300 Norma Magnum Throat Erosion

Looking for some insight on 300 Norma barrel wear. I've got 381 rounds through my barrel (Bartlein 5R 1:9"), and am already seeing close to 0.050" erosion. I've shot mainly N570, some N170, and probably 40 rounds each of H1000 and StaBALL HD. I really havent been pushing it with loads either, as I've been working up to about 3100 now with a 215 Hybrid. 200 of those 381 shots were a 220 LRHT doing about 2950.

I know 300 Norma is brutal on barrels, but I sure wasn't expecting that kind of erosion. Just the way it is, or an odd barrel? No velocity or accuracy issues, so it's really not a big deal now, but I'm trying to get an early feel for how long this particular barrel might last.

Thanks!

Dead Air Nomad Ti Severe Failure

I thought I would share this experience for a couple of reasons:
1) Information for others that have or are thinking of purchasing this or similar suppressors.
2) To see if others have had this happen and what the resolution was.

For background, I have 353 rounds total through this suppressor. All of the rounds are on my Seekins Element 6.5 PRC. I am not running hot loads.

A few weeks ago I took the first shot of the day and noticed that the recoil felt stiffer than normal and also notice that the shot was louder (I was still wearing ear plugs). When I came out of the scope I noticed that my Armageddon mirage cover was blown apart. Upon further inspection, I was missing the end of the suppressor. It took me some time with a metal detector, but I located the end about 25 yards downrange.

Prior to shooting I confirmed as always that the suppressor was threaded on tightly. I use the Area419 hellfire adapter system. The bullet went through the chronograph at expected velocity and impacted the target at the expected point. There was no bullet strike to the suppressor.

I filled out a warranty request, got an automated shipping label, and shipped it out to Dead Air. To my surprise, it was shipping to Georgia instead of Utah, where Dead Air is based. Apparently their factory is in Georgia. After having no contact with anyone for most of a week after they received it, I decided to contact Dead Air. I called them multiple times, but only got a recording basically saying that you have to email them as they will not answer the phone. I emailed and did get a response back within a few hours, but really haven't been able to get any satisfactory information.

My initial email basically asked why it was sent to Georgia, what I could expect to happen, what the timeline would be, and if they would also give me a credit of some type for the mirage cover that was ruined by the suppressor failure. The response back was just a few lines that confirmed the factory was in Georgia and said they would determine if it was repairable (did not answer the questions on timeline or mirage cover). I asked what would happen if it was not repairable and the response was that they would do a destruction letter and replace it, but there would be a long tax stamp wait (nothing they can do about that). I responded asking that they make sure the e-brake and Area419 adapter were returned to me if they could not repair it. I left them installed when I shipped it to them thinking they may want to examine it in the condition it was in. I got no response so I resent an email the following day asking again for the timeline to figure out if they could repair it and asking again that they return the e-brake and adapter to me if it couldn't be repaired. I got a response that they would have a tech inspect it when they received it and determine everything from there and that he asked the techs to hold on to my other parts to return to me. This response confused me since they had already had the suppressor for several days. It seemed odd that he wouldn't know that as I included the RMA number in my first email. I responded that they had received it about a week ago and asked how long the wait would be to get it looked at. I received no response for 3 days. I emailed again with the same email yesterday and still haven't received a response.

So far I am sorry to say that I am pretty disappointed with the customer service at Dead Air. I haven't been able to actually talk to a person and have to email multiple times to get questions answered. I still don't have any timeline on when I will even find out if it is something they can fix or if they will have to do a replacement. There seems to be a disconnect between customer service and the factory since the customer service rep didn't even know they already had the suppressor back.

I use this suppressor on my hunting rifle and am really anxious for information with hunting season approaching.

I really hope Dead Air turns this situation around and that I have a positive experience to share in the end, but I am getting less hopeful of this by the day.

F#ck the NRA

Seriously, does this suprise anyone????
the NRA has taken the position (& continues to take the position) to support that the The United States Undetectable Firearms Act (UDA) of 1988 (18 U.S.C. § 922(p)) makes it illegal to manufacture, import, sell, ship, deliver, possess, transfer, or receive any firearm that is not as detectable by walk-through metal detection as a security exemplar containing 3.7 oz (105 g) of steel, or any firearm with major components that do not generate an accurate image before standard airport imaging technology. The language was additional pork in the most recent Defense Spending bill that removes an eight year sunset on the UDA and makes it permanent.

Norway missed out on the best sniper rifle in WW2

In 1938 the Norwegian Army understood that the Krag was not the action for a military sniper rifle.
Kongsberg Arms Factory bought 25 M96 Mauser actions from Sweden to build prototypes.
The M38 sniper prototype configuration is mind boggeling.

