Reloading - cost of entry

Can’t seem to find a factory hunting load that my 300 prc likes. How much would it cost me to get into reloading (from scratch) instead? I have once-fired brass. Need everything else, including some variations of loads to see what works.

For those who want more info, I’ve tried hornady’s 3 variations of 300 prc. It shoots 1/2MOA with match ammo. Throws the other two varieties all over the place. I need something I can hunt with, so just shooting eld-m does me no good. Berger ammo might work, but I’m starting to wonder if I could just buy reloading supplies cheaper than backordered $80/box Bergers..

I don’t shoot competition, so I don’t need to mass-produce ammo. I do shoot enough to to be confident taking down an elk at 1000 yards. Might go through 100-200 rounds a year.

Anyone had shoulder surgery?

This would be full replacement, not rotator cuff. Looks like I'm facing it before long. I'm good about this stuff, will do all the PT, so questions.

-How was the pain level?...say compare to a hip which wasnt too bad?

-Recovery time? How long to drive?

-How about impact from recoil? Judging from my hip, if you do your PT, once its all healed you should be able to return. I'll like not go higher caliber than a 300PRC/WinMag

Robber Facing 7 Yrs, Man Who Stopped him? 3.5 Yrs

Welcome to justice in the Big Apple.

1700417385568.png

The face of somebody you would want falsely imprisoning your wife and demanding money?

Witnesses and police said the chaotic ordeal began when Matthew Roesch, a 49-year-old homeless man, held the emergency gate open for a 40-year-old woman at the Midtown station.

When she tried to walk through, he blocked her way and demanded money from her, according to court documents.

“If you don’t give me a dollar, I’m going to take your purse,” Roesch said, according to police.

She refused, and Roesch began screaming at her, the complaint said.

Cops said Rote warned the panhandler to leave the woman alone — and witnesses told officers that he then whipped out a gun and yelled, “Get away from her!,” sources said.

Swapping barrels between one action

I have a 6.5CM tikka that I really like. I've got dies/brass/bullets/powder for the 6.5CM and it's a good gun for the longest ranges I can shoot where I live, so I think I'd regret selling it all. I want to start shooting 6BR for PRS, but don't want to buy another action/barrel/scope etc. My barrel is a barrel nut system, so I was thinking of just getting a 6BR barrel and swapping it on my current rig. I'd mark the timing on the barrels to keep the headspace consistent for my brass. Is there any downside to this? Anything I'm not thinking of? I probably wouldn't swap back and forth a lot, but would like to have the option to. Would it cause weird uneven wear on my bolt lugs or the action?

SOLD SOLD Accuracy International AT308 & Tangent Theta TT315M Gen3XR

Hello members of the Hide!

I’d like to offer up for sale my 18’(small firing pin)AI AT308 for sale. The rifle has a total of 350 rounds of 308 through it and while it’s a rifle of exceptional quality, I find myself not shooting it as often as I had dreamt. I also would like to offer the scope that resides on the rifle, a Tangent Theta TT315M with the Gen3XR reticle. Both rifle and scope are in near new condition as I only shoot at an indoor range and haven’t put either through any form of rigorous use.

I’d like to sell the AT308 with the following accessories: Thumbhole grips as well as factory grips, keyslot bipod adapter and BT spigot mount and picatinny adapter, LOP spacers, and one 10rd magazine. *Trade Pending

I’d like to offer the TT315M with all factory accessories, killflash, manuals, scope caps, and original box for $2800 shipped.

I know this maybe a long shot but I may be interested in trading for a nicer Over/Under as well as have been looking for a Brownells BRN-605 complete rifle or upper receiver.

Suppressors TBAC 338 Ultra G2 SR vs DA Sandman L

Has anyone had any experience with both of these suppressors? What are your thoughts? Which is better at what? Which do you prefer?

I will be shooting primarily 223 through my suppressors with some 308 mixed in occasionally. Both calibers will usually be bolt guns but will be used on an AR15 as well in 223 as well.

Here is where I’m sitting: just got approved to go pick up my DA Sandman L. Purchased this 8+ months ago and at the time was just getting into shooting more, and don’t know shit from shinola about suppressors other than the fact that I really wanted one. I like and trust my FFL dealer which is who I’m going through with all the paperwork to get the Sandman. He strongly suggested choosing either the Sandman L or an Omega 300, and I ended up going with the Sandman L… But knowing what I know now, I’m left thinking I wish I had gone with the TBAC Ultra G2 SR. TBAC wasn’t even mentioned by my FFL, for whatever reason, and I didn’t know one company from the next other than what I was reading online, which was far from strait forward, especially to someone who isn’t in the know on the subject.

So seeking opinions, comparisons, etc. Even if the TBAC is better, is it leaps and bounds better? Or do you think I would be just as happy with the Sandman L? Is there anything that I can even do about it at this point anyway now that it’s been approved by the ATF? Or do I have some means of selling the Sandman L still since I haven’t picked it up yet? If I can sell the sandman, would I loose my tax stamp, or could I still use the same one when going to get a TBAC Ultra? Is there any way to attach a TBAC Ultra to a DA Keymo break? I know TBAC has some kind of adapter to fit different kinds of breaks other than the specific one it was designed for, but that’s the extent of my knowledge regarding that. My biggest worry is that I’ll get all my guns set up with DA Keymo breaks only to find myself switching to the TBAC dowm the line, and then having to re fit all my guns with TBAC breaks, leaving me with one hell of an expensive paper weight.

Thanks in advance for any info provided. It’s much appreciated!

Gee, why does he not appear on Wiki?

GO LOOK FOR YOURSELF.

1/2 MOA at 100 yards, all day, every day!

Now that I have your attention, how? What does it take to produce 1/2 MOA(ish) groups on demand? Is it even possible with 22LR and if so, with what caveats?

There are enough 6x5 averages posted in the 1/2 MOA range that it can't be a statistical anomaly. There are some extremely skilled shooters on this forum with the best available equipment. Personally, I consider myself a mechanically good shooter with good equipment. I would guess I'm capable of holding sub 1/8" MOA from a bench or prone with a bipod and squishing rear bag. I shoot a V-22 with 18" Bartlein MTU barrel. During ammo testing I averaged 0.905 MOA at 104 yards over 10x 10 shot groups with the best lot of Lapua X-Act. I had a calibrated wind flag at 50 yards and tried to fire all shots with less than 2.5 - 3 mph crosswind. I'm admittedly a novice with reading wind. I made no effort to compensate for wind during these groups.

For those that have posted averages in the 1/2 MOA range, could you do so on any day, or were those days "special"? Could you do so throughout the day, on any "average" day, or were those groups shot on the one day every 3 years where there is no wind between 6:45 and 7am? Are you shooting indoors? Are you talanted enough to shoot 1/2 MOA in variable winds without flags? I would like to believe it's possible but rare.

My perception is it takes a lot of ammo well matched to the gun, with either an exceptionally good shooter compensating for wind, or exceptionally good conditions. If I were to offer a $100k bet for you could show up at my range tomorrow, regardless of conditions, and produce 10x 10 shoot groups with a sub-1/2 MOA average, would anyone be interested and how would they approach it? What does it take to go from 1 MOA to 1/2 MOA groups (consistantly)?

For anyone curious, here are my results from X-Act testing along with my best target.

This is my best group from the session. Excluding the high right shot, it is 0.485 MOA. As a point of reference, a 1mph change in crosswind component accounts for 1/2" deviation in that shot.
