Fair Winds and Following Seas, Demo Dick.... RIP Richard Marcinko

Posted moments ago... about a guy who was controversial to be sure... but had leadership down to a science.

Adios, warrior!

Sirhr

The National Navy UDT SEAL Museum

The Museum is very saddened to learn of the passing of Richard "Dick" Marcinko. "Demo Dick" was a retired U.S. Navy SEAL commander and Vietnam War veteran. He was the first commanding officer of SEAL Team SIX.

In January 1967, Marcinko deployed to Vietnam with 2nd Platoon, SEAL Team TWO. On May 18, 1967, Marcinko led his men in an assault on Ilo Ilo Hon where they killed many Viet Cong and destroyed six of their sampans. This became known as the Navy's most successful SEAL operation in the Mekong Delta. Because of his strong leadership and great success, the North Vietnamese Army placed a bounty on his had, payable to anyone who could capture and kill him. Marcinko was never caught; he went on to be awarded the first of four Bronze Stars, as well as a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Silver Star.

After returning stateside and serving as Officer-in-Charge of 8th Platoon from Dec 1967 to June 1968, Marcinko went back to Vietnam with SEAL Team TWO. During the Tet Offensive, Marcinko ordered his platoon to assist U.S. Army Special Forces at Châu Đốc. What began as an urban street battle turned into a rescue mission of American nurses and a schoolteacher trapped in the city's church and hospital.

After completing his second tour in Vietnam and following a two-year stateside staff assignment, Marcinko was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and assigned as the Naval Attache to Cambodia in 1973. He served in Cambodia for a year and a half before returning stateside to assume command of SEAL Team TWO from 1974 to 1976.

During the Iran hostage crisis in 1979, Marcinko was one of two Navy representatives for a Joint Chiefs of Staff task force known as the Terrorist Action Team (TAT). TAT's purpose was to develop a plan to free American hostages in Iran, which ultimately culminated with Operation Eagle Claw. After this tragic failure, the Navy recognized a need for a full-time dedicated counter-terrorist team and tasked Marcinko with its design and development.

Marcinko was selected by the Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Thomas B. Hayward, as the first commanding officer of this new unit. At the time, the Navy had only two SEAL Teams. Marcinko named the unit "SEAL Team SIX" in order to fool other nations, notably the Soviet Union, into believing that the United States had at least three other SEAL Teams that they were unaware of. The creator of SEAL Team SIX, Marcinko hand-selected the Team's members from across the existing SEAL Teams and Underwater Demolition Teams, including a special counter-terrorist tactics section of SEAL Team TWO, codenamed MOB-6. SEAL Team SIX became the Navy's premier counter-terrorist and hostage rescue unit. Marcinko commanded SEAL Team SIX for three years, from August 1980 to July 1983.

Dick Marcinko played a very unique part in SEAL history, leaving a legacy like no other. “Demo Dick” is considered the United States’ premier counterterrorism operator. We send our deepest sympathies to his family, teammates, and friends.

What's the deal with Berger availability?

I am relatively new to reloading.

Began out of curiosity in Feb 2020 when (at that day) I ordered from Brownells a few boxes each of Sierra SMKs and Hornady ELDM to experiment with. I load 6.5cm. I was also able to get some powder with zero hassle from precision reloading. That lasted me a long while. Timing was aweful because withing two months reloading supplies were non existent.

I traded a buddy for some bullets he used >>> Berger >>> which I enjoyed shooting and have performed relatively well vs. the ELD and SMK (for me). But, when those ran out I come to discover Berger are virtually non-existent at retail.

For those in the game longer than I, please enlighten me....what's the deal with Berger?

1) Why do they seem multiple times less-available than any other brand? Is it really THAT much more demand or is Berger so small-time that is has SO MUCH less manufacturing capabilities? Hornady, Barnes, and Sierra pop up online often enough. And, it's not just Hybrids and not just 140gr. But also >200gr 30 cal and <110gr 6mm.

2) Was there ever a day where one could just go to a website, or walk into a store after work and grab 2 boxes of Berger bullets? Was there ever a day you didn't have to (seemingly) sit at your computer 24/7 scouring forums and Discords to "maybe" find some or trade three of something else to get 1 box of anything from Berger.

3) Would I be better served switching to another bullet where Im spending less time at the PC and more time at the range?

What are other's doing?

Well poop!!! Neighbor has COVID

And I was over there for 2.5 hours yesterday.

I think I just OD'd on zinc. I've been good at popping my supplements, a combo of zinc, quercetin (until I found it's hard on kidneys), vitamin D (like 15-20k), airborne and YouTherapy Immune+, Reservatrol. Just doubled up this morning and adding CoQ10, NAC, and Lactoferrin and I have some Black Seed Oil on order now. But I'll just keep the usual supplements going now after a boost.

Fever...well, for me yes. 98.6 (I run usually 97.2); slight headache, but no loss of smell, taste and no more than the usual aches save from busting my ass yesterday.

Going to drink plenty of water, go for my bike ride, and hope for the best. Just got over freaking bronchitis and still have that damn dry cough shit. SHIT!!!!!!!!!!

On the other hand, I'll keep a positive outlook and say if I don't get it I'm either equipped with bad ass immune system or I've already had it.

