Critique my build

Building my first gasser since moving to a free state. Was going to buy one from MSTN or get a JP or V7, but decided to build - and learn from my mistakes.

Here's what I have incoming:

BAD556 Ambi set
V7 controls and dust cover
2A Ti Adjustable BCG
V7 Lightweight Fluted 16" barrel (comes w/ Ti gas block and stainless tube)
BAD LW Carbine Buffer Tube
Taccom Ultralight carbine buffers and Tubb Flatwire spring
Magpul SL-K
Raptor LT
TT Diamond
2A Balios G2 12" rail and Ti barrel nut - had thought about 15", but wanted to have the option of a 12.5" barrel later.
Ergo 0 degree grip w/ beavertail
Lancer Mags
Aero Ultralight mount
PLX Compact 1-8 Griffin Mil
Brake: wavering between SLR Synergy Minicomp and the SR22, both in Ti.

Hoping the system can be tuned without a weighted buffer, and hoping I didn't make any glaring mistakes otherwise.

Uses: fun, learn to shoot faster, target and steel, stand, kneel, prone, mostly inside 600, and if accurate enough, maybe some varminting. Going to try 55 blitzkings, 75 eldm's, and 69 & 77 smk's / tmk's. My bolt 223 is 26" and dialed with 80's, so I have a bunch of lighter components around to try.

Improving My Reloading Process - Biggest Impact on SD

I have some very basic equipment and a simple reloading process, but I am curious where I can put some carefully budgeted funds to improve my reloads and overall accuracy. I am loading primarily for four cartridges: 6mm ARC, 6 GT, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 7-08. From the several threads on annealing and high-end powder measures, I think my next upgrade to my bench and process would be to anneal after steel pin and before any other case prep. The second area I am considering is upgrading my powder measure to reduce variation.

I use a LabRadar on all my loads to confirm MV and SD so that I have decent data for my Kestrel. Except for the 7-08 which runs almost twice as high, my SDs are usually in the 10-14 range and occasionally lower (15-20 shot groups). 100 yd, 10-shot group size for all four guns is consistently around 1 MOA with the 6 GT usually 0.6 MOA with Berger 105s. Even the 7-08 stays close to an inch with Barnes TSX and XBT. Both the 6 ARC and 6.5 CM are gas guns with 18" barrels with average MV of 2601 and 2541 respectively using 103 ELD-X and 143 ELD-X. Group sizes cluster around 3/4" and occasionally better.

Lately most of my shooting is over/around/through barricades to try to create realistic position practice for next seasons long range matches.

EQUIPMENT
Bonanaza Co-Ax Press
Whidden dies for 6GT and 6.5CM, Hornady for 6 ARC, and Redding for 7-08
Chargemaster 1500 for powder
Whidden and Sheridan gauges where available
Old style Lee hand primer
Area 419 funnel set
21st Century expander mandrels

PROCESS
Decap fired brass with Lyman Universal
Steel pin in Frankford Rotary Tumbler
run brass through expander mandrel
use Whidden case gauge to set shoulder bump
full length size with neck bushing based on make of brass
RCBS Trim Mate for primer pocket and slight chamfer to neck
Lee Hand Primer
Chargemaster to throw powder charge
Seating to COAL for 6 ARC and 6.5 CM (gas guns) and CBTO for 6 GT and 7-08
Tumble in Corn cob to clean off case lube

Shoot, rinse, and repeat.

In short, what's the best next step to improve consistency in my ammo? Anneal? Better powder measure? Something else?

SOLD Custom Impact Precision 6.5 Creed Rifle

Up for sale is my nearly brand-new custom 6.5 Creedmoor bolt gun built off of an Impact Precision 737R action. The rifle has been mainly used for marketing pictures (back when I worked in the firearms industry) but has less than 20 rounds through the barrel. I've since moved on to a different industry doing marketing and have not had the time to take the rifle out at all. It deserves to be shot and not sitting in a safe. So I figured I would sell it to fund other projects and help pay for a trip to Europe this summer.

Anyways, here are the specs of the rifle.

___________________________________________________________________________
Action - Impact Precision 737R Action
Barrel - Proof Research 24-inch 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel
Chassis - MDT ESS Chassis System with holding stock
Trigger - Triggertech Rem 700 Diamond Trigger (flat-faced)
Muzzle Device - Thunderbeast CB Brake
Extras - Cerekoted Green Chassis, Custom cheekpiece from MDT, MDT Vertical Grip Premier FDE, AICS Magazine, Spare MDT folding stock (not shown)

Looking to get $3200 for the rifle with no optic or bipod or best offer (no lowballing please). I'm not looking for trades. Should someone want to buy the whole thing in its entirety, feel free to throw out a price? The scope currently on this is a Nightforce ATACR 7-35 with the TREMOR3 Reticle, the mount is a Nightforce 34mm Ultramount with SOCOM markings, and the bipod is an Atlas V8 ADM-170.

The buyer will pay for shipping to their FFL

Let me know if you have any questions or want more pictures.

I'd consider parting the rifle out depending on the offers. Here's what it would cost for each part should you want to go this route.

Action + trigger: $1200
Barrel: $800
Chassis (with the spare stock and cheek pad): $1000

Introducing The 5-30x56 Match Pro ED

Bushnell 5-30x56 Match Pro ED

The 6-24x50 Match Pro has been a great optic, but some folks were wanting more. With the 5-30x56 Match Pro ED We really tried to pack everything we could into this that people said they wanted.

