Nylon String?

I know I am geeking out on some stupid stuff, but I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on the different types of nylon string and why one would be better than the other.

Last year when I grew my tomatoes I used some mason's string from the local hardware store. There was a lot that I like about it but other things that I didn't. The main thing that I did not like was tying knots was a pain. It would unravel the knot and more or less was 'resistant' to holding a knot. It seemed like it was a bit 'stiffer' than the old trotline string I used to use as a kid.

Of course as I practiced my googlefu I now have more questions than answers. People are talking about tarred lines and bank lines and all sorts of stuff.

Also just in case you were wondering, I am not interested in jute or cotton butcher's twine. I want to use a stronger line that can hold up much better to the elements.

The only other criteria I have is that the diameter of the string needs to allow me to use tomato clips on it.

Maggie’s Lotta Hoopla about oil production in USA.

What they fail to mention is that those wells were probably drilled Pre-O. The point is, no drilling has been going on since, and though those wells are producing they will run dry, they aren't bottomless.
It's fkd up the way they are touting that! Almost all of our strategic reserve is gone and bo drilling is happening. It takes YEARS between wells drilled, pipelines built and production. I wish I could convey the urgency!!

Did Lapua just discontinue 6.5 CM Small Primer Brass?

Hey boys,

Just had something weird happen today. I just bought my first 6.5CM, and I ordered 200 pieces of Lapua small primer brass from EuroOptics yesterday to start reloading, and I got an email from Euro today stating that this brass has been discontinued…..

My brass is on the way, but I called Euro and they don’t have any idea why Lapua discontinued it….

I hate that I spent 233 dollars on brass that’s obsolete….anyone here have any leads on what’s going on with Lapua?

Thanks!

nuc danger?

hope this is just some saber rattling but i am sure it was cleared "at the highest level". no real winners in a nuc exchange. my fear (1) is that with the condition of our military it wouldn't even be an "exchange". if the unthinkable were to happen, china would stay out of it and take taiwan, western pacific and most of SE asia at little cost. india would stay clear,NoK would trash SoK again. israel would be over run. so would what is left of No america and western europe. my fear is that our warmongers in DC would see some threat to their game and try some destined to lose preemptive try.

SOLD OG Surgeon 591 SA w/ free barrel

I have an OG Surgeon 591 SA with a “C” prefix serial back when Wade was still making them in Prague, OK. I bought this new back in 2012-ish time period. Jon Beanland chambered and fitted the barrel. It’s a bartlein M24 or MTU at 24” in 6.5x47L. The barrel is threaded 5/8x24. According to my log book, the barrel has 1524 rounds on it. It still shoots .3MOA or better at 100yds with Berger 130 OTM’s. It should shoot to 3000-ish rounds or more before it takes a shit. It has a brand new set of trigger pins in it. This action is used. It has cosmetic blemishes. Make sure you understand that. A fresh cerakote and it would look new again (if that shit matters to you).

Im pricing this at an amount that is giving the barrel to you for free incase this is a caliber that you don’t want/need.

I’ll also include a Surgeon action wrench.

Price: $1225 shipped to your FFL.
PayPal F&F, Venmo, MO, or check.

In another thread, I have some Lapua brass for sale that can be sized back up to 6.5x47L if you need it. No, I won’t give it to you for free.

Indiana takes child out of home permanently for parents using wrong pronouns

https://www.foxnews.com/media/india...me-improper-pronoun-usage-can-happen-anywhere

No allegations of child abuse, state court ruled they were fit parents but agreeing with him be transgender was enough to give him to a foster home, the appellate court agreed. I would still obviously be horrified if it was California but wouldn’t be suprised, but Indiana? We might be pretty much done.

First time prairie dog hunting

As the topic says, first time. I've read a bit, but it tends to come from either the centerfire crowd or the air rifle crowd - am more interested in those that hunt and put less emphasis on the specific tool.

