My impression was that the 300bkout was intended for the AR 15 platform where it would feed from std. 556 mags. I can't imagine that is even close to a 308, let alone a 6.5 cm. Probably more comparable to the 7.62x39. Bolt rifles can handle most anything, therefore I wouldn't limit myself...

I've had good luck with Egw bases and Tps rings for a medium cost solution for a non-magnum rifle. I had the Burris xtr rings and did not like them due to their large size.

For your purpose and budget, that's a good choice. I have the 8-32x56 on a 308 for the same use. No idea how tough it is, but I have found no faults with mine considering the $.

Kiwi neutral shoe polish. Have also used olive oil cooking spray that worked well except it left some small air pocket voids in the bedding. Normal non-aerosol olive oil should work great.
