Firearms 20” .223 Surgeon SCALPEL in AI FOLDING CHASSIS w low fire count !

I’ll be adding details soon, this rifle is awesome. It’s a Surgeon scalpel in a AI Chasis with a jewel trigger and Supressor ready brake. It has only a hundred or so rounds through it. I’m pretty sure this action was from the original SURGEON brand, before they sold out to lesser quality. I’m sure we can figure that out by looking at serial number. I’ll get more details soon and post them here. This rifle is amazing, a heartbreaking sale but it needs to go. Hope someone special gets it.

Maggie’s Moving to Minnesota:gun laws

Hey guys I’m moving to Minnesota in about 5 weeks.

Im from a very gun friendly state (KS) and was curious how bad it was up there ?

It largely won’t affect my position on moving as , from a monetary perspective very little is going to get in the way of that .

Are conceal carry permits hard to come by? Whats that process look like training time wise, cost, and likely hood of approval? Do I have to live in the state for X amount of time before I can get one ?

Will be living in the metro area south of St Paul in a nice suburb lol figured area might have an impact on the severity of oppression I’ll endure

Oldest Ammo You've Shot?

Anyone here ever shoot some really old ammo?
I've wondered about how long ammo would last since I was a kid, and have tested old stuff occasionally since then. Mostly when I find something really old, that isn't a full box or anything valuable. DoD says ammo will last over 100 years if stored in a cool, dry spot, and that matches with my experience. Really curious about what people here may have shot, how old it was, any problems, etc.
The only stuff I've come across that seems to have a problem has been paper-hulled shotgun shells, and occasionally .22 rimfire. A second strike on the rim somewhere else usually does the trick, but the paper-hulled shells seem to not keep moisture out over the long term.
The oldest I've shot was a handful of rounds of 30-06, that were about 90 years old at the time. What's yours?

Firearms Some Rifles(price drop)

Hey all,
Have a few rifles I just don't use.

1. Winchester 70 varmint made I think 1965 chambered in 225 winchester. This thing is darn near perfect except for one ding on the stock. It's just too nice that I'm not going to take it out and use it. $1300, now $1200 shipped and insured

2. Winchester 70 varmint made I think 1967 chambered in 22-250. Again darn near perfect and I have other using 22-250s. $1000 now $900 shipped and insured

3. Winchester 70 chambered in 264win mag. It's been very used. I bought it from a friend who was needing some cash. I'm not going to use it. It does what it's supposed to do. Would like $550, now $500 shipped

4. Remington 700 in 257 roberts. It's an all style rifle with a meopta straight 6 power scope on it. Would make a fantastic lightweight sheep gun or mountain got or a great antelope rifle. Would like. TRADED

5. GAP 10. GA Precison ar-10 chambered in 6mm Creedmoor. This is the Gen 1.5. I bought this on a wild hair used here on the hide but I am never going to use it. Comes with one magpul mag. $2200, now $2000 shipped and insured. SOLD

I am flexible on payment and can provide more pictures of any on request. Maybe would take a lever gun or 1911 as trade. These are shipped from me to your FFL. This is cross posted. Thanks

Egypt Tells Netflix Cleopatra Wasn’t Black: ‘Falsification of Egyptian History and a Blatant Historical Fallacy’

The Egyptian government has denounced Netflix’s upcoming docudrama series Queen Cleopatra, saying the streamer’s decision to portray the ancient queen as a black woman represents a “falsification of Egyptian history and a blatant historical fallacy.”
Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities issued a lengthy statement in a Facebook post Thursday in which it said Cleopatra had Hellenic, or Greek, features and was light-skinned, not black. The conclusion is based on artistic representations of Cleopatra as well as DNA research done on ancient Egyptian remains dating from the era.
Mostafa Waziri, who is secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said in the statement that Netflix’s show represents a “falsification of Egyptian history and a blatant historical fallacy.”
He said because the series is a documentary, Netflix needs to investigate the show’s historical accuracy.
Netflix’s Queen Cleopatra, which is executive produced by Jada Pinkett-Smith and is set to begin streaming May 10, has ignited a firestorm of debate over the decision to cast a black actress as Cleopatra. The debate has become especially intense in Egypt, where Netflix is being denounced as a historical revisionist trampling on an entire nation’s history.
An Egyptian lawmaker named Saboura al-Sayyed has reportedly even called for Netflix to be banned.
As Breitbart News reported, the online criticism has become so volatile that the streamer turned off comments on social media posts showing the trailer for the series. A Change.org petition calling for the series to be cancelled was removed without explanation.

