    Re: Anyone still for the 30-06 30-06 was my first of many rifles, and its still the first i reach for when i open the safe to go hunting! i have more 'sophisticated' calibers but the '06' just does everything right, and it does it cheaply. Barrel life, ammo ect... its just a great all round...

    Re: tikka t3?? sorry guys, JROB300 was after pics of both the following... the stock recoil lug? damaged lug? Dick.. sounds like you have overcome the fault which is great, i wasnt aware of the issue, does it occur only in rifles that have aftermarket stocks fitted or is it a problem...

    Re: Factory Ammo for 300 win mag interesting... call me old fashioned but im still in favour of the brass cases rather then nickel/zinc plated versions. still.. for factory ammo, it shoots well, went through a few boxes on the weekend and was happy out to 600 yards with constant accuracy.

    Re: Factory Ammo for 300 win mag best ammo i have shot in my win mag is the Hornandy TAP AMMO, which is basically the facorty tactical offering from hornandy. 178 gr tips which offer decent stability in wind bit hard to find here in OZ though there are other offerings which i am finding ok...

    An interesting read atm is that the American armed forces are upgrading there .308 to .300 win mag.... What is the realistic effective range of this caliber.. i would have thought that the benefits do not out way the cost implications of such an excercise...