For the scoped rifle Kongsberg used an action without thumb cut to get maximum action stiffness. The 28" barrel is free floated and straight taper from 30mm at receiver to 20mm at muzzle. chambered for 6,5x55 with 1-8" twist. The stock configuration speaks for itself. Scope is 4X Carl Zeiss with BDC to 1100m in turret mounts. Trigger is tuned to 3ibs.The, unfortunatly very bad, picture is taken from the 1938-1939 yearbook of the "Shooting and Winter warfare school"

Would a clone of this rifle be legal at vintage sniper matches

The German occupation of Norway in 1940 prevented the adaptation of this clearly exellent rifle:

Stolen US Optics Scope... SCOPE HAS BEEN RECOVERED

Hi All:

Couple of weeks ago I bought an older US Optics scope through eBay. Seller is Vigilance Rifles in AZ and have been absolutely one of the best eBay sellers I've ever dealt with. Great communications, fast shipping... everything one could want.

Unfortunately, the scope made it to Fedex Warehouse in CT and has simply disappeared. Was supposed to be here almost 2 weeks ago. Numerous calls to Fedex and as of today they simply say "It's disappeared from our system and we can't find it... collect the insurance." Thanks Fedex. You continue to be useless... as always. Not to mention half your employees are thieves.

It was fully insured. And I am covered by eBay and by Credit Card Company if they fail to refund.... But the scope is a pretty unique early 5-25 Horus Reticle and I damn well wanted it for a specific rifle. And now it's disappered.

Since you guys in Sniper's Hide have had a pretty good track record finding some rare and older stuff (Rifles in particular)... I'll post here with serial number and photos. If anyone sees it (especially in CT or New England)... let me know! It's a total longshot. But maybe we can recover it. I'm sending the info to US Optics as well, in case anyone contacts them. And we'll be filing a police report with the CT State Police Troop C which covers Willington.

Here's some pictures. It is Serial Number 05-0176. Early model and one of JBW2's customs. It has a Horus Reticle.

Mississippi Inmate Who Escaped Months Before Release Gets 40 Years in Prison

https://www.breitbart.com/crime/202...d-months-before-release-gets-40-years-prison/

Shunekndrick Huffman

A man who escaped from a Mississippi prison with only a few months left before his release is headed back to prison for a long time.
When 21-year-old Shunekndrick Huffman escaped from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility on August 25, he broke into a neighbor’s house, held three individuals at gunpoint for several hours, then eventually drove off in a car belonging to one of the residents, Sky News reported Tuesday.
He later crashed the vehicle and took off on foot.
In a social media post August 25, the state’s department of corrections said officials found and captured Huffman, who was hiding in a dumpster at the Mississippi State Hospital approximately two miles away from the prison facility.
The agency noted that “Huffman was sentenced on Oct. 14, 2019, to seven years followed by three years’ probation for aggravated assault in Leake County,” noting he was scheduled for release in December.
Rankin County district attorney Bubba Bramlett said Monday a judge sentenced the man to 40 years in prison when he admitted to the kidnapping charges.
His office said in a press release Monday:

Huffman was sentenced to 30 years, with 20 years being served and the last ten suspended for one count of kidnapping. He was also sentenced to an additional 30 years, with 20 years being served and the last ten suspended for another count of kidnapping. Upon release, Huffman will be placed on five years of supervised probation. Both sentences are to run consecutive to one another.
The excellent and efficient work and cooperation of MDOC officials, state officials, the Pearl Police Department, Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, and other agencies involved in this tense manhunt led to the successful apprehension of this escaped convict.

Ever wonder if hidden in plain sight is right there at you??

Lockheed Martin is so entangled with the Alien shit that it makes me wonder, is there evidence right here at the plant hidden in plain sight? Some workers know but most are clueless.!.!.!
Just a thought and with all of this whistleblowing bullshit going on, who’s really telling the truth? If we’ve had this type of technology for a century, why haven’t we used this to our advantage globally as a super power country???
Shits just weird and these guys coming forward having some whack ass stories about exposure to US Government black ops covert teams with space ships operating human trafficking missions to ET only knows where!?!?
Distraction story????, too much info for a distraction in my opinion. Real???, no fucking telling! Area 51 and Wright Pat has some weird shit and makes you truly wonder historically, what the fuck did Hitler actually have in his and the Nazi’s possession???

Vapor lock. Different gas?

Have a couple of these old trucks, carburetor with mechanical fuel pump, seems like anymore they all want to vapor lock in the summer heat, worse if going slow or climbing hills, which is everywhere here.

So I have tried electric fuel pumps back close to the tank with some success, but this one has the pump on the side of the block.

Is the gas different and causes this now days? Or what’s the deal? Never used to have this problem in years past.
