A little "semi" off color humor to brighten up this very dark day

Husband Wanted

HUSBAND WANTED! MUST BE IN MY AGE GROUP (70's). MUST NOT BEAT ME. MUST NOT RUN AROUND ME. AND MUST STILL BE GOOD IN BED! ALL APPLICANTS PLEASE APPLY IN PERSON.

On the second day, she heard the doorbell. Much to her dismay, she opened the door to see a gray-haired gentleman with no arms or legs sitting in a wheelchair.

The old woman said, " you're not really asking me to consider you?... just look at you, you have no legs!" The old man smiled, " therefore I cannot run around on you!"

She snorted. " You don't have any hands either."

Again the old man smiled, " Nor can I beat you!"

She raised an eyebrow and gazed intently, are you still good in bed?"

With that, the old gentleman leaned back, beamed a big broad smile, and said,

"I rang the doorbell, didn't I?"

I purchased these late July, but have decided to go a different route due to winning something else.

Good Caliber's in Factory Ammo?

I've been shooting 6.5 CM since day one of my bolt-gun journey and only with factory Hornady 140gr ELD-M. I have no complaints. My rifle shoots great and I have enough ammo to last a while.

Are there any other calibers these days available in good factory match ammo? Either short or long-action. I don't hand load, so just wondering if the market has expanded in the last few years? I've been using the 6.5 creed and haven't even bothered to look at anything else.

Kahles owners, your thoughts….

I recently picked up a Gen 3 K624i with MSR reticle off of the PX for $1850. After receiving it and looking through it, I got to say I really like it. I know from this forum a lot of people complain about CA, but I’m not really seeing it and the glass looks really good to my eye.

So here’s the question for Kahles owners, is a used K525i off of the PX for around $2300 - 2400 worth the extra money over. $1800-1900 624i? What about the K525i DLR for around $2900 on the PX? To me the field of view increase is really minimal in real world usage…

I thought about getting another Kahles with MSR reticle, but then coordinated with Jerry at S&B USA to have two PMII’s switched out from P4FL to MSR, but I’m still tempted to get another 624i..

Your thoughts on the used prices of the Kahles in the PX versus value of the 624i, 525i, and 525i DLR?

Night Vision Wilcox BOSS-Xe - the Swiss Army Knife of weapon optics!

So… Wilcox finally released a new product into the wild a week or two ago — the new wunderkind BOSS-Xe — a/k/a “How much technology can we possibly cram into a 10-ounce EOTech reflex optic?” — Ballistically Optimized Sighting System - Enhanced with its whimsically nomenclatured “environmentally stable optical bench.”

The BOSS is basically an EOTech EXPS3 with a built-in RAID-Xe — visible and IR lasers and illuminators (yes, plural “illuminators”) — all in just nine glorious ounces!

The concept is fantastic: Merge two critical combat devices into a single device, without sacrificing functionality, while reducing both size and weight, in an age of ever-diminishing rail space. Give it a cool little throw lever that switches retical aim-points between supersonic and subsonic .300 Blackout rounds. Then, make it bombproof, waterproof, and while we’re at it let’s also give it frickin’ Bluetooth and make it part of the ATAK battlespace. And, oh yeah, let’s give it a panic button… because every reflex sight needs a damn panic button!

Hells yeah!

Wilcox must have some really interesting development and engineering meetings where people just blurt out ideas and management shouts “Halleluia! Let’s do it!”

That’s literally the only reason I can think of for putting a ridiculously sensitive angle/cant sensor into an unmagnified reflex site designed for subsonic .300BLK rounds — which apparently cannot be disabled and is specifically designed to flash the red reticle and induce epileptic seizures in people that never had epilepsy.

Yeah, this is how Wilcox gives the world epilepsy.

Weinstein. Trudeau. Flugelbinder. Wilcox?

As you can probably deduct, Wilcox can’t help but Rube Goldberg the absolute fuck out of an otherwise great idea — it’s what they do.

Anywho… as you might imagine, compromises have been made. It’s not chocolate and peanut butter here, that when combined make both already-awesome single things into one even better thing.

Previous attempts at such a device have been made, most notably with the EOLAD and the L3 Abominable Pyramid — neither of which were any good.

[more to come]

Balancing your Rifle? Theories?

Hey guys,

I have an MDT setup and an MPA setup, I'll put my build lists below but I am trying to balance both rifles to take as much wobble out as possible and am having some issues. My MPA chassis is balanced about 1-1 and half inches in front of the magwell and it has resulted in pretty amazing stability yet most folks seem to recommend 3-4 inches Infront of the mag well, this is also where my MDT is balanced at.

The MDT though is no where near as stable as the MPA, even though it should be more, in theory. The MDT weighs 26lbs vs 22.5 on the MPA. The MDT has a 4 inch contact area on the bag vs 3 inches on the MPA.

Why is this happening?

MPA Matrix Build
Valdada IOR Recon 4-28x50
ARC 40mm Rings
MPA Internal Weights
MPA Butt stock weight
MPA Competition Side Rails
Bartlein 6BRA Barrel
Hellfire Brake
Defiance Ruckus (Branded Alpha Omega Volition)
Atlas V8 Bipod, sometimes MDT Cykepod

MDT ACC Build
Leupold Mark5 7-35x56
Leupold Rings
Impact 737R
Bartlein 6XC By A-Team Precision
APA Lil Bastard Brake
SendIt Level
MDT Cykepod
MDT Interior Weights
MDT Steel Bag Rider
MDT Butt Stock Weight
MDT Baker Wings
SP Dual Exterior Weights

Rebarrel Rem 700 .243 to .308 WIN-Worth it?

So I have a Remington 700 VLS chambered in .243 that I bought new in the mid 1990s. At the time, the .243 was all the rage. Believe it or not, the gun is still new and unfired. A couple of years ago I planned to finally shoot the rifle and added a Timney trigger and scope. But with the ammo scarcity and other guns to shoot, I just put it back in the safe and left it there. On to my question:

I understand it can be rebarreled to .308 WIN with just a barrel swap. Is this correct? I would probably go with a 20" barrel with threaded muzzle in the same "heavy varmint" contour it currently sports. The only reason I'm even considering it instead of just selling the rifle is because the quality of the wood stock and jeweled bolt is excellent. Super smooth action; I haven't seen anything from Remington in the last 20 years that is even remotely the same quality. I would definitely have a gunsmith do the work. From what I've researched, it seems barrel plus labor install is going to run around $600-$800 or so. So do you guys think it is worth it?
