Help Identifying Remington 700 Riflesmith

I recently picked this Remington 700 rifle up at an auction. It is a custom .308 built on a 1977 vintage action. It appeared to be unfired when I received it from the seller. The workmanship on it is superb. I could not find any information on Kodiak Precision on the web. It is extremely accurate with FGMM 175s. Please let me know if you folks have any information on Kodiak Precision. Photos attached. TIA.

Police Perplexed: D.C. Carjackings Spike 111% After Lack of Prosecutions

Car theft - thief trying to break into the vehicle.

Police appear to not know why carjackings in Washington, DC, dramatically increased 111 percent in the first ten months of 2023 compared to the same time period in 2022, even though authorities refused to prosecute 67 percent of those arrested last year.
A total of 760 carjackings occurred in the first ten months of 2023 in the nation’s capital, police statistics show. During the same time period in 2022, 360 carjackings occurred.
The number of carjacking in 2023 is higher than in 2018, 2019, and 2020 combined.
Carjackings occur nearly everywhere in the District. The hot spots are near the H Street Corridor and across the Anacostia River bordering Maryland, police data shows.
Those arrested for jacking cars are primarily below 18 years of age. Sixty-five percent of those arrested are juveniles, according to police data.
U.S. Attorney for D.C. Matthew Graves suggested in August that his office would crack down on some crimes involving juveniles. His office does not generally prosecute them. According to 2022 District statistics, Graves refused to prosecute 67 percent of those arrested who could have stood trial in the D.C. Superior Court. Among juvenile crime, he refused to prosecute 26 percent, according to data obtained by the Washington Post.
President Joe Biden nominated Graves to his position in 2021, and the Senate confirmed him.
“A majority of the individuals arrested for robberies and a super majority of the individuals arrested for carjackings are juveniles,” Graves admitted. “In general, our office does not have a role in prosecuting juveniles for armed robberies, and consequently armed carjackings. We do, though, have the ability to charge 16 and 17-year-olds as adults.”
D.C. juvenile court has jurisdiction over delinquent acts, according to the District: “Delinquent acts include crimes against persons, crimes against property, drug offenses, and crimes against public order.” Prosecutors in juvenile court must file a petition to transfer juveniles to criminal court for prosecution as an adult. The U.S. Attorney’s Office then prosecutes the juveniles in the adult system from a statutory list of serious crimes.
Police say the U.S. Attorney’s Office has first right of refusal to prosecute the juveniles, Assistant Chief of the Investigative Services Bureau Carlos Heraud told reporters this week. “Every time we have a 16- or 17-year-old that’s been arrested for a carjacking or a Title 16 eligible offense, we present it to the U.S. Attorney’s Office first — give them the right to refuse before we present the case to the office of the Attorney General.”
Despite Graves’ refusal to prosecute 26 percent of juvenile crime, Heraud appeared confused about why juvenile carjackings would increase. “I think if we knew the ‘why,’ we’d be able to address this much better. We have to get in the heads of those juveniles and see: Is it social media-run? Is it a lack of consequence that’s contributing to this? Is it conversations that they’re having in school?”
On Monday, thieves carjacked Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) in Navy Yard, a community within a short walking distance of the Capitol Building.
“They came out of nowhere and they pointed guns at me. I do have a black belt, but I recognize when you got three, three guns, yeah, I looked at one with a gun another with a gun, no one behind me,” Cuellar told reporters on Tuesday. “So they said they wanted my car[.] I said, ‘Sure.’ You got to keep calm under those situations and then they took off. They recovered the car, they recovered everything.”

Carjackings are just one crime that soared this year. Overall, total violent crime increased during 2023 in the District, police data shows, up nearly 40 percent year over year.

HILARIOUS!!
FREEKIN MORONS!!

Almost lost an eye

My wife asked me to make sure her Excalibur Assassin was still sighted in. I had a new installed at the end of last season. I fired one arrow and the farking thing exploded!!!! I am pretty sure my right thumb is broken and my Oakleys have a huge scrape right in front of my left eye, deep enough I can feel it on the inside. The gadget that holds the string is gone, one of the limbs tips shattered and it bent where the limbs attach to the frame. No idea wtf happened, it has a dry fire block so definitely not that. Near as I can tell it just freaking blew up. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION!!!!

