Durable do-all .308 semi auto - which one to get?

I'm a novice when it comes to modern semi auto rifles. Please bear with me.

I've an old m1a that I use for hog hunting at night. It's kind of a handful to access the buttons on the digital nv scope while standing up on my feet. I imagine a modern layout with a pistol grip, a shorter overall length and perhaps slightly lower weight would help. Especially since I'm looking to get a suppressor on the rifle.

All in all I'm looking to get a new semi auto .308 (or 6,5 creedmoor - doesn't really matter) for hunting, but I'm not really finding a rifle that I feel fit my needs.

I'm in Europe, which means it's an absolute horror show to send rifles back and forth to the US for warranty repairs. The gun must run.

- warranty is no substitute for durability
- must have an 18" barrel or longer (legal)
- must be under 8,5 lbs
- must have 2 MOA accuracy with quality ammo
- must have a good solid way to mount optics, preferrably picatinny
- must be suppressor compatible
- ergonomics: must have an easy to operate safety, ambi is tolerated but not preferred.

What options do I have?

-If the SFAR would have a great reputation and track record, it would win.

-A SCAR 17s would fit the bill perfectly with a replacement 18" barrel, but the barrel alone is as much as most of the competing options.

-Most AR 308's are unknown to me. The DD5 seems great but ambi controls is really not what I'm looking for. To me those are just an extra thing to go jam up in the mud. We can get Aero precision M5E1 rifles here but I can't find the weight for the 18" listed anywhere. The more expensive AR's in 308 are generally 16" or very heavy SASS type rifles.

- I've actually warmed up to the idea of a PTR-91. Except for weight, it checks all boxes.

- I could get an M1a scout squad and trick it out with a nice pic rail mount and a schuster gas plug. But that's kind of an underwhelming option considering where I started out.

I’m looking to build a 6.5 creed NRL Hunter build that utilizes the large quantity of AW mags I already own from my AI AT and I’ve been looking at the Zeus QC and ARC CDG as the two main actions at the heart of this project. What would you go with? The ARC is less expensive but harder to swap barrels on while the Zeus has a similar QC feature to what I’m used to with my AI (and a lot more available prefits). Help is definitely appreciated!

Gas port size matters??

My build is AR-15
Barrel 20" Krieger with matching JP bolt
Gas port size .0865
GP to muzzle 6.5"
GP to chamber 13.5"
Aero precision upper & lower
Buffer weight 3oz
Basic buffer spring
BC and charging handle are from previous built
Superlative Arms adjustable gas block

It shoots but does not lock back on the last round or load the next round.

Found GP sizes online that mine seems to be smaller.

Based on your experience, is .0865 small for what I have and is the cause of the issue?

TIA

Clear image or no reticle movement?

So I went to the range today and noticed that when the image of my target was perfectly clear the reticle moved, albeit very, very slightly, when moving my head. So I settled on an out of focus image where the reticle didn't move. However I noticed that I either had an especially bad day at the range, shooting 3-4 inch groups at 100 yards from my Tikka T3x CTR with a Vortex 6-24 AMG or something about the parallax change messed me up. I ran out of ammo before I had the chance to set the image back to clear to see if that was the problem. I'm typically right around 1 inch or less groups at the same distance.

Has anyone noticed this before or have advice on this front? I've heard there were issues in the past with the AMG parallax but so far this scope has been pretty good to me but also wondering if I might have shaken something loose.

Night Vision WTS Full Power Wilcox RAPTAR

Wilcox Raptar

Mil IR laser (this thing is bright!)
Vis laser
IR illuminator
Range finger

$10k new

***SOLD FOR $5500*****shipped for you guys

Mine has a laser range finder and is NOT the lite model

This was an early (sn is 199) eye safe civilian raptar. Before the RAPTAR S came out it was just called a RAPTAR. They made them both (from my understanding) with full power IR lasers for LE and Mil and with Civilian legal IR lasers.

When they launched the S model they added the ballistic calculator.

Once the first owner had it in hand he sent it back to a Wilcox employee that updated the Firmware to unlock the full power of the laser.

That’s right. All civilian legal RAPTAR’s needed back them was a software update to make it full power.

I hear Wilcox put a stop to this employee’s actions so this can’t be done now.

Suppressors If you were a betting man... (Sierra 5 content)

The big brown truck delivered my Dead Air Sierra 5 tonight and having never been shot through, I thought it'd be worthwhile to take a good, hard look at the rear baffle and weld. Now I've read you cannot tell anything by looking at the weld on the last baffle but after taking a hard look at mine, I don't think that's the case. Pretty sure mine has a large crack that's almost half the circumference of the can. And you can see there's something there with the naked eye. Additionally, it's not "even" all the way around and there are differences in various sections of the weld that again, can be seen with the naked eye.

We'll start out with the good portion. You can see the "gold" bead which goes around the circumference of the tube/baffle. You can see, on the right side, it starts to turn blue.

Now the bad. Rotating the suppressor, you can clearly see a dark line which is a crack. Don't worry I zoom in later. This can be seen with the naked eye. You're also able to see a section where the weld bead has a texture.

Here, the crack stops at about the 2pm position.

Let's zoom in! I'll sort of work my way around the rim.

Now here's the thing...if this is indeed a failure point and it's visible to the naked eye, one could imply a number of things that potentially happened to let this suppressor, and others like it, out the door. None of them make the manufacturer or Dead Air look good.

I could be wrong. Maybe this is "normal" but I don't think so. I'm going to reach out to Dead Air and send them the photos. I'm also going to reach out to my suppressor vendor, who had this can for 250+ days, knowing the issues the can was having, and didn't at least take a look and contact Dead Air about their stock on hand. All of them should have been sent back for inspection and the vendors that carry them, should have insisted on such.

I really should have insisted as well but believed there was no way to tell if it'd fail just by looking at it. This leads me to believe differently.

I do have a video bore scope with a flexible arm and I may try to use it and see the underside of the baffle. Will report back if that works. I'll also try my standard bore scope and obtain a few images that are even more close up with a higher resolution than my digitally zoomed in iPhone pics.

Next step, I install the mounts on both rifles this'll be used on and check to make sure everything is aligned correctly.
