Wee Todd Question of da week

So I decided to take in a little gun porn and went to GAP's website . I peruse , deerool and got wet over the M40 A5 .
So's I gits to checking out the appropriate scope for said
Boner Factory and ok . Schmidt and Bender 3-12 Police . It's Mildot .
Ok so to qualify . The Tier Potatao in my Avatar description is not a joke . My limited experience with optics has been Mil dash . I find them crisper . I zero to frame my POA between horizontal and vertical stadia . It gives me two points of reference . Mildot seems less accurate as I envision placing said dot over the POA .
What am I missing . Is my assumption wrong .
Yes this is the proper place on the Hide to ask this as I welcome the Bitch slapping and legit answers . I will pay extra for genital torture .
Seriously , school me .

McMillian A3

I was in a lgs yesterday and ran across a McMillian A3. It's green. It's real heavy so I assume it's sniper fill. It has an external adjustable cheek riser like you see on the A4. It is in new condition.
The guy said $700. What would it cost me to have it inlet for bottom metal and m40 barrel contour? Just trying to decide if I should grab it.
I tried to call GAP and even McMillian but I can't get anyone on the phone. I told the guy I'd let him know tomorrow.
What do you guys think?

Poplar, Can ya Burn It for Heat?

Had an “Older” Timer tell me some years back that you can burn Poplar wood for heat. Well, I was always raised that you don’t burn it for heat. Am I mistaken here? I have 4 good sized Poplar trees that I’ll be dropping once the snow clears. Can I burn it for heat in the house next season or should I just drag it over to the burn pit? Probably about 3/4” Cord worth of wood once I’m done topping, limbing, and get to bucking.

Bullet runout worse by using an expander mandrel?

First things first: Not a native American, so please excuse any wrongly used words or terms.

My process of reloading .308 Win included (but is not limited to) running the case through my Triebel BR neck sizing die with the expander ball included. This turned out to have an average runout of around 3-5/1000. Of course I thought that this could definitely get better so I watched some videos where they introduced something to me that was praised as the ultimate runout neutralizer: an expanding mandrel.

Quick I went and bought one online, namely this Wilson expanding die.

When I removed the expander ball from my neck sizing die and used the Wilson die afterwards I was curious and checked the runout. It went from an average of 4/1000 to a nice and smooth 75-100/1000.

How on earth could this happen? Did I buy something wrong? I always thought that expanding from above instead of pulling apart the case when expanding is the way to go.

Ukraine war to end soon!

I knew he was guilty…..the international court just put an end to the war!

What a fucking joke!

Sound deadening shooting box?

I'm trying to come up with ideas to deaden the sound of my test shots in my basement range. I'm thinking of constructing a really basic box. Something along the lines of an OSB box 24" by 48" and lined with insulation. Maybe the end closed down to 18"x18". Essentially, you put your firearm into it, sight down it to your target, and the insulated box deadens the blast. Or at least that's the idea. It certainly wouldn't silence things but I think it might muffle 22LR-? to a fair degree. Not every gun is suitable for a suppressor and this is just an idea that I thought might help lower the noise a bit.
Has anyone else thought of or tried something like this? Or is this just a waste of time?

Warning, Phishing site mimicking Gunbroker.

There is a phishing site using Gunbroker. Not me, but our son got an email from a “gunbroker Look-a-like” site trying to get his credit card information.

If you get something from an account you may have with Gunbroker, be very careful

(He did not fall for it but it was close, only a double check with the Gunbroker site confirmed there was a problem.)

SOLD Gunwerks Clymr 7SAUM

Gunwerks Clymr chambered in 7SAUM. Stainless action, 20” carbon barrel, trigger tech trigger, 13.75 LOP, Gunwerks hinged floorplate bottom metal, 20 MOA rail. The bare rifle weighs 6lbs 4ozs. Has right about 120 rounds through it and shoots great. Have one box of loaded Gunwerks 7SAUM ammunition with the Berger 168 VLDs. Shoots their factory ammo very very well. Has been on a couple hunts so the stock has some normal signs of wear, but no major scuffs or anything. I have two clymr stocks, one in halo grey and the other in forest green (which is what I bought the rifle with). Willing to sell with either stock. It’s sitting in the forest green stock now.

Also have 418 pieces of Gunwerks 7SAUM brass (about 120 twice fired and the rest is once fired).

Whidden 7SAUM bushing dies and a couple bushings

400 Berger 168 VLD projectiles

I want to sell as a package if I can. If the buyer doesn’t want the reloading components then it will be for sale.

Been a great rifle, just with my current family and hobby situation time to spend reloading is hard to find. And my pockets aren’t deep enough to buy Gunwerks ammo all the time 😂

The rifle itself was $5400 ish when I bought it. Asking $5400 shipped for the gun, the loaded ammo, the components and dies. Or $4500 for just the rifle.

Accept Zelle or PayPal F&F (or add 3% for goods and services).

Large or small semi...

I've been toying with the idea of a "long range" semi-auto, but I'll be honest--not feeling the need to drop serious coin on a GAP or JP to get a 6.5 "done right" Thought maybe I'd do seekins or build my own (which I will most certainly F up). But since this build is mainly for PRS style 1000 yards in-- Is a 223 (aka small frame) a better choice, just suck up the inferior ballistics and spend the extra cash on range time, hookers, reloading supplies, and blow.

I've already got a bunch of long range bolt guns, so if I need the LR itch, I can scratch that with those--but a precision semi-auto, whats the thinking on a small frame 223 or similar if my limit is basically 1k distance. I was even thinking of grabbling my original 20in HBAR and slapping it onto an upper as a stopgap while waiting for a quality barrel.

I would just build an upper for my DPMS, but DPMS uppers+parts compatibility is a PITA--everyone "claims" compatibility, just like everyone "claims" a lot of shit, but in reality, I'd rather have a DPMS upper on my DPMS lower because (A) mine works and (B) the rule of large ARs is match your uppers and lowers (C) DPMS isn't selling DPMS uppers, so is what random interwebs guy selling really DPMS or just "compatible".

I think I just set the record for typing DPMS repeatedly....