SOLD Price Drop Vudoo V-22 Gen 2, KRG Bravo, Razor GenII

**If you have been watching this listing you will see I removed the Seekins rings. I sold the scope that is pictured on this rifle with the rings, caps, bubble level. However if you want it as a package I have the exact same scope in APA rings that I will include. I am also listing this with options to part out.**

The 20" tan rifle is back up for sale!
I am the original owner of this rifle. I built it for my daughter but we never have time to shoot. As such it has less than 500 rounds down the pipe. Here are the specs:

-V-22 Gen 2 action
- VGW installed Bartlein 1-16 barrel 20" and threaded
- Timney 2 stage R-700 trigger (flat shoe)
-KRG Bravo chassis with several modifications: adjustable butt, adjustable check, minimalist spigot, extra heavy spacer(see attached pic from the order)
-Vortex Razor Gen 2 4.5-27X56 EBR-1C with Vortex flip up caps, bubble level, sunshade and box
-1 magazine included
**Bipod no longer available, I'm keeping it**
The rifle shoots excellent, I have attached some 100 yard targets the 6X5 thread (it's the target that is noted to be shot with the 20" gun not the 22"). I have the box for the barreled action from VGW, chassis, and Scope that I can include or ship them in. I am not looking to split them up right now, I would like to sell as a package. Feel free to reach out with any questions or for more pics.

059174C3-AACA-481A-A5E1-9729A4487145.png
This is basically a new rifle and in excellent condition.
**SOLD**
-$3925 shipped for the rifle , and scope as pictured
-$2350 shipped for everything less the scope
-$1875; shipped barreled action with trigger (keep in mind this is not the standard trigger that comes with a rifle from VGW, this is the Timney 2 stage which is $40 more than the 510V2 they offer at the base price)
-$1550 Razor Gen 2 with Tenebraex caps, box, but no rings
-$500 shipped for the chassis with all the accessories ($235 of additional parts come with the chassis)
*I am not willing to separate the trigger from the barreled action to just sell the trigger by itself*

If you don't want the boxes for the scope, chassis, or barreled actions I can buy an inexpensive hard case to ship them in so that may take a few days but we can work that out. I am fairly firm on the price but will accept offers, I am not really looking for trades at this time.

Please reach out with any questions or for more pics.

SOLD WWII USMC K-Bar

I was given this knife when I was 10 years old or so by an old gentleman who fought through the Pacific. I was completely convinced I would become a Marine back then, and I did as soon as I graduated highschool. He told me he carried it through his time fighting the Japanese and he wanted me to have it. It has traveled with me since. I am not a collector and it just sits with a bunch of other knives I don't use or need. I just want it to go to a good home where someone will take care of it better than I have time to.
I really don't know what a fair price is for it, to me it's priceless but that is only for the history of it. It is in pretty good condition with no real damage just some wear and light tarnish and a few spots that like to show a little rust. The sheath was coated in something to protect the leather and is cracking now but the leather is in good condition and you can see the USMC and EGA under the coating.

ARC Magazine, LRI follow, still doesn't feed worth a shit

473 bolt face (6x47, 6.5 x 47 and others). These has been in a parts box for some time because even with the replacement LRI follower, it still doesn't feed like it should.

Could someone post some pics of a working combo, and did you have to tweak the feed lips? I had 3, sold one some time ago, and would like to get these working if possible.

Thanks.

Reloading Equipment WTT Retumbo,H1000,Varget,RL33,RL16 for 7mm bullets

I am looking to trade some powder (Retumbo,H1000,Varget,RL33,RL16) for the following 7mm bullets:
  • 180 Grain Hybrid Target
  • 175 Grain Elite Hunter
Powder is new/sealed and purchased within the last 2 months.

I also have LARGE rifle/magnum primers if anyone is interested instead of powder.

Located in Tucson, but traveling to Phoenix next weekend and willing to meet up within a reasonable distance.

I am also willing to purchase the bullets outright since I know shipping will be an issue.

Please let me know what you have.

Thank you

New to the AR world

Go easy fellas I have a lot to learn. Books have been ordered but they aint here yet. Bought a new 3rd Gen Tactical brand AR in 223 Wilde a few days ago. Will be used for Varmint hunting out to 200 yds max usually at night. So far so good with load development. The best yet is 26 grains of CFE223 that shoots .495" 6 shot groups at 100yds with my varmint bullet of choice (Sierra 55gr BTHP) However it appears when I added my can it is making the brass very black now. Before with just the factory break they looked a lot cleaner. Am I to assume im overgassing now? How do I tell if I have an adjustable gas block and if I do how do I adjust it? There are two Allen head screws on the bottom of the gas block under the hand guard. Accuracy went WAY up with the can (SilencerCo Hybrid) but so did the "soot" on the brass. Come on with the comments as I know next to nothing about semi autos. I am on old school bolt gun guy.

Best flip caps for ZCO??? Recs?

Looking for flip caps for zco 527. I really like the ones for my kahles that thread on the front and have a screw clamp on the ocular. I'm not sure how that ocular on the zco handles a flip cap or how tenebrex or adamount caps attach on the ocular or the front. Would love some recs so I don't waste my money on something I won't want.

Thanks

Compact Optic for .308 Gas Gun

Hi there,
I'm searching for a rather compact scope for my AR10 with a 16" barrel.
Should be used mainly for plinking out to max. 600-800m.
I know this can be done with a 1-6 scope but I like more magnification better.

My favourite choicec are at the moment:
1, a used S&B 5-20x50 ultra short without illumination for 2000$ (private seller)
2, a new Minox ZP5 3-15x50 for 2300$ (from a official dealer)
3, a new Vortex Viper PST Gen. II 3-15x44 ffp mrad for 1250$

I know the Vortex won't be as good as the other two but the razor hd gen 2 which would be better to compare costs more than the minox here and is therefore not interesting for me.

Are the minox and the S&B worth the higher price?
