Long term inflation, how much?

I just went looking specifically for a shrimp mornay recipe from TGIF Fridays that I used to love during my college days (1977 or so). And just found a 1980 menu from TGIF Fridays.

I used to go there while in college once or every other month (as often as I could afford it). The Shrimp Mornay was $6.95 then. Back in the day - same menu, a bacon rapped beef tenderloin at Friday's, with a mushroom and wine reduction was $8.95. The price today would be (estimated) around 45-55 dollars - say $50.

So, the percentage increase for that tenderloin since then has been 458 percent! But that is nothing compared to1965 when I was paying 25 cents a gallon for premium. Now it's 3.99 here in FL, That's a 1,436% increase!!!

I always thought that as technology advanced that things would get cheaper. Boy, was I wrong!

Rantings of a lunatic....or audiophile ?

Just working on a new project that I probably shouldn't be, but fuck it, I'm doing it anyway.

It all started because I needed to put in a back-up camera in my truck because I can't turn my head so easily these days to see what's in my blind spots....and shit.
So, I got a Kenwood Excelon DMX709S head unit and installed it, it's capable of running 3 separate camera inputs.
It's also very high powered and let me know right away that my existing speakers, well, sucked the drippings from a decayed donkey dick.
So then, shopping my ass off found a set of Morel Virtus component speakers for the front (no, not the "nano" flat ones, the real Morel MW classic drivers made in Israel).
Those speakers should be arriving tomorrow.
Been spending an hour or two here and there getting everything sound dampened.....crazy amounts of it.
I found some Siless branded shit on Scamazon for pretty much dirt cheap and bought about 90 sq ft of both 50 and 80 mil (1 box of each) for right at $100.
The same in Dynamat would have cost an easy $500 so it was a no brainer.....but it's made in Kazakhstan ? WTF, never seen anything made there...whatever.
After probably 4-5 hours of installing the damping shit....well, I have the drivers door done.
No kidding, it's a very time consuming thing to do.
I'm not going to rush this, it will be a flawless install by the time I'm done....whenever that is.

I've installed a flush mounted USB port from the head unit so I don't have a dangling cord to either connect my cellphone to for Android Auto/Nav, or use for a jump drive filled with audio files.
I updated the firmware and software in the head unit.
I installed the Sirius/XM unit that mates with the head unit but don't know if I'll get the activation for it, whatever, it's installed and working.

I'd like to get a class A/B 4 channel amp to use 2 channels for the Morels and bridge the 2 rears for a sub.
JL Audio no longer makes a class A/B that I can find (they were outstanding amps as I've had a 300/4 back in the day) so, well, fuck JL I guess.
What I'm currently looking at is *maybe* Zapco, the Morel 4 channel, Mosconi (?), or something similar in class A/B 4 channel with ~about~ 70-100 watts RMS @ 4 ohms for the fronts and ~about~ 200 watts RMS bridged for the sub.
Will be building my own sub box and am thinking about 2 of the Dayton 7" "Epique" drivers wired to a 4 ohm load.
Since those are dual voice coil with each coil 4 ohm I'll be able to wire them to 8, 4, or 1 ohm load on the amp....I might be able to even get a 2 ohm if I get sneaky.

Anyone have any input on a GOOD 4 channel amp that's class AB, doesn't cost a bazillion bucks, sounds good, and isn't some whimpy "mini" amp with those cheezy snap in connections ?
Because class D amps sound like ass IMHO, no headroom, no dynamics, not worthy of being in my vehicular escape mechanism.

Anyone ever see precision rifle with cooling fins

not selling just sharing what I have and trying to locate any other info on it

back story on this rifle…

There were 12 of these made commissioned for Macdill SOCOM in Tampa by Aurora Arms chambered in 308 in 2011. They made 3 with this cooling vent Barrel for testing with a Bushnell HDMR Tremor2 FF 3.5 - 21X60 w badger USMC rings. The cooling fins also lightened the barrel and helped with harmonics. In the end the Marines opted for the multi caliber rifle. Anyone else ever see a precision rifle make with cooling vents? Oh and I love the Marine math in log book

make me a pro shooter, help needed lol

landed in the point of my life where i can invest "somewhat heavily" both time & money into pursuing a passion
i want to push into the ranks of PRS/NRL22 as a top contender, gotta register for both obviously

shooting background: USMC STA plt '02-'06, PRS/NRL22 19-now, prs centerfire 22/23 so shooting fundamentals and positions aren't new to me tho execution of such...well...
I now have access to a "local" range (1hr away) but can only shoot steel twice a month (scheduled practice/match days), i was asked to be a match director for this clubs up and coming rimfire PRS style shooting. so i have access to the range whenever and the Cof i can create, as well as use entry fee money from matches to re-invest into the club for props/targets.
i use my favorite range (3 hours away) about once a month/every other month (gunline shooting- MS) great place. they have steel and amazing people!