My plan is a few workhorse ARs in 556 and a 22 air rifle and a 243AI for long, long pokes on dogs? I have a 6.5 grendel that could make the trip, if warranted - and could pivot to a whole new arsenal if there is some big aspect of this not yet considered. I am planning so scope up my ARs for this, and take rifles with 16+ inch barrerls - all suppressed.

The hunt will be late summer with a small group of friends, and none of us have hunted prairie dogs before, though all of us have hunted far larger prey on multiple continents.

Suggestions welcomed - preferably from people that have experience in prairie dog hunting.

What barrel profiles do you use?

Hello,

I am going to be placing a new bulk order for some barrel blanks from mullerworks.

I really have had great consistent results from his barrels over the years and I am judging interest in what people want in what profiles and what calibers people want more availability of. Obviously 6 and 6.5 are the majority in our world but is there interest in seeing more 22 and 30 or 338 available.

Main actions I will be building my house barreled actions on are going to be ARC Coup De Grace, Kelbly Prometheus and Terminus. I have a good relationship with Ted, Jim and Joel and they make great consistent stuff.

Going to launch my website geared towards what we all love to do and any advise on what you want to see people carry more of would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your time.

If you plan to run a business and represent it here on the Hide then you will need to upgrade your account to a Commercial account.

Why Gravity Ballistics?

Answers are only answers because of questions. Solutions are only solutions because of problems.

As precision long range rifle instructors, our problem was a full line of students each with his or her own rifle, caliber, and numerous parameters and cartridges all flying at different speeds at different weights with different characteristics.

IMG_0700-1440x1080.jpg

We needed an expedient means of providing the student with a solution for the next yard line’s data based upon his impact at the last yard line.  Otherwise, the student spent valuable instruction time staring at any one of a number of ballistic apps instead of concentrating and being in the instruction moment that they paid for.  Walking a line of 16 students out to 1000 yards efficiently, predictably, and with waterline hits requires time, so we needed to be much more efficient in terms of time and in terms of conserving the...

AZ man punches a pedophile

An AZ man punched another man several times for touching his niece and goddaughter.

Then the police show up - mace some young teens and beat hero uncle into a coma and file several false charges against him .

I could understand if they “had to “ arrest him as to the assault complaint. Cause they “have to” do their job when they feel like it . But now actively taking retaliation on behalf of pedos. This makes me think we will never get to the bottom of Epstines client list .

SOLD Price Drop: Rem 700 AAC-SD .308 1:10 twist. Proof stock, Timney, etc.

I put this rifle together to get into long range shooting a few years ago and it shoots very well. Estimated round count is 850-1000.

Rem 700 AAC-SD .308, 1:10 twist, 20 inch barrel, factory threaded for brake/can. Had it in a McCrees Precision chassis for a while but when I got into 6.5 CM I converted this rifle to a handy woods gun for deer, etc. would make a great truck/ranch rifle. Or rebarrel with a ultralight barrel for a sweet mountain rifle or to get a young hunter/shooter started! With the PROOF carbon fiber Mountain Hunter stock, It weighs right at 10lb with a steel, Nomad-30 suppressor(not included) and stock pack(included) with ammo(not included), a bit under 9 lbs without can/pack. I can get closer weight if needed. Can't find the factory muzzle, thread protector at the moment so I can include a three prong flash hider and mail the thread protector later if it turns up. Stock has adjustable aluminum pillars and needs some tweaking as certain rounds do not feed consistently. I have been meaning to adjust it but have been on a bow hunting and single shot kick lately and hadn't gotten around to it.

Moving this rifle to fund another project. Not looking to part it out at this point. Thanks for looking!

What I paid:

Rem 700 AAC-SD .308
$692

PROOF light weight mountain hunter stock

Vortex viper pst 4-16x50

$109

Seekins low rings

Jewell trigger
$215

Triad tactical stock pack
$50

Professional-amateur, flat, Krylon, rattlecan paint-job... Priceless

Grand total of around $2800 if you were to build it today at retail, not including what I spent on shipping and tax for components.
