Has anyone read about a technique using a turkey feather as a paint brush for your camo pattern? I read about it on some forum . You applied the base coat. Sprayed the feather lightly with the next color and dabbed it on the stock with twists etc. Than you moved on to the next color with a fresh...
I replaced the crappy trigger on my Rem. 700 AAC-SD with a Timney. Great trigger pull now, but occasional light trigger strikes with old Nato Ammo (1982). Is it possible that the installation or adjustment can be causing light strikes? We tried the ammo in another similar but stock rifle and...
Has anyone installed the Atlasworks bottom metal magazine adapter from the group buy? If so, how hard is it to do? Can it be done with hand tools and a drill press?
What factory ammo would you buy to shoot and keep the brass for reloading. I will be reloading the brass and want to buy good stuff to start with. I don't want to try different factory loads so the brass stays consistent. I've seen good load recipes on here so that part will be easy.
I painted my barreled action with Alumihyde II. After one day in the garage, I left it in my black car in the Florida sun for 5 days. Do you think it's baked enough to work with, or should I wait another week or two?
I'm replacing a current Remington 700 trigger with a Timney. What part of the stock do you have to alter to get it in and functioning? Does anyone have a picture of the altered area?
I just transfered my Rem. 700 aac-sd barreled action into a Rem. take-off laminated wood varmint stock. The barrel to channel fit is in perfect contact down its entire length. I need to open it up.How much clearance is acceptable to free float the barrel. I'm making brass pillars out of plumbing...
I've checked various bedding tutorials but one point hasn't been answered. When bedding a Remington action ( which is round)with the pillars attached, how do you keep the action square in the stock? The pillar holes are oversize. The area around the action is clearanced. The barrel is wrapped...
Has anyone stripped a Boyds Tacticool stock and refinished the laminations in a stain or natural color? I called Boyds and they said the plys are 1/16". I like the stock shape but would prefer a laminated wood look. BTW.I picked up a "second" to practice my bedding technique before tackling my...
I just spotted $69 Boyds CZ 452 Tacticool seconds available. I know a bunch of you guys have been waiting for these. Order quickly. I just ordered mine to practice my pillar and glass bedding. My factory wood is so nice I don't want to booger it.
Why no love of laminated wood stocks on this forum? I needed a replacement for my gumby hogue stock on my new AAC-SD. I bought a take off Rem. laminated varmint stock from the classifieds. I absolutely love it. I fits me well. Next is pillar and action bedding. I know I'm a newbie with a...
My CZ 453 .22lr Varmint just came in. It has a beautiful stock with tiger stripe wood grain. The factory single set trigger is 3 lbs. primary and 1 lb 4 oz.set. The factory barrel is 20.9 in. My question is: What length should I have the barrel cut to before threading?
Which version of the CZ .22LR, 452 or 453 has better bedding? Somewhere I read that the set trigger model 253, has 2 action screws. If true, does it more stable when bedded with a free floating barrel?
I have an old excellent shape Ruger M77 in.35 Whelen. Would it be worth putting a new precision .30'06 barrel in 5R rifling on this action? Would it fit the bill of all the new trendy .308? It sits in a very nice HS Precision stock. FYI: I have a great M1 Garand in 30'06 that it would...
I have an almost new Ruger M77 .35 Whelen. Would it be worth putting a new precision 30'06 barrel in 5R rifling on this action. Would it fit the bill of all the new .308 trendy rifles? It sits in a very nice HS stock. Is the Ruger action accurate enough to put money into?
