I was goofing around with my camera last night and wanted to see if I could make a passable Youtube video. I just picked up one of these Lee Zip Trim setups a couple weeks ago and figured it would be a good subject. They are cheap and simple. Not as fast as a Gracie or Giraud, but for a couple...
I haven't been nearly as vigilant in labeling my pistol brass for number of times fired as I do for my rifle brass. In all truth, I haven't been as vigilant about my bulk (blasting).223 and 5.56 brass either as I pick up quite a bit, in addition to my own. I clean it all and handle it / inspect...
How much case body to chamber clearance is suggested for a tactical (going to get dirty) rifle? How much case neck to chamber clearance? How loose should it be for reliability? How tight should it be for accuracy? 0.008"? 0.005"? 0.003"? other??? Thanks in advance, Kyle
not sure how many thousands of times this has been discussed but i couldn't find it in the piece of shit search feature. how many of you guys check concentricity of your case and the runout of your loaded round? what effects and at what run out do you see the effects or does it really matter.
Folks, My old Midway case cleaner model 6029 bit the dust. It was a pretty big unit some I'm looking at the Dillon CV 2001. Has anybody used the Dillon? Should I look somewhere else? Thanks, Ed
Wondering what you guys like for manual case trimmers. Have been using a Lee shell holder locked in a hand drill for a long time and am now looking for something dedicated, but unwilling to spend the $150+ on electronic models. Any recommendations as to which brand makes the best hand-cranked...
I just got a dillion case gauge and started to measure some of the cases i had already sized. they seem to be just over the maximum. My question is how much is too much? I think i might have sized them just a hair too much. Do I use the gauge religiously meaning. toss it if its no go...
I was neck-sizing some Winchester .308 cases with my Lee Collet Die. Last loading session I took this die apart and cleaned it. Apparently I cleaned it so well that there was no lubrication left in the die. The collet stuck in the closed position and when I raised the ram it crushed the shoulder...
I had something strange to occur this afternoon. I have some 264WM reloads that I loaded in 1977. I was planning on shooting them to clear-out some old ammo I have laying around. I noticed they were seated to deep at the time of reloading and figured I would pull the bullets part-way with an...
just looking at the foster case trimmer, its the one you mount on a drill press is it any good i was thinking about mounting it on a small mill/drill with very fine adjustment what do you think any body got one?
just finished uniforming 500 308 primer pockets, what a ball ache. i see for trimming the guaird trimmer is the best , is they something of simmilar quality for primer pocket work? or better still does anyone make a complete auto machine for case prep , like a dillon 1050 type of thing? any ideas?
How are you guys depriming your 408 Chey-Tac brass ? I have heard of some guys just taking a punch and driving out the primer. Or are you using custom dies with a deprimer pin ?
Whats the best way to remove the lube from the case once it;s been sized? I've been wiping them with a rag but its to slow and leaves lube on the case. Has any one ran hot water over them?
Is it SOP to lubricate the inside of each case neck when pressing boat-tail bullets? Speaking of - what's your preferred method of lubricating cases in general - spray, pad, finger lube it, etc.?
Reloading for 308 in an sps-v. If the brass length is between 2.005 and 2.015 do you need to trim it to 2.005 or can you leave and just trim when over 2.015? I have been trimming to min. length every time and wondering if I could reduce my time by not trimming each time.