Must-watch war movies?

Looking for recommendations on war related or themed movies to watch. Documentaries, based-on-a-true-story or historical fiction preferred. Ideally available on Amazon Prime or Netflix, as that's all I have available.

Someone in the PortaJohn thread mentioned Fury, so I checked it out. Really good movie, I thought! Then I watched Anthropoid, which was also quite good, and a couple documentaries about the Nazis and the weird shit they got up to.

What recommends The Hide?

My first custom bolt gun

Just wanted to share some pics of my first custom bolt gun.

I went with a MK13 Mod5 build but I decided to clone Chris Kyle's personal Mod5 build. From photos I could gather online he had the McCann Industry Rail on his personal one. I originally was going to go the route with the Remington MARS rail which I had one in my possession for the build but decided to go with cloning his personal rifle.

This thing has taken me YEARS! to assemble all the parts needed and get it shipped off to the smith. The suppressor sat in ATF jail for over 12 months waiting their green light and also it was with the smith for 12 months as well.

Huge THANK YOU to @LongRifles Inc. for their superb and high quality work they did with this build. Chad and his crew really are the best in the business and great customer service from them as well. Couldn't give them enough praise for their outstanding craftsmanship.

I am happy and super excited to finally have it all back together in my hands again and can't wait to take it out and dail it in. I'll post a couple pics in the thread and once I get out and run some rounds through I'll update with more photos. Hope yall like!

Cool Weapons Thread

This is a nice idea but he needed to tie all the triggers together, then load them up with 3.5" 00 buckshot. Should probably call the orthopedic surgeon before pulling the trigger.

Rifle Scopes SWFA 5-20x50 HD vs Midas TAC 6-24x50?

Anyone ever compare these two?

I have an SWFA 3-15x42 FFP that I've had a few years. I put in on an SPR-ish rifle in 5.56mm with a White Oak barrel, and I've had a lot of fun and education shooting to 600m (I haven't done as much as I'd like, but I've done more that I had...).

I have an M&P 10 that I changed to a free-float handguard and a better trigger; I'd like to take it out to 1000m. I have a hard limit of around $800. That has me looking at the SWFA 5-20x50 HD, 30mm (thanks to the SWFA sale), and the Athlon Midas TAC 6-24x56, 34mm. I'm looking for advice on this choice, or maybe another suggestion at this price point.

I almost just bought another 3-15x42 since I have one already, like that scope, and have some experience with it. But that sale has me intrigued, and I'm going to ask elementary but subjective questions, like: would I like the extra mag on the upper end enough for the money? Would I like the 5-20 HD glass better than the 3-15 glass (if at all)? I'm not going to mind the extra weight; it will be welcome, all things considered. The TAC has 6 more mm of aperture, and is a 34mm tube...but I don't know (doubt?) if its whole package beats the SWFA; they are only equal in price because of the sale. How does the glass compare between the two scopes? In other words, is the extra mag of the Midas over the SWFA helpful/usable, at the ranges I'm looking at?

(As a data point, I had a Primary Arms 4-14x FFP scope...and, oh yes, even I can tell the difference between it and the 3-15x42, even at 100m...no big surprise there.)

All help is appreciated.
  • What is the platform for the scope? M&P 10, semiautomatic (though I may very well one day move it to a .308 bolt gun)
  • What cartridge are you shooting? 7.62mm/.308Win
  • What is your intended use for the scope? Primarily paper target, secondarily steel
  • What type of conditions will you typically shoot in? Early morning through dusk
  • What are the typical distances you intend to shoot? 600-1000m
  • Are there any specific specifications you would like? Desire FFP, "high enough" mag, "good glass" (yeah, I know)
  • What is the price range you can afford? ~$800