Major differences:

  1. Magnification range - Went way up up to 5-30x.
  2. Objective lens - Up to 56mm.
  3. The Name Sake - The objective lens is ED Prime glass.
  4. Throw lever - Now integrated like ET and has 3 positions for left, right, or neutral positions.
  5. Zero Stop - Has it, very reliable and crazy easy/fast to set.
  6. Reticle - Now the Deploy MIL 2, it's a floating dot 2/10 grid and it's illuminated with a 6-hour timer so if you forget to turn it off it you won't have a dead battery next time you go to use it
  7. Sunshade - Included, 2.5" w/internal threads for accessories mounting *Rev Indicator - I wasn't sure if I was going to like this but I fell in love with it over the last few months. On first revolution the indicator is flush. On the second revolution it's popped up and shows red. On the 3rd revolution it shows silver below it. The red is actually an anodized red aluminum cap that's been placed on top of a stainless steel pin. We did that for visual as well as longevity so it won't wear over time.
  8. Locking turrets all around like last time, but bigger and very nice clicks with a positive grip, way easier to get hold of and turn than the original Match Pro.
  9. Parallax = 15 yards
  10. Elevation travel = 30 MIL
  11. Price: $699.99 (MAP)
Give a shout with any questions and I'll try to answer them ASAP.

Thanks, all!

Most forgiving optic to get behind on AR

Strange question (maybe) here, a friend of mine has some disabilities which affect his motor skills somewhat which makes it difficult for him to get behind his AR-15 right now. Currently he has a cheap 3x prism sight and I'm thinking due to the nature of prism sights (finicky eyebox and short eye relief) that may not be the best optic for him. Thought I'd reach out to the community and ask if anyone has similar experience or knows guys with similar experience and what has worked best for them. I would convince him to go with a nice 1x like an Aimpoint, but he would prefer a magnified optic... Would he encounter similar difficulties with an ACOG or maybe a nice LPVO like the Vortex GenII E 1-6 would be better?

SOLD Tikka T3x Superlite 223

For sale is a like-new Tikka T3x Superlite in .223. Includes Burris 25 MOA scope rail. Literally one box of ammo through it, and still has the stickers on the stock. Just decided to go a different direction for the caliber. Super smooth action, and like the name, it's pretty damn light. Fluted barrel is not threaded, so I realize it's not up most people's alley here but I don't need it. Was $865 new, and it's still basically new.

$575 shipped OBO.

Firearms WTT: Defiance Ruckus 6.5 PRC Lightweight Build

Looking to trade a Defiance Ruckus XM ultralight build for something a little shorter. Got a little overzealous. Hunted with it and it was a little tricky for the style of hunting I do with a supressor attached to the end. Rifle weighs in at ~7lbs

Specs:
Defiance Ruckus XM ultralight
26” proof carbon Prefit threaded 5/8”-24, 139 rds on it
Bix and Andy TacSport Pro - Flat shoe
McMillan A3 Carbon - bedded, two flush cups and a rail up front
Defiance BDL - full disclosure, I haven’t loved this bottom metal. Rounds typically nose dive for me. Probably could use a spring tweak and be good to go, but I never screwed around with it

Open to Tikkas or custom actions. Or barrels for a Nucleus action. I like lighter steel barrels over carbon barrels but I’m not picky.

Who's bought a car recently? (Last 30 days or less)

Looking at buying a new car. Just trying to gauge the market.

Hyundai is offering 0% for 36 months now to Jan 3rd, so I'm assuming the market is getting soft, quickly or it's a end of year thing?

Looking at:

Toyota Rav4 Prime
Toyota Highlander AWD 2.5 turbo
Hyundai Sante Fe w/ 2.5t
Ford Maverick has me interested but don't know much about it.

More interested in your experience with the actual market, not so much opinions on what to buy, but this is the Pit and it's impossible to stop you fockers from getting off topic and arguing. 🥸

Forced induction is nearly a must because 5280. *The Rav4 Prime is hybrid w/ 301 HP and should be fairly peppy at altitude due to electric motors. AWD/4WD is pretty much a must.

Will be selling/trading my 2014 Tacoma Sport w/ supercharger (113,000).

lenin,stalin and hitler

am reading "lenin stalin and hitler the age of social catastrophe" by gallately. things i already knew about but presented in much detail and sold documentation,in so far as that is available. he demolishes the liberal thinking that stalin perverted lenin's program. he just continued in the same vein and amped it up. hard to come up with real numbers but it appears from this work that lenin was a bigger butcher than hitler. just no way to truely know. however, some of the quotes from all three sound very similar to the lenguaged used by members of our current regime. be nervous if you already aren't. i have no doubt that there are servants of the gov and their bosses who would willingly participate in similar "purges". book done by a hist prof at FSU. amazing to find an academic willing to write and publish such findings, even in '07.

Hunters are guilty until proven innocent

Here is another case of jackbooted agencies terrorizing the law abiding. they have unlimited down time and the full power of the law to make up baseless accusations; you have to miss work, go to court, pay for your own lawyer, and get an ulcer to prove your innocence even if there is no hint of wrongdoing. I hope this guy sues the shit out of them.

Officer Wrongfully Confiscates Trophy Bucks

By Brodie SwisherDecember 7, 20226 Comments
Government overreach has become somewhat of a normal routine in recent years across the country as the grip on freedom continues to tighten. But for hunters, it becomes particularly alarming when it directly impacts our freedom to hunt and enjoy the outdoors.
That’s why a recent case in West Virginia and North Carolina has fueled the fire among hunters as wildlife officer overreach hit an all-time low.
Despite an officers best efforts to use social media hearsay as evidence to seize one hunter’s trophies, the story has a happy ending. So be sure to watch the video below until the end.