my current setup
vudoo gen2 24" MTU
McMillian A4 stock (clone-ish of my service rifle)
Harris bipod *swivel w/ pod-lock
9mm local made suppressor (looks mostly i have a .22 can as well but the 9mm one just looks right)
gen3 razor mil/mil

i was running a foundation genesis but felt that it was to thick for me around the grip and fore end. and also was having issues with mindset (centerfire matches mostly), hince why i went to the McMillian. if every target was a bad guy it seemed to make sense in my head. However as i make this transition of time/money investment into practice and practical application of rising in the sport i feel that some of my kit needs to be refined, with .22 i don't feel the i'm that far off with mindset hurdles that happens with centerfire dunno why (TBI/ PTSD its something real that happens and don't understand it) i'm looking for help.

bought dryfire lens and the screen (yes a dot on the wall would have worked) so starting to implement that daily into my routine, normal live fire shooting schedule is 2nd Sat/month is open practice steel targets as far out as i want to go, 4th Sun/month Local match (mostly NRL22 CoF plus whatever i want to add, glory of being a MD i guess) and any other matches from neighboring clubs within about a 4 hour radius currently (south Louisiana)

it may be as simple as balancing my rig and putting an arca rail on it. tho might need to ditch it all and start over with full customizable chassis/barrel length the whole 9 yards.

things i feel should look into:
*suppressor vs tuner vs slick
*ammo - run CX and SK rifle match ( lot testing or off the shelf - see above tuner?)
*barrel length (seen the YT video cutting down a 4ft .22 barrel)
*chassis/stock options
*professional coaching

In a true assessment of my shooting skills (.22 only - i shit the bed centerfire) i would put myself mid/upper mid. lots of top 10, few smaller matches 1st place and a handful of 2nd/3rds. Strong base but tons of room to improve

I'm sure this is gonna get flames and all that normal internet crap but at the same time posting this in a way starts my accountability on this journey.
Are you a higher tier shooter / shooting coach / shooting industry personality ? would love to hear from you and maybe steal some of your knowledge post here or feel free to DM me.
Stupid comments need not apply
Thanks,
Cody

*i will use this page also as a blog of types, updates, triumphs and challenges that i encounter along the way*

Feedback Stay away from buying from Tbassel12

Tbassel12 ripped me off on some reloading blocks I bought from him. I found him on Facebook and messaged back and forth and he swore to me that he was shipping them and if I didn’t get them he would refund my money. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave him a month to deliver on his promise now he won’t respond to me at all. He’s not the type of person I want on snipers hide.

Looking for Help: POI Shifts

Hey folks!

Having some POI/Grouping issues with a rifle ive never had issues with...

6.5PRC
Defiance Anti Action
CF Bartlein Barrel - round count ~700
XLR Envy Pro Chassis
Kahles 525i

The above rifle consistantly shoots 1/2" 5 shot groups. After a PRS match i decided to clean it as i was getting some decreased velocity numbers (around 50 fps slower @ 2950fps) and was hoping there was just some build up in the chamber. I cleaned it and the barrel all the way down to white patches.

Additionally, I changed muzzle devices from the TBAC Ultra 7 to the 419 Hellfire.

When I took it to the range I noticed the gun was not grouping after 20 rounds. I thought this was excessive so I checked my action screws and bases. I shot 40 more rounds, and the gun still was not grouping. FPS was normal @ 2944

I took the gun home and double checked my ammo lot numbers, pulled the action and re-set the action in the chassis.

I took the gun back to the range and shot a 1" 5 shot group with a POI 1 inch high from my aiming point. As I took shots 6-10 I noticed the group expand to 2 inches with all of the shots low 1" of aiming point. My imediate thought was that the gun must be hot for shots 6-10 so i shouldent expect much more out of it.

To verify, I let the gun cool down and shot another 5 shot group. This time, the POI was 1" low of aiming point. Shots 6-10 were dispursed 1-2" low.