Tuner Data

Can anyone for or against Tuners please explain the data that is required that shows tuners work?
We will leave out the past 35 years of rimfire benchrest that shows every match won with a tuner versus sans tuner.
We will leave out the manufacturers who don't know how they work and make videos saying they have no idea.
Let's just look for this data issue if we can?

If someone who has never shot at a spearpoint match showed up with a tuner gun where would they need to place? 1st top 5 top 10 top 20?
Or would they need to shoot every match and win them all by 5000 points?

Is that even data?
Do they need to make a video?
What does the video need to show?

Leaving the bolt gun for a semi auto

Ok, I've decided to sell my Accuracy International AT308 for a semi auto precision rifle. I've always loved the Accuracy International rifles, they are absolutely works of art and extremely accurate but I now want a semi auto platform lighter and less expensive than the AI and was hoping for some opinions on the rifles I should be looking at. I see Wilson Combat has precision rifle offerings, any thoughts?

PRS oriented stock design

Slowly but surely developing a new carbon fiber stock design initially for rem700 clones but an small-bore version is also in the works (different tang design )that is geared toward Open PRS later other derivatives might happen as well.

Some features incorporated so far.

-low bore line
-wide forend, 66mm so as wide as 56mm optics objective
-steel RRS arca rail integrated into CF stock , both for rigidity and added weight (cca 700g of steel)
-swappable grips (can be vertical or slanted , many shapes possible)
-molded in thumb shelves
-short buttstock for possible rear weights
- 4mlock and 2 QD slots on each side

Looking for input as to what folks would like to see added to the design.

Looking at adding a forend bridge, not necessarily for NV but could also function with NV or ELR prizm
Barricade stops will of course be added but as a bolt-on add-on or part of a new bottom metal its not the part of stock itself.
Internal weights might be added to the forend .

3d printed prototype is already a bit dated as design evolved , but shows base shape well enough

What a Potent Weapon! Should I buy it to Vanquish my Enemies?

I did not know this was an option.

Screenshot_20231007-165345_Brave.jpg

I saw this on Gunbroker!!!
This weapon is truly potent! Or impotent? I don't know. It must be one of these Weapons of War.

Should I buy it to use on my enemies?

Does it affect the user or just the one the weapon is pointed at? Does merely buying it cause harm?

I am concerned, but the possibilities excite me. @sirhrmechanic and @buffalowinter for advice on old and unusual weapons.

I can think of some people I would like to "Truly Emasculate" 🤪

Something kicking off in Israel

It looks this is an unprecedented event , as besides the previously seen rocket barrages this time it seems Hamas soldiers actually on the ground in Israel taking over multiple towns and at least one military base. Israeli military and intelligence services were seemingly caught with their pants down.

But i imagine the Israeli response will be equally unprecedented.

''While the IDF is trying to deploy its forces, mobile units of Arabs have already (according to local residents) taken full control of the large city of Sderot (almost 30,000 population) and entered the southern outskirts of Ashkelon (approximately 150,000 population).

The territories that were quickly occupied are patrolled by Hamas patrols, which clear them of representatives of the Israeli security forces and military.

The population, for the most part, hides in fear at home.

The line of control on the map is not the front line. The Arabs do not have complete control in this territory.''

Super well built, the back is just the mesh so it breathes well, and on the front there is a thick fabric made for being drug across the ground. I’ve also got the construction kit for this and if you’re interested I’m sure we could agree on a price. $350 shipped for top and bottom.

I’m looking at putting together a mid weight mid recoil western hunting rifle (12-14 lbs all in) to complement a 6.5 creed lightweight rifle and a hefty 300 Norma. Might shoot it in the occasional NRL Hunter match, but I’m mostly focused on Rocky Mountain game (pronghorn, sheep/goat, muley, elk and black bear) at medium ranges (4-700 yards). I don’t really care about short action vs long action.
