV behind or trade them in for pairs of skinny-jeans and a Prius? I don't sport a man-bun either.
Please tell me ID hasn't fallen to the Commies yet.

I am Utah so I don't have direct knowledge but I hear Boise is under siege but they are putting up a good fight. Otherwise you are GTG.

Idaho has been ranked #1 state for gun ownership last 3 years, with Wyoming and Utah in the top 3. Texas is actually 10th or something like that.

Idaho wins due to the passage of "constitutional carry" a 4 years ago.

That's good to hear! Also heard that a lot of people from Cali were moving there, so I was worried.

    Constitutional carry.

Look how many gun parts and accessories are made there.

Speer/CCI is there, KRG, and about 20 others I can't remember.

Then you can take a drive into Montana where I swear there are 20 different barrel makers.

Just avoid Boise and you'll likely about all the liberals.

idaho home prices are spiking because of libtards from california
the resentment is becoming more and more open, and idahoan kids cannot afford to buy homes now.
if you're not from califonia, it might not be so bad, but i would still consider getting your idaho license plates before you move.

Born and raised in SE Idaho and its not what it used to be... Major invasion from Cali and other areas. Idaho Falls is a nice area and good people but it is BOOMING in size and has been for about 15 years now. Plenty of gun owners but the slow creep is in progress.

I drove to Idaho from Jackson hole. There are potato barns, grain bins and a gas station every 75 miles. That’s it lol. And enough open ground to shoot as far as you want

That area is lots of private ground owned by investors, not really representative of the rest of the area. Once you hit the valley there is a serious case of urban sprawl.

If anyone doubts that liberalism is a mental disorder then answer this: how else do you explain leaving a state you helped fuck up (Commifornia), then bringing the very same philosophy to a sane/free state? These liberal fuckers should be required by law to live in Commifornia for the rest of their natural lives.

FWIW Idaho Falls is very heavy LDS territory.
If you are conservative that is no big deal. I live in LDS central. 25 miles from their version of Mecca. I am not LDS. They are good people. And do not take kindly to strangers telling them how to run their shit.

I am sure that is why Idaho appears to be putting up a better fight than Austin, Denver, or other places that are more "accepting" of others ideas.

    I live in SE Idaho.

There are two decent shooting complexes near the IF area. The Unified Sportsmen's Club (USC) west of Rexburg and the SEIPS range southwest of IF. The USC has a 1k range and fairly active match schedule for LR and 3 gun. SEIPS is action pistol stuff. We also have a good complex here in Pocatello with multiple bays, but only goes out to 375 yds or so. Not unusual to hear someone firing a full auto and I see suppressors all the time.

Gun laws are mostly non-existant. Actually been moving more towards the freedom side recently. Constitutional Carry...etc. Who knows where it will end up down the road though. House prices are climbing quickly and there is a lot of growth in the area. Winters tend to be cold and windy, so I think that has helped keep the invasion to more reasonable levels compared to Boise and Northern Idaho.

Also, as pointed out, SE Idaho is very LDS. No issues for me, but something to be aware of.

Seems like the LDS peeps are good to go...…….wait do they try to tell others how to run their shit????

We ended up driving through some very interesting areas around Boise I think it was. It was the most diverse section 8 I’ve ever been to. A rather lovely meximogidishu.

.gov/commies are responsible for that. Import “refugees” from snithole countries to sparsely populated states. Ie Maine/Dakotas/Wyoming etc. get those senate votes.

Sounds good. How's open land for shooting? I am coming from Ohio, where we have plenty of ranges to 1k+. I don't vote Lib either, nor does LDS bother me. So I'd be adding another Constitutional voter to the rolls, fwiw.
Was briefly looking at homes on realtor dot com. Seems reasonable for what I glanced at.

Plenty of open land in Idaho. Housing prices are reasonable although they are increasing at a fast pace. I just built a house 3 years ago and my home value has increased by more than 30%. Sounds great but with that comes higher property taxes.

I was in Idaho Falls last month for a week of training. Idaho Falls and all other places in Idaho wish you would stay where you are, especially if you are secretly voting communist. Every California scumbag seems to move there and crap the place up, Boise is utterly infested with leftists. In the north, closer to my home, California sewage is ruining the countryside. We have them trespassing on everyone's property, vandalizing game cameras, using their dogs to run deer and wild game to save it from hunters. There sissy cars clogging the highways and they are all voting commie for the most part. They haven't started destroying that part of Idaho yet.

