    Suppressors Suggestions for suppressor cleaning?

Re: Suggestions for suppressor cleaning? Thunder, this is kind of why I posted this question, WD-40 as a cleaner or lube kind of rubs me the wrong way. But it's what SWR recommends in the 2-page manual. And it says NOTHING about lubing the LCD which I didn't get because there has to be...

    Suppressors Suggestions for suppressor cleaning?

Just got my Trident9 and shot it on my P226, awesomely quiet with my 3.8 gr loads of Bullseye (147 gr FMJs). The very minimal 'booklet' that came with it said to clean it with WD-40. Is that what you guys use? What cleaning process and solvents do you guys use on your suppressors? I know not...

    Midway USA AICS good choice?

Re: Midway USA AICS good choice? They are a great chassis system. I prefer the 2.0 which folds and costs a little more though.

Stock Remington 700 5R VS Custom on a $1600 budget

Re: Stock Remington 700 5R VS Custom on a $1600 budget I have several nice rifles, two of them are 5R's, both in .308. I took a stock 5R to a local smith to have it shortened and threaded. No problem with it, easy sub-MOA shooter. After doing the barrel threading the smith took it to the...

    Gunsmithing remington model 7 stocks??

Re: remington model 7 stocks?? Big vote for the HS kevlar here. It free floated my barrel, is light and comfortable, and tightened up the groups immediately. Mine is 6mm Rem and a wonderful deer gun. Never tried the McMillan for the M7, but I do use A5's on my non-hunting rifles.

    Bottom Metal for Weatherby?

I picked up a Weatherby TRR in .223 off GB for a good price, nice rifle, shoots excellent at 100 yards. Short thick barrel but not heavy and well balanced. Could use a faster twist, but that will be for the next barrel... Anyway, it's my gun to play around with. I'm going to desert camo it with...

Gunsmithing Recrown when getting a brake installed?

I have no gunsmith edjamacation but want to get a thread-on brake installed on a rifle I have. When they cut the threads on the barrel do they typically recut the crown as well? If a thread protector is made, does it match the crown, replace it, what? Does the crown even matter as much on a...

Why Doesn't Remington just build this rifle......?

Re: Why Doesn't Remington just build this rifle......? I can't really justify the price of a high end custom stick, although I'm saving some coin up to buy something like a GAP Crusader someday... but... I do have two 5R's in .308 that are absolute tack drivers out of the box. That said I...

    5.7x28mm tough lil boogers

Re: 5.7x28mm tough lil boogers Don't tumble the brass, keep case life around 3 reloads due to excessive shoulder movement to avoid seperation, and make sure shoulder is set back far enough. I have the Hornady New Dimension dies. What powder/load will you be trying?

Gunsmithing I need a torque wrench for my AICS...

Re: I need a torque wrench for my AICS... So I guess that by 'concensus' the Wheeler FAT wrench is an acceptable tool to use for torque adjustments for action screws? I'll just do what Nutt and Swan suggest, thanks. On the AICS, what should I torque at? I've heard anywhere from 40-65 from my...

Gunsmithing I need a torque wrench for my AICS...

I have one of those Wheeler FAT wrenches which is fine for a lot of things, but I recently put a Rem700 in an AICS and it has 2 action bolts that are hex (Allen?). I have a regular Allen wrench that will fit the boltheads, but not a bit for the FAT wrench, and besides the bits for that are way...

Gunsmithing Dimensions for Flush Cup Sockets

Re: Dimensions for Flush Cup Sockets I have Blackhawk flush cups in hand and the holes should be 1/2"x1/2". IOW drill a 1/2" hole 1/2" deep to mount the socket. Use expoxy to coat the hole, tap cup in with rubber mallet or 1/2" wooden dowel, wipe away excess exopy. Instructions suggest...

    Noveske falsh suppressor

Re: Noveske falsh suppressor As others have said, it's more like a flash light than a flash suppressor. Everything is thrown out the front, flaming pig is right. I keep one on a short gun only. That said, for indoor/in car use your team mates will love you. None of that blowback coming their...

    Georgia Arms ammo

Re: Georgia Arms ammo I would say 'be careful' in most cases. I have not had an issues personally, but there have been many threads over the years on this ammo causing problems. Expecially in Glocks, KB's abound I've read. I bought 500 rounds of .223 for range work in an AR-15 and I was...
