Re: 308 Sierra 135 SMK, anyone load em Thought of using these also. I had purchased some hornady 130 game bullets with the flat base a while back and decided to try them recently. I used varget and the results were amazing! Should make for a good 300-400 yard bullet. Still want to try the SMK...
Re: Variable runout - help!! I have an RCBS Case Master Gauge and had to modify it. It does not work properly from the factory. You will have to make sure the case rides on the web of the case instead of right above the web where there is a small bulge in fired brass. Also make sure the rim...
Re: 208 A max Input start with 5 thou off the lands and go from there. I shoot these in a 30 06 and started with 5 thou off and got excellent results and just left the load there.
Re: what brass should i use? Lapua. One reason for me is, it takes so much of my time to prep the cases. Why not buy the one that will last the longest? Also with different brass manufacturers, your load will change a little due to different case capacity.
Re: What you like best about your reloading area: I like that it is my space. I use the garage which I installed an A/C and heater in. I am still able to use it for parking the vehicles and workshop area. Helps that it is clmate controlled year round. Take the advice and build it bigger than...
Re: Custom or Trued Remington I second Lawton. Give them a call. I don't think you would have to wait long. If you decide to go with them, have them do the whole thing. Get the barreled action and then have it bedded and mounted in whatever stock you prefer. I bought my Lawton used but like...
Re: Seating into the Lands? I've good luck with 0.05 off the lands. Have had no need to get up in the lands. I've been using Hornady A Max, Hornady spire point, and Sierra matchkings. Nothing but excellent results when you find that perfect powder charge.
Re: Help with the right reloading book I too beleive the more books you have the better you will understand the process. With good knowledge as descibed in the many different manuals you will see things a little bit different in each manual and put it all together yourself. Best advice is...
Re: Primer Age? Green labels are from the sixties to mid/late seventies. The red labels are from the eighties. That's about as far as I can help you. If you are unsure if they are good you can test them. Just prime up a case without powder and bullet of course, and test it. You will see a...
Re: Hornady, first press? The only way I have found to get a good set up is piece it together yourself. Most kits will get you started but leave you wanting more, etc.
Re: neck sizing? I use a neck sizing die set up per manufacturer directions. No problems encountered and easier on the brass. I use the FL sizer after about the 5th time fired but just bump the shoulder back far enough to get the brass in without resistance.
Re: load testing help 0.3 grains will make a difference in a rifle. Shooting 3 round groups will only tell you that the load is worth trying again. Next time with that good load, try 5 rounds (5 rounds will tell you the load is consistant). If it proves good again, try 10 rounds (10 rounds...
Re: Ogive caliper attachment I have the entire hornady set. Works really well for me. the whole set costs around $100 but worth it to me. Check it out. Brunos in N. Phoenix carries them, they have good prices on most things. If they are out of stock it could take a long time to get them in so...