Idaho Falls is very Mormon from what I could tell. It has a couple of decent gun stores, one with a build your own AR-15 table, loaner tools and racks of parts. No employee help is allowed. They have a decent indoor range in town as well. Several decent places to eat and an old diner from the 1930's on the old highway that was interesting. There is a nearby Cabela's and a Chik-Fil-A down the road. Plenty of open spaces outside of town but it looks like it gets a lot of hunting pressure on nearby public lands.

I did see a surprising number of Cali-commie license plates for the area, I was dealing with locals and they were nice. As far as "shooting on open land", be aware of the rules for shooting, especially during fire season and respecting property lines.

Hmmm, i dont know man... SLC used to be conservative. The move is in...big. And if you think ohh that is just downtown lib bullshit think again.

People see UT and always go, yeah but the blue areas are just SLC, Lehi, Farmington? and a few others... yeah " just a few". It just so happens thats where the money is at.

    Oil and gas? wrong answer.

Its healthcare and tech for the next 15 years. Nothing wrong with it either, im just saying, for a minute thats what been keeping the lights on in UT. And neither field is to the right of center.

    Sooooooo...... hold fast.

Interesting. Pocatello was one of the areas the wife and I were looking at to retire (yep, I live in California). Seemed like a real nice town...

I saw this bumper sticker the other day, "Don't Californicate Montana".

Every time I see one of those nasty ass California plates I pray to God it's just another asshole tourist and not another libtard moving in.

Well asshole, I'm one of those plates that are up there twice a year. Now my desire to move/retire there is even greater, just to piss off the narrow minded dickheads in the state...

Not everyone from California is liberal, there genius.

Wyoming has been constitutional carry ever since I moved here 6+ years ago.

The law passed in 2011. And WY doesn't have any stupid 16lb weight limit on hunting rifles.

Well now, look who thinks it’s all about them? And about to retire, no less. If you’re going to bring a shitty attitude somewhere, don’t do it somewhere nice. Move to Austin, or Portland.

You’re either liberal or blind if you don’t see why people act like that towards commiefornians.
If I tell people where I’m from I make sure to preface it with my political views. Or else they think you’re a commie too.

Lol! Someone calls someone else out for saying "fuck all Californians", regardless of whether they're conservative or liberal, and I'm the one with a shitty attitude? Fuck dude, you better wake the fuck up. We either all stand together, or hang separately.

Lol? I shouldn't have to preface my political leanings. If they're that narrow minded, then they're part of the problem too (useful idiots, anyone?). They should think before saying some generalized, bullshit, bloviated, non-critcal thinking bullshit like that.

He never said “fuck all Californians “ I’m sure he would welcome people that believe in freedom. Here’s a county by county voting map for the people that think the “blue states “ are pure commie. You do have to understand where these ppl are coming from when you see what the cancerous California transplants have done where they migrate en mass

Generalizations and stereotypes exist for a reason. Your state leads the nation for retardness and communism. Ie your bums , gun bans, CARB, banning trucks from entering the state etc.

That was more in reaction to Arclight's dumbassed comment (which was essentially fuck Californians)

And I get where they're coming from, just trying to call out the blanket hating on all Californians. We're the ones left, trying vote to correct the ship, despite having the deck stacked against us. People bitch about California, then bitch that they can't afford shit. Some of us go where the high paying jobs are, deal with shit, and leave when we're done. Smh...

What would you say in his shoes?
What my friends in Hardin and Big Timber say every year, "Brother, you need to finish up there, and move yourself to a free state".

    That's what I'd say.

Living/working in Cali is just like PMC contract work; the money is good, the environment sucks, and most of us are just trying build enough of a nest egg to leave and live reasonably comfortably somewhere else.

Didn't think I had to state the obvious, douche bag. Pro 2nd Amendment people are exempt from my comments.

In your case, stay the fuck in your shithole of a state. You deserve to be there.

Washington is home. We’ve allowed Californians to turn it into the mess it is in 40 years. Calling out and bitching you’re an exception without taking the time to understand that, and you’ve earned the flak.

Of course we need to stick together as best we can, or we’re really fucked. Move to a better state with the attitude that you’re prepared to fit in and be a part of the solution, and stop bitching about locals being resistant to outsiders.

    It’s a feature, not a flaw.

If you fit in, you might be welcomed as the exception you claim to be.

Idaho, home sweet home. Land of the free and home of the poor. Idaho is the lowest paying state in the country. In my neck of the woods the guys making $10 per hour think they're doing well , the guys who make $20 think that they're fucking rolling in cash .
