I've found the topic of shooting sports and firearms as a hobby a polarizing subject socially and especially in the workplace. I used to be very cautious about mentioning that I engaged in shooting sports or even owned firearms because I've usually worked in environments that were overwhelmingly progressive and liberal. Coworkers were very vocal about being anti-conservative or anti-gun. I've reached the point where I hit the fuck it button and don't care anymore. When I joined my current employer my boss asked me to write an intro email they could send out and mention family, hobbies, and experience. I stated that I participated in PRS competitions, and it was removed by my boss's boss. When I confronted them about it they told me activities involving guns are not appropriate for a professional environment. TL;DR version, I nearly got fired in my first week when I provided a retort.

I took the wife out shooting yesterday at our local range. Started with my grandfather's old Belgium browning nomad then her g43x. Handguns arnt her strong suit so we moved to my new bergara b14 ridge sp in 223. After zeroing the optic I let her have a go on some steel at 100. Then 400 yards. Well, the bug bite her and now she wants her own gun. My question for you guys is This, she likes 223, so what would you recommend for a bolt gun that will shoot the heavier bullets that has some aftermarket stock and trigger support?
So far I see Ruger ranch or predator, rem 700 sps 16.5" and the bergara if theres any left when we decide on gun.
I think she's open to bigger calibers so those options are covered (hmr, ctr..etc)
Needs to be threaded or have enough meat to be threaded.

I‘ve had my Uintah Precision UP-10 in 308 for a year, and have been pleased with how it has performed so far. As this is my first bolt action rifle, my frame of reference is limited to what I have read regarding other rifles. I know that Uintah Precision isn’t as popular as maybe Tikka or AI, but I’m curious to know why not.

Like I said, we shoot out to 1600 on occasion, usually much closer like offhand out to 700 yards on 1 moa targets. Again, keep in mind ye ol boomers that I’m not trying to match your internet exploits or anything like that, just a new guy working hard and having fun with what I got.

If you have done better please offer up advice and stories so I can become much better.

Buddy moved to Fla and asked me to 'watch' his Rem 783. Wife sold pretty much everything he left behind so it was a good idea.

Now he wants it back. Since it's his, I'm not transferring ownership.

I *think* I can send it USPS and not get in trouble, but I'd rather ask and make sure. All the results that come up are assuming I'm selling a firearm to someone else, but nothing comes up about sending the owner back his rifle.

I have problems with calibrating the base of the 223REM Lapua brass, 6× and 15× fired.

The base of the brass is so tough or big, that it is very hard to size it with my Whidden bushing Full Length sizing die. Some of the brass even stuck in my die !!
No matter how much lube (RCBS or Redding BIO) I put on the brass. Brass was allways annealed. And I allways measure shoulder bump and the brass was never too much sized. But I cant measure base of the brass very accurately.

So I want to throw brass away, but I tested one more thing: I very lightly polished my base of the brass, and now the sizing proces was smooth like normal.

I observed this with the 2 different LOT-s of Lapua brass. In one LOT it was this phenomen at 15× firing, and with other LOT was this at 6× firing.

Is this caused because of hot load, or too big chamber, or bad die...? My loads are usualy with 95gr Sierra at 2750fps with Vihtavuori N140...