I let the gun cool down again and shot a 5 shot group. This time the POI was 5" low of aiming point.

I let the gun cool down again and shot a 3 shot group.... 3" low.

I packed up my stuff and went home.

Any advise from the pros out there would be greatly appreciated.

Louisiana farmer facing economic hit after social media post touted his Catholic faith, called out Pride month

Owner of the Backwater Foei Gras farmstead, Ross McKnight, has lost two-thirds of his restaurant business after he made an Instagram post commemorating the Catholic celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, leaving his "tiny" family-owned farm under intense economic pressure. In the post, he referred to the "attempted coup of the month," referring to Pride Month. He then suggested "some antidotes to a false pride."

Powder giving slower MV

I'm having some strange results with H4895
I'm loading in my 223 behind a 75gr ELD-M.
My initial ladder test in .1gr increments was;
23.2. 2860
23.3 2880
23.4 2875
23.5 2925
23.6 2905
23.7 2944
23.8 2923
23.9 2962
24.0 2954
24.1 2977

pretty erratic numbers, but i loaded up 23.6 just to see what it'd give me and the mv was 2864fps avg after 5 rounds?????

I loaded some 308 at the same time with the same powder and it gave me the exact mv that it normally does.

So why is the 223 being so weird?

I filled up the hopper on my Chargemaster lite at the start of the week and i've been working with it all week, however i've let it sit in the hopper. I cover it with a blanket and the lid is securely on, as well as the plug fitted over the dropper tube. Whilst i can't say its 100% sealed from the environment, it's not been in the open and the lid has a fairly decent seal.

I can't figure out what's going on? Why are my figures so random for the 223?

The Nixon Kennedy Debate

Whey the fuck am I bringing this up?

Watch a few minutes of each on speaking. Dont think politics, or families, just look at the men and how they conducted themselves. With dignity and respect. Both of these men served in WWII, 'signed that blank check'. They were Americans. There would never be any question of selling out, they were Americans. Yeah, Nixon opened trade with the Chicoms, but I think the intent was to use trade as a way spread democracy. So far that hasnt worked out to well.

Now think of whats up there today.

Which brings me to finally understand what troubles me about Trump. Im not condemning him, just expressing a thought.

Aside from vacations, maybe a hobby, and family, I want a president who spends near 100% of his time governing, not being involved in little tweeting matches, and making up names for every body. Thats forth grade stuff. You only have so much time and energy in a day. If you spend 40% of that energy and time on chickenshit little battles with chickenshit little people, then youre cheating the people and the country. I thnk that if he'd just kept his mouf shut more, and tended to being president with that energy he would have accomplished a lot more.

YMMV

New California Law Will Base Electricity Bills on Income Level

Communist leader Karl Marx
“From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

A new law in California will force those who make more money to pay more for their electricity.

Under the new rules, higher-income earners will pay seven times more than low-income earners.

The Surprising #1 Reason People Are Asking A Faith-Based Company To Help Them Back Their Retirement Accounts With Gold
CNET reported:

If you live in California, how much you pay for electricity will soon be tied to much you earn. A state law passed last summer requires the California Public Utilities Commission, or CPUC, to approve a pricing structure that incorporates a flat fee with a sliding scale based on income.
Currently, Californians pay for the energy they use and the cost of upgrading the grid, settling lawsuits related to wildfires and providing assistance to low-income customers is built into the per-kilowatt-hour price.
Under the new system, however, funds for these programs would come from “income-graduated fixed charges.”
It’s an unprecedented move: In an April blog post, energy economist Ahmad Faruqui said more than 170 investor-owned utilities nationwide incorporate a fixed rate — the median being $10 and the highest $40.
None has an income-based component.
Earlier this year, The Gateway Pundit reported that California electric companies proposed fixed-rate bills based on income.

Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric, and San Diego Gas & Electric proposed a plan to charge customers based on income, not usage.

This was based on a new assembly bill that requires ‘simpler’ electricity bills.

Customers will see the new changes starting in 2025.

Hello. I'm new to the site and new to the world of shooting.
Looking for some advice on a rifle that can be purchased on a budget of around $900.
I don't know the details, but narrowed it down to .308 Win and looking on the internet I found Bergara and Howa in the affordable price. I don't see many reviews about Howa rifles, but do they have a good reputation? Would bergara perform better than Howa? I'd love to hear your options between these two as well as any pros/cons you've experienced with them. Thank you so much!
